Everyone is allowed on Twitter, unless they violated the guidelines. I dont follow the Taliban so I have no idea if anything they have said violated guidelines or not. For all I know they are tweeting about What the best bread and cheese pairing is during a jihad.

You do know who the Taliban is though right? They are an extremist group that glorifies violence, rape, and zero women's rights as well as extreme racism towards anyone who doesn't share their religious beliefs. Did you happen to see why so many people were desperate to get out of Afghanistan when they took over?

But hey, if you don't know who they are then it doesn't matter if they are on twitter right?

It is not just Apple, but all of Silicon Valley. The people are are the most ideological inbred, close-minded, and use their centralized organizations to enforce specific communication modes and content. They think they control everything, and even worse are convinced they are entitled to.
Nor are they obligated to support you or your views.
Twitter is an open sewer and its only going to get worse under Musk.

Why does Apple think they have the right to influence speech on other peoples' their platforms? This is a clear overreach and abuse of power. Twitter has not violated any terms of service. Permitting normal speech online is a good thing.

Corrected you above.

Apple does have a right to control their own platform. Twitter can continue to do whatever it wants on their web client.

It's crazy to me that leftists are so opposed to normal, mainstream viewpoints being shared online. Yikes.

If by "normal, mainstream viewpoints" you mean harassment, racism, bigotry, and fascism....then...yikes.

If Elon is "far right" as some here say, why did liberals bow down and praise him just a few years ago?
That assumes that Elon Musk's public persona hasn't changed. I don't follow Elon Musk or anything that he says or does. People can compartmentalize and have separate thoughts about people. Someone can praise his business success and be disgusted with his political rhetoric. Those two thoughts can exist at the same time. People can think Elon Musk is "far right" and go out the next day and buy a Tesla. People are complex.

Apple loves free speech as long as the speech agrees perfectly with their own. If you arent pro Cook's lifestyle agenda or pro their political agenda then they divorce themselves of you quickly.

Even if you are pro equal treatment they disown you. You have to bow down to their agendas to be on the 'nice' list.

I own a LOT of apple shares. And have made a lot of money off aapl over the years. BUT I would rather Cook go somewhere else so he can push his agenda somewhere else even if there was a price hit because of it.

Lol @ the amount of dislikes you get. It’s absolutely bonkers! Your analysis is spot on btw! Freedom of Speech is under attack. Massively! Scary times for sure.
Musk has factories in China he's got a TON of investment from there, he does a whole lot of business there. If he was "risking his money" he wouldn't have loans, and stock holders still, nor have loaded Twitter up with debt. He'd have just bought the thing.

Do you NOT know how much Telsa sells in China or something? Infact China is flooding Twitter right now with propaganda to hide tweets about the protests that are going on, and Twitter is actually removing Tweets PRO-protest. Musk isn't doing ANYTHING about that.

Please wake up to reality.

This is just a weird thing for the owner & CEO of the company to say about their product:

Either he seriously just doesn't understand why? Like, he's just not knowledgable about all of this?
Or he's being totally sarcastic & facetious, which in the long run can only hurt his company by letting any ad orgs left that would still advertise on his platform know that it's all downhill from here.

So, he's either dumb about the process or a dick about it?

I keep hearing this since before he took over and yet it seems the same to me. I found it trash before him and it remains that way. I don't really see any difference
I don't think it's the same. Twitter seems to be showing fewer ads now yet it has been bombarded with trolling posts.

There is no difference. Twitter is fine if you stay out of stupid political arguments and conspiracy theories. There's all sorts of other interesting things about life, and interesting people to interact with.

This is not about China.

It’s about freedom of speech!

Why didn't Elon Musk get rid of his iPhone? This pretty much sums it up.

I'm well aware but unless they did something ON THE PLATFORM TO VIOLATE THE RULES they are allowed on it.

Just like for all you know I've killed 20 people, eaten 8 of them had a criminal record longer than Shaq is tall. Unless I've broken MacRumors TOS I'm allowed on here still. Thats how things work.

