That seems pretty alarming.

If the company actually does own the product it's selling then why would it sell 3D models? What if the company stole the renders and the product itself is a fake?

If so, they really made a lot of money off of this fraud scheme.

That is exactly what I was thinking... if I am the designer of something why someone else selling my drawing  but the photo of the case today it did looks pretty real to me  I guess the series continues... ;)

yea.. 3Ds only work for me. I want to see REAL pictures on their site. They need to hurry up. I'm not going to spend 80 bucks on their case until I see something really impressed look. :D

As if this wasn't dodgy enough already! Thanks for the link. At least we get to see what the damn thing might look like!

This is ggrreeaatt! All these people who paid 80.00 for a case and are getting the run around, it keeps getting better.
People keep getting told different things it's supposed to be shipping this week, no next week, wait until august.....
Why doesent one of you call and put some pressure on these people.

Joseph,

It looks like your part of next weeks shipments.

These are probably a bunch of kids sitting in their parents basement trying to figure out how to make an actual case look like the 3d rendering that they bought from an online website?

Obviously not. Just trolling.

I just got my Vapor case yesterday and seems to work fine for me so far. Still have not done the software update and get 5 bars in my house.

I got the black case and think it looks sick.

It was hard to get a hold of Element but when I finally got hold of them, the guy that answered the phone seemed a bit rude and stressed.

the more and more i think about it, the more i think this is fake. Just like the guy said above, they are selling 3d renderings correct? How do we know you aren't REALLY just some guy who tried to make his own after purchasing the rendering?

First off, why take a picture of just the top? You know damn well we would have wanted to see the sides first. And if you are going to take the picture, why clutch the case like you're holding it over a skyscraper balcony? (i can see the white in your fingertips!)
Then on top of all that,

I'm not trying to say that they are a fake company or that they don't have any other products... I'm just saying there is a reason (some reason) that they are giving the run around to everyone that calls (its shipping now, tomorrow, end of this week, next month, etc, etc)... and that they haven't put any real pictures on their website.

If they were really producing these things every minute, hour, day, whatever you think they could take a picture and post it somewhere, and if they were shipping as someone who answered the phone @ the company claims... why hasn't ANYONE got one? They are located in California, not mainland China.

You just said they are probably a bunch of kids in their parents basement. Kind of sounds the same.

Anyway, i agree with you. For a company who sells quality products, they aren't being transparent as they could be right now. And it does seem very odd that they have already began shipping (as confirmed from the guy in my convo) So where are the REAL pictures at.

Only time will tell.

That picture with the "shiny" case and the Kung-Fu Grip - might have a valid explanation.

Odds are good, they can have the CNC / Machine shop but NOT the anodizing equipment (which I've seen before) - so they sent the case out for treatment. I've had frequent experiences with several vendors "messing up" the anodizing - changing critical dimensions, wrong color, gloss when you need flat, ect... (it's been a common experience for me)

Perhaps this is one of the first units that they (anodizers) didn't handle too well.

And as for the Kung-Fu Grip? He had the iPhone 4 showing full signal, then quickly jammed it into the case and squeezed it shut (as he wouldn't have enough time to tighten the screws before the signal dropped to ZERO).

My theory. :D

sounds like a good excuse. but the guy registered on the 21st. So if it was an actual employee of elementcase, They decided to show us a pic of the defective batch when they are supposedly shipping out actual cases to real customers? I think the guy was clutching it to keep it together, as the case was not real and the screws could not fasten.

Still, that doesn't justify their childish stunt (posting a dodgy photograph that provides less details than their ambiguous renders) or the way they've been advertising their case. It is just bizarre. How difficult is it to post a couple of decent photographs to show customers what they are buying?

It's the same story with their other products. ONE single photograph of their iPad stand or their 3Gs case. Ridiculous.

Not a single official photograph after almost a month. Logical conclusion: 0 cases have left the production line.

well the joule stand and the liquid cases have at least been seen in human hands even though there is just one picture on the site of each -- just not the vapor cases though. Everything is speculation at this point, however they already admitted in halting operations to ramp up production. So at this point anything goes

Halting operations to ramp up production. Irony at its best. I don't see how that makes sense. Would Apple delay its iphone launch/sales because they're ramping up production? How would halting operations benefit the ramping up of production or how would it even affect? Where's the cause and effect?

That's kind of what i was implying. The absurdity of it.

Refund received.

Happy to be on the sidelines of this one.

Actually can't believe I pre-ordered to begin with. We had all been excited about a concept rendering, rather than an actual product. And a very expensive rendering at that.

Looking forward to seeing how it all shakes out. Perhaps the "Vapor" will be ready for iPhone 5.
