Anyone else's visual voicemail not working after doing this? People are leaving me voicemails but I'm not being notified on my phone, its still showing I have no voicemails. Wondering if it's related to this loophole...

The same is happening to me right now.

I logged onto OLAM tonight and noticed that I have been reverted back to IPhone 2g data plus 200 messages. Has that happened to anybody else?

Just got this worked today :D thanks for the tips guys!

Btw, for those who got this last month... how's your bill look? Is there any pro-rate charge or anything?

That stinks.
You didn't get a text or email or anything saying that they were changing your plan?
Are you still showing a dumb phone on your plan? I saw you mention that several pages back.

I was on the $30 iPhone plan and have been for a week or two now until last night. It showed that I was on the $20 iPhone plan with 200 text messages. Didn't get a text or email notification.

Are you still getting 3G data?

Being on the 2G data plan will still give you 3G data speeds. It was only considered a 2G data plan because it was for the original iPhone since it could not do 3G. All someone needed was a 3G phone to get 3G speeds on the 2G plan.

So yes, the person you are asking will still have 3G.

If ATT is removing their unlimited data plan, then how long will it take before they remove this feature too?

I posted a screen cap of the AT&T website in this thread that shows that the 2G unlimited data plan will be replaced by the $30 data plan beginning on August 27. It will continue for a long time from now. Those that are only paying $20 on the original iPhone will start paying $30.

The iPhone4 is my first AT&T phone. Any chance someone could send me the IMEI of a dumb phone that this worked with so that I can give this a shot. I hate having to monitor my Pandora use to make sure I don't go over 2GB in a billing period!!

Please stop spreading rumors that are unfounded. YOUR plan is set to expire, not everyone's. This is because you just bought a new iphone and AT&T sets up your old plan to expire and your new plan to take effect.

Anyone who has a $20 data plan will be upgraded to the $30 data plan on their expiration date.

It's not a rumor. I just made the mistake of saying that everyone will change on the 27th but it will be on the beginning of their next months cycle.

I'm not on the $20 2G plan anyways.

I was on the 3G iPhone plan (through the IMEI method) until yesterday when I was switched to the $20 2G iPhone plan. I'm still not sure how that happened. OLAM isn't showing any data usage because of "changes in the account", but *3282# is showing 2 mbs of overage.

Before going through all this you could call up AT&T if you are still within your 30 return window and state that you are considering switching to Sprint or Verizon because they still offer unlimited data plans. Request the unlimited data plan --and depending upon the rep you talk to you just might get it.

I switched back to an iPhone this past weekend and would otherwise be on the 2GB data plan. The customer service rep just re-applied my previous unlimited plan when I asked. I think AT&T is more willing to bend the rules a little to keep customers with all these new Android phones popping up.

It's worth a shot anyway.

I wish it were that easy (at least for me anyway). I had unlimited data until April, when I gave up the iPhone for the iPad and went back to a dumb phone. I bought the IP4 when it came out and went through 3 levels of support (supervisors, etc etc) twice and was declined twice. Even a friend who works at AT&T retail could not do anything to get my unlimited data back.

I'm sorry it didn't work for you--I guess I was lucky and got the right person at the right time. I hope you have better luck with the method(s) in this thread.

Quashing unlimited data on smartphones is really going to hamper their use in the future. When LTE comes out, I think everyone is going to be on tiered data I'm afraid.

I did this today and it still works...

I'm new to AT&T so I didn't have an dumbphone IMEI to use. What I did was find an ebay auction for an older AT&T phone where the seller listed the full IMEI in the listing and used that number. Worked like a charm!!

Only hiccup I ran in to was that the first rep I talked to added the $10 data and the $20 texting plans as separate plans as has been spoken about earlier in the thread, so I had to call back and insist that they add the $30 combined package.

Once all was set with the plan changes I made a few phone calls and tried to access data to pop up the error message. I received the text messages within about 2 hours and I now have unlimited data!!!

I am ready to buy my first iphone. I currently have an unlimited dumbphone plan for $15/month, I am sure it will not, but any chance ATT will let me grandfather in?
