Why wouldn’t you trade in your 11 Pro and make it three figures? That is both slick and smart but clever UX (and the other tweaks) are still nowhere near enough to make me want to drop four figures upgrading my 11 pro. Without USB-C it never stood much of a chance anyway.
Not entirely sure which you are referring to but you know UX evolves right? Imagine if it didn't.Apple breaks their UX guidelines yet again.

Isn't everything a "stop gap" product?I was thinking the same thing.
It will be gone soon so who will support this.
The 14 looks like a stop gap product to me.
They didn't have to. They chose to. The margins on all of the iPhones are high enough that they could have continued it. Not every device needs to sell 500 million units per quarter to be profitable. Are we still not over this yet? It's quite obvious that a mini is only for a minority of loud voices. These loud voices keep saying Apple would sell millions and yet they released an update and now had to abandon it due to lack of sales volume.
Well, it's a cutout not a notch, and Apple's cutout guidelines are different from their notch guidelines.Apple said in their notch UI Guidelines that you cannot draw attention to the notch...

The difference is, a lot more investment has to go into the iPhone Mini. I get your point and understand your pain if this is something you really want but the fact is, Apple is a business and they will always consider the bottom line. Unfortunately for some, the iPhone Mini is not part of that equation any longer. They didn't have to. They chose to. Apple has kept devices like the iPod Touch on life support for years after anybody was buying them. It wasn't until this year that they finally discontinued selling the last generation of the iPod Touch.
Which feature? hahaThis feature alone makes iPhone 14 an exciting upgrade.
You don't need the pill in order to have dynamic island... it's simply an animation which can happen with the pill there or not.Seems unnecessarily complicated.
Especially since the pill will likely disappear in a few more years.
No, literally definitions, not a semantic difference.semantics
They are now. LOLSamsung currently working on this as well.
It could have, but it wouldn't have worked as well (looked as good) in regards to animating into call/nav notifications. I don't think we've seen how the regular 14s will display these things. Can’t the same thing be done with the notch?
I wondered if I was the only person thinking "iPhone Touch Bar".A permanent notification bar. Touch Bar on MacBook evoluted.
Well, it's Apple's own guidelines. It's the golden rule, whoever has the gold gets to make the rules and Apple certainly holds all of the keys to the kingdom these days!Apple breaks their UX guidelines yet again.
