Im gonna run home and tell my mommy, cause you guys are baddies!

I love when someone tries to be a Hero and self police with their personal comments.

Every thread here has one.

Now, I understand lots of people did this before, so I should be good, but just to get it clear: if this, for whatever reason, doesn't work, I won't get charged twice, and it's possible to just go back to whatever my plan was at, correct ? Will I be able to use all the features (texting, internet, everything) in the period where the plans get changed ?

I don't really know if I'll really need it (will get my iPhone on Tuesday) since I don't know how much data I will be using, but for $5 extra it's probably worth it...

As this thread is 19 pages long, I didn't get to read everything yet, so my apologies if I'm asking questions already answered ;)

Does every phone have an IMEI? I have an old phone I do not use, and the one I will have left after I cancel the contract. Neither seem to have an IMEI under the battery. Is there somewhere else I should be looking? Thanks!

Yep every phone has one, usually on a sticker inside the phone or on the box/packaging.

Many phones also have a series of numbers that you can press on the keypad to display the IMEI number. Google your phone model and you should be able to find it.

I'm having no luck at all. If it is on the phone packaging that is long gone. If I call the phone maker (sanyo in this case) will they be able to get me my IMEI or would it be better to try the service provider?

try pressing * # 0 6 # on your phone's keypad (star, pound, 0,6, pound)

There is no label at all inside your phone? The phone maker wouldn't have it - since it's different for each phone, like a serial number.

Someone earlier in this thread said they were charged 2 activation fees for the switch I think, but it could have been a different thread.

I entered those numbers and nothing at all happened. My service provider wouldn't know it either?

I think you can try to take off the battery and check for the number. For most phones, it should have it.

couldn't zepaw just use ANY imei number from the internet? if so, there are lots of people who provided theirs on this particular forum and you could give it to at&t and pretend it is yours... as far as i know, technically, you don't even really physically need a dumbphone to do all this... when I was asked to plug those *06# or whatever, I pretended to do that and went ahead to give them an old imei # from a box...

This is the third time you have asked this question in this thread. Go back and read the other answers.

Don't know how you'll manage having no contract other than getting prepaid (Go Phone). I'm pretty sure the iPhone won't work on it either. You need to have a plan.

Are you the same person as the person who posted below

ok,,i have to say something..

15$ dataplan for dumb phone or basic phone is the same data ur going to get with 200MB or 2GB...so why dont after downgrade to 15$ data for basic phone then just use that with ur iphone.....yes you will get text saying that you need to upgrade blah blah blah but just ignore it and once awhile just use ur sim with basic phone..if the rep called you..you can tell them that you are using the basic phone but sometime borrow iphone from a friend to test out..

Will att forces you to update the 200MB or 2GB data plan ?
Nope..but they will text you and call you.

I have done this. I went to Att store, first time ever to open an account, when i open i told them I will have the family plan, and i will use my old phones. and I will add 30$ data unlimited + text unlimited for family, They will ask you what kind of phone you have, I told them it is the phone i bought from china, just regular phone, so They added the package. Later on i went home i use the sime with my other Nokia SmartPhone, and you will get text and called from them but depend on your social skills, but what i mean is that you can use your 15$ data unlimited for basic phone on smart phone.. data will be just the same.

and for people use the method at 1st post didnt get the text , YOU SHOULD NOT PLUG THE SIM BACK TO IPHONE4, after you call to downgrade and change plan to 30$data unlimited + unlimited text, please use your sim with dumbphone untill you get the text , you will get in in 1 to 2 hours the most if the sim is in non smart phone. After you get the text which basically mean you data is activated then you can swith back to your iphone.

Can you post a pic of your OLAM? How long did you wait for the texts? Maybe walk us through what you did :)

i've got only 2, never waited for a 3rd one that never came... both of them were sent to me within 8 seconds that morning and when i checked my account, unlimited was already added...

My third text came about 5-7 days after the first 2 texts.
The third one just tells you to go online to manage your features and stuff that doesn't concern your account status.

Double charge on data for the sim trick?

Has anyone got their bills yet? What did it say?
I read it somewhere that someone was charge double on their data. Is that true? Can anybody confirm?

When I logged in my WirelessApp, I go to my phone and it shows 2 data for mine, 0.8 out of 200 mb, 0 out of unlimited, and 0 out of unlimited, is it suppose to do that?

And for my text messages, it shows up 3 times as well.

So yeah, what's up with that?

I was charged twice for my upgrade fee - not my data. But honestly I think that is just a glitch with my account. When I first got my iphone I was also charged twice for the upgrade fee. I called, they couldn't figure out why so they waived them both :D

Your data plans should say something like this, the red is my comments:

Next Bill Cycle: 08/17/2010
Data (MB): 0 of Unlimited (this is my current unlimited plan)
Data (MB): 0.7 of Unlimited (Deactivated) (this was my dumbphone deactivated data plan)
Data (MB): 182.8 of 200 (Deactivated) (this was my first 200 iphone plan)

Is that how yours looks?
