so is there any way to figure out how many goons there could be this early on?

If I remember correctly doesn't the boss have to 'work' to earn money to then hire the goon? Or does the boss start with some sort of fund to buy the goons?

I will be asking many more questions as we go, forgive me.

The boss starts with a finite number of goons that he placed around the house.

He can hire some more using money. No, he doesn't start with any money; it accumulates as the game progresses.

koodauw, do you get extra attack points when handling guns?
in that case you should get the first one

no worries QoS, just don't make a habit out of it, OK?

I am pretty skilled when it comes to guns. You might even say Im an expert. ;)

So DP what should our next move be. Search the room? If we find something and pick it up does that count as a move?

I know I'm not playing, does that mean I can't post in the thread? I just wanted to mention that I liked the way the door numbering started at the right-front corner of the house, but it should have continued sequentially with numbers 8 and 9. I can see skipping ahead to, say 15 for example, if some are discovered before others and the gaps are not filled in.

For what it is worth, it is a tactically universal numbering system for many militaries and swat teams that the front of the house is Side 1, and then left side is 2, rear is 3, and 4 is the right side, and the numbering of of apertures begins far right of Side 1 and continues sequentially as the apertures lay out in the clockwise rotation around to Side 4.

@ koodauw,
well, it's the sanfilippo's move, so we wait. hopefully it won't take too long.

when it's our turn again, we def should search the room, given it's an infirmary we might find supplies to heal up, and we should pick up the gun the goon dropped.
this would increase the attack points of whoever carry it, so if your experitise makes a better use of it, my vote is you get it.
i don't think picking up a gun counts as a move, but i am not sure.

actually, why don't i try: i pick up the goon's gun.

Don't Panic picks up the Goon's dropped gun and promptly discharges a round negligently into his own melon, dropping to the ground in a sudden and drastic death throe, convulsing uncontrollably until all movement ceases, and his entire musculature relaxes, releasing the contents of his involuntarily voided bowels and bladder. Don't Panic is dead.

Basically, you "explore" the room to pick up everything that the room contains at the time, including dropped weapons and/or items. So technically picking up just the gun doesn't take a turn, it's just done as part of the "exploring" move.

Sorry Queen of Spades, but good job with bringing her back to life DP. I chose that door because of the possibility that it could be a place for us to pick up some healing stuff.

Once it's our turn again we'll search the room with our first turn of the round. Does anyone have any input regarding which room we should move to next?

By the way, that had to be a fairly high level goon since he did 6 points of damage. Likely the Don was trying to protect whatever we'll find in this room.

i call the gun

Dang it Arn why can't I type in all caps? I feel like shout is acceptable here.

Should we split up yet?

I'm confused...you're not playing, right?

Should we split up yet?

I think one more turn, and both groups should have sufficient HP/AP for that make sense, right?

i think after the exploration we should go through the 'd10' door, to what i think is the corridor area. It should give us the most info about the layout.

edit: also, i think there might be stairs to go upstairs.

I suggest you avoid posting narrations like that, at least not in the standard color. It may confuse people. And, I say we switch to grey if we must comment on something.

As it happens, my legal practice handles only one account, as it is a small private practice, as it were, and, as a consequence, it is, perhaps, one of the lesser known corporate legal practices in our city. Such is the way of such things.

Nevertheless, I have been asked by my boss, Don Sanfillippo, to pass on a message and it is this: I wish to suggest that those who have not been invited to the Don's home consider refraining from offering opinions until asked, or invited, to do so, as their participation is.....superfluous.

Of course, the six unwelcome assassins currently trespassing in the lower floors of my Don's mansion have not been invited in, either. We shall endeavour to extend a warm welcome, one that is befitting their status. However, in the circumstances, it may be said that they are known unknowns, as a certain former office holder might have phrased such matters.

Unknown unknowns are another matter entirely, and their presence and contributions in the mansion must be considered in a different light.

Respectfully,

Scepticalscribe, Consigliere

I'm not supposed to post, but, our Enforcer has gone missing. He is only one who can make the moves. Unluckily he has gone MIA.

S and I have no idea when he'll return. We have conflicting stories in the PM system.

so, is there something to that rumor of shaun having an affair with your niece?

That might explain that barrel of acid we found in the basement.....

jokes aside, thanks for the update, jav.
however, this reinforces the need for deadlines. if they go by, then that part of the move is forfeited

I lol'd horribly at your joke. No one messes with my family.

Joke aside, forfeiting the Enforcer is like Forfeiting the entire bad guys' moves. Only the Enforcer can dictate what to do. However, he receives suggestions and is governed by me and S. If the Enforcer is gone, I or S have no way of leading the platoons. In other words, everything stays as is regardless of what you guys do.

then you gotta run your family more tight, Don. :p
no wonder you re losing market shares by the day.
but don't worry, you'll have nothing to worry about very soon.

and by 'soon', i mean 2014, at this pace :D

It seems that the acid in the basement may have been.....an oversight. Or, an attempt at......oversight.

Anyway, wayward Family members are nothing....new in this world. Why, as recently as sometime around two and a half millennia ago, the inimitable Aristotle bemoaned the tendency of young people to show disrespect to their elders.

i think it was plato quoting socrates, but i digress.

Are you lot gonna behave as a honorable Family is expected to, or are you gonna play a nascondino all day?

Just give us the Don, -he is finito anyway- and we might find you a place as a street-spotter

Since this game prohibits certain players from posting, I'd appreciate it if non-players respect this and abstain from posting if possible. Thanks!

Okay, it's (finally) over to you good guys.

Let's go!

Once it's our turn again we'll search the room with our first turn of the round. Does anyone have any input regarding which room we should move to next?

in the interest of time, i don't think anything significant happened to change these last instructions from mscriv
since it's an obvious move, i think everyone will agree on the exploration of this room
