@jinx1000

I called c/s and the only thing she could do was to switch me back to the 2gig $25 plan, so I did that.

Then I went to the AT&T store and got a regular sim and a micro-sim. I went home and activated my 2G iPhone with a regular sim, used the phone and made sure it was on OLAM that I had the 2G iPhone with a $20 data plan. I took the new micro-sim and put it in my IP4, but it would not activate. It kept saying "waiting to activate". Another call to c/s, who activated the phone for me and put me on the $30 unlimited plan.

My *DATA# still shows an overage that has been increasing slightly each day, but OLAM and c/s assured me that I'm on the $30 unlimited iPhone plan.

Glad you finally got a solution techiegirl.

I just got my monthly bill and everything looks good - def still have unlimited. I did get charged upgrade fees twice (I guess from when I switched to dumbphone then back to iphone). In the past I would have called and asked them to waive them, but I think I will just be happy with the fact I have unlimited :D

Never thought about the upgrade fees, but I guess that makes sense since 'technically' you changed phones twice...

Oh well... Unlimited data is worth $36 to me so long as I don't lose it anytime soon!

I think the worry would be more 500 Megs at $2 per Meg. lol

Techiegirl. When you activate it that way do you still get the goofy two versions of the iphone data plan on the Olam?

OLAM shows just 1 $30 iPhone Data plan. When I called C/S and asked them to activate my IP4 from the iPhone 2g, she asked if I wanted the $30 unlimited data, the $25 2gig data or the $15 200 meg data.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....Let me think about that first. :p LOL

Hello, I'm new to this forum.
I have the iPhone 4 and I would like the unlimited data plan.
I did as the instructions said. Now I am in the process of waiting for the text messages. Could someone tell me if I did this correctly? I took a screenshot of the "features" page.

Roommate got a 3GS so I got to try the 2G loophole on her 2G. 1.5 hours later the confirmation texts came and now I also have unlimited data on my OLAM :D

1) It was a few pages back, but make sure you're on the $30 unlimited data/text for non-smartphones and not the $10 unlimited data $20 unlimited text plan. It works out to be $30 either way, but the latter doesn't seem to work.

2) Make sure you have wifi off and use your iphone. At least make attempts to use data, even if your data isn't working.

What if your data works, even if you're on the 30$ unlimited dumb phone plan?

I don't think it can until you get switched over to an iphone/smartphone data plan.

Well, I'm still waiting for the texts, its been 4 and a half hours. As shown above, my current plan is the $30 Unlimited Text and data for basic phone. Yet I am still able to use 3G internet on my iPhone 4. I made couple of calls and rebooted my iPhone several times. Still nothing, wait longer? Or call AT&T again?

I waited overnight with the dumbphone loophole but it never worked. There was someone using the iPhone 2g loophole that didn't get the change until 4 days later. You can call in but it seems like it's luck of the draw to get unlimited that way (I failed). I was under the impression that data wouldn't work on the dumbphone plan (it didn't for me). If everything is working on your iPhone perhaps waiting a bit longer won't hurt?

After waiting for about 6 hours, I finally received the 2 texts and the email. If I received 2 texts and 1 email, does that mean it's set? Don't I need a third text?
I checked OLAM and I noticed that the $30 iPhone unlimited data plan was added, there were two but it automatically sets to the first one. After this, I removed the 20$ unlimited texting and added my family unlimited text back. Does this mean I'm set?

Can you post a screen shot of your OLAM to check you have the right one? Have you made a call with your iphone 4?

Here it is. You see it has iphone 4 and the correct plan. And yes i've made calls and tried to use internet. internet does not work.

I've went ahead and changed the iphone 4 to the appropriate dumbphone on OLAM I have. Inserted the sim into the dumbphone and made a few calls. Now going to put back the sim in the iphone 4 and pray. :D

If I have the unlimted data plan for iPhone now, what is the text message supposed to say when I call *DATA# to find out my usage?

That first one "Data (MB): 57.1 of Unlimited (Deactivated)" has been going up, and the other's weren't except Text messaging. Is it supposed to be like this?
