Legally you are probably right. Hopefully in response Twitter would block all of Apple's accounts.

We'll have to agree to disagree on the "good for them." Apple has already hosted Twitter for years so to change that now that people are no longer being censored on Twitter for legally protected free speech would be a clearly politically motivated action. Afterall, Twitter has allowed a literal terrorist and spokesperson for the Taliban: Zabihullah Mujahid to spout "hate speech" since 2017 and Apple didn't seem to have any problem with that in the last five years...
Doesn't matter if it's politically motivated. Individuals and companies are allowed to participate in politics. Musk himself bought Twitter at least in part for political motivations. You don't have to like it, but you do have to live with it.

I’m no Bezos fan but come on, the washington post has editorial independence, Bezos isnt sitting in the newsroom randomly firing people and printing his own tantrums as headlines

How would you or I have any idea whether or not the Washington Post has editorial independence?

Musk fired people because Twitter has been hemorrhaging money and a major part of that was increasing payroll costs. They managed to lose 1.136 BILLION dollars in 2020 while everyone was sitting around at home on smartphones and their computers. In 2021 they only managed to lose 221 million dollars. The bloat at Twitter was real and the shareholders should've forced out the CEO for NOT cutting their payroll significantly over the past two years.

Anyway my point was a reaction to multiple left media sources and individuals posting about their "concern" that a billionaire had purchased a media source while being silent about Bezos and Washington Post.

I'm genuinely curious.... is there some actual payout of sorts for using certain buzzwords? And is it the bigger the more often you repeat the token buzzwords?

Or do you (third person you, feel free to put on the shoe or not) think the more often you repeat your buzzwords, they somehow magically become meaningful, even factual?

Can you stop being cryptic and link to or quote "offending" posts? You keep saying stuff like this randomly.

  1. I don't know that Apple cares about their Twitter accounts. That's the whole point of Elon throwing a tantrum, remember?
  2. Nothing on Twitter is "legally protected free speech". It's a private platform. The only thing your free speech is legally protected from in the US is the government interfering. Private companies and platforms have no legal obligation to grant you freedom of speech.
I don't know why you posted any of this as it doesn't refute anything I said.

1. Elon is commenting that Apple is not paying for advertising on Twitter - this is not the same thing as Apple having a free account that they routinely advertised on in the past.

2. I'm fully aware of this. Twitter has the legal right to allow anyone they want or don't want on their platform.

Over 1100 posts and counting... Elon certainly gets the clicks. Personally I usually speed-scroll over everything Elon. The post count on this one had me stop by.

On topic: there's a difference between free speech and unchecked hate speech. The latter should have consequences (such as getting suspended or banned on twitter). With little or no moderation on fake news & hate speech on Musk's twitter, I hope Apple bans it from the AppStore.

A funnier chapter to this fun chapter of Elon's foolishness might follow: the alternative phone & OS he said he'd make. Investing in corn instead of Tesla stock would be a wise move at that time. (NFA)

Again - I'm aware of it being legally protected - you don't need to comment on that any longer. Apple should be criticized as they would be extremely hypocritical if they went after Twitter because it is no longer a leftist echo chamber when their own censorship is unforgivable:

In 2018, Apple's restrictions on sending the word "Taiwan" or sending an emoji representing the flag of Taiwan on iDevices using a Chinese country code or language settings caused the devices to crash.[60][61][62]

In 2018, Apple removed apps from the Chinese App Store that allowed users to access content forbidden by the Chinese government. Many of these apps gave users access to virtual private networks that could allow them to circumvent the Great Firewall of China. Apple did not cite any Chinese laws, but claimed that the apps broke the laws of their local governments. Among the apps removed was VyprVPN, an app by Golden Frog, a company which had filed an amicus brief supporting Apple during the FBI–Apple encryption dispute. Apple is the first foreign global technology company to concede to the Chinese government's demands.[63]

Artists who reference the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests and massacre have had some or all of their music removed from iTunes, including Jacky Cheung Hok-yau and Tat Ming Pair.[64]

In 2021, Apple removed a Quran app and a Bible app from the China App Store.[65][66] Apple also removed a popular daily prayer app for Muslims from China.[67] Jehovah's Witnesses' app was removed in May 2020.[68]

In October 2022, following the Beijing Sitong Bridge protest, Apple release an update which started to limit AirDrop function on iPhone and iPad purchased in China, resulting the receiving from "Everyone" option changed to "Everyone for 10 minutes".[69]

In November 2022, Apple removed the TaiwanPlus app from the China App Store.[70]

In April 2018, Apple blocked the Telegram app in Iran in response to concerns that access to the encrypted messaging service presented a threat to Iranian national security.[72]

Twitter was of course never a leftist echo chamber. Stop believing everything Fox tells you.

Both of you are wrong, both apple and Tesla are actually publicly traded companies.

And if Apple does remove Twitter from the App Store without a real reason other than “space man bad”, they are going to run into lawsuits and anti trust talk again.
They are still private companies; they are just owned by shareholders. Public means owned by the government.

Are you trying to seriously make the argument that Apple is choosing to censor things in China and not because of a directive of the Chinese government?

Sounds like you have a problem with speech when doesn't agree with your own. Upvotes and downvotes are speech on Reddit.

As far as moderation goes, it's up to individual subreddits to create their own rules as long as they follow sitewide rules. And before you claim Reddit as a corporate entity silences right-wing voices, here's the Conservative subreddit.

I don't have a problem at all thank you... I was merely pointing out what happens.

Twitter was of course never a leftist echo chamber. Stop believing everything Fox tells you.

Stop believing everything CNN, MSNBC, WaPo etc. tell you. Twitter openly banned and censored conservatives for years in order to shape elections. They literally had #StayWoke t-shirts in the office. They openly censored the Hunter Biden laptop story to help Biden win. If you can't see that - you're blind. Fortunately all of the censors have been fired and the wrongfully banned conservatives are being let on.

If you don't like it - make your own Twitter :)