Apple wants to promote its far leftist, pro gay agenda and doesn't like when someone calls them out on it. Previously, they enjoyed being promoted by liberal twitter engineers. If Apple isn't careful, they are going to end up in a major anti-tust, anti-competitive lawsuit if they block twitter. Elon has a lot of money, unlike Epic games to fight them.

Apple's stock dropped after Elon tweeted about this. This shows investors are not keen on Apple's actions.

To be fair, Apple has been doing this to Twitter for years because of app review. Twitter allows porn, for example, and Apple doesn’t. Many times Apple has rejected an app from review because it can be used to find porn, completely ignoring the irony of the fact that they ship Safari with the phone.

Personally I don’t think platform vendors should be deciding what apps I’m allowed to use because they simply dislike the (completely legal) content.

Apple does a lot of business with China. It’s no surprise they don’t like free speech.

Musk is showing us just how much corporations control our thoughts. He’s risking his wealth and status to do so. I didnt have strong opinions about him before he bought Twitter. But he is really impressing me with his dedication to free speech.
Its weird how US citizens expect foreign companies to obey US laws, but then believe US companies are not obligated to follow the laws in the countries they do business in.

The USA is only 4% of the worlds population, you do not get to dictate to the other 96%.
The USA is not the most democratic country, not the most free, etc etc etc
And NO, we don't all want to be US citizens.

This is 100% the truth. Not sure why people are downvoting his comment. You're either in denial or outright delusional if you don't think this is true.
Beat me to it. Anyone who thinks otherwise is lying to themselves with willful ignorance. There's a problem when a billionaire is in control of Twitter all of a sudden, who himself said it will be a transition, and new things will be thrown at the wall. People who can't keep negativity to themselves and jump at any chance to chime in with the mob "bad thing bad!" like a bunch of sheep. "In other news, Bad person said Bad thing, you don't like Bad thing, details at 8." If you ask any questions, you're a boot-licker or d*ck riding. Oh, and a bad person, most of all.
This is a 100% fact proven over and over.
I applaud you for having the patience to try reasoning with those who have a former president living in their head rent-free. As if this man is steering the ship. The people who claim that half of the country is against LGB freedoms, is racist, tried overthrowing the government, etc... are the same people falling for every media hoax*. Their soluction? Point fingers at orange man! Don't pay attention to what's happening right in front of you, it's that guy who did things years ago! The lack of self-awareness is staggering. It doesn't matter if you're a centrist or an anarchist, people can't handle being told they have no principles with moral relativism and revisionist idealogy.

The king himself Jussie Smollett, Russian collusion, Trump calling neo-nazis "fine people", Bubba Wallace garage pull (then recently he assaults a guy?), Covington catholic kids, Gov Whitmer kidnap plot, Kavanaugh rape, Trump pee tape, border agents whipping migrants, Steele dossier, Muslim travel ban, 'Don't say gay' was in a bill, Trump mocked a reporter's disability, SUV killed parade marchers (not a person, who's finally been convicted with a 1200+ year prison sentence), ivermectin is only a horse dewormer and has no human applications............

Tim Cook should deactivate and ban Elon Musk to buy/use iPhones, LOL. That would be hilarious! Jokes on who?

Why?
That lumps TC in with the others who want to control instead of allow.
Twitter is going to take some work - no instant fix like many seem to believe.

When you let corps control your speech, you have none.

Exactly.. It's like with Stable Diffusion apps now- some app devs are hesitant to continue app development due to the potentially risky things someone else could do. I liken it to buying a guitar. Am I going to record a cover version, note for note, of some song and then release it to make money? Or am I going to make up my own song...

Safari is the Guitar here. The medium is not the problem, it's the media.

Used to be the biggest EM and Tesla fan. Bought two of their cars. Moved to London and never looked back. Dude has gone far right.

Problem is that everyone has gone far one direction or another. Everyone looks far away when everyone is extreme. Sad that there truly can’t seem to be any reasonable discussion anymore, everyone goes straight to the extremes.

I realize that Elon is not the pinnacle of polite discourse, but it’s not a good thing that both sides just want to completely shut the other down.
