Everyone says non issue...no big deal...you get used to it...everyone concerned is ridiculous.

I'm not saying people can't learn to live with it, but I'd be willing to bet money Ivy was pretty unhappy with that feature.

Personally, it wouldn't be a deciding factor...but to act like it doesn't matter at all given Apple's constant attention to design and detail is silly.

The notch doesn't bother me. What bother's me is that Face ID seems inconsistent. It's annoying if you leave your phone on the desk beside you and check it several times per hour. It's annoying if you're in bed. It's annoying if you grab it to unlock it and aren't looking right at it immediately (such as if you pull it out while talking to someone to look something up that you're talking about) and how it doesn't try again it just immediately goes to the number pad. That last part is the most annoying thing. I have to hit cancel and swipe again every time it can't get my face. Maybe I should shave and get contacts. I would have thought the machine learning would have kicked in since I've been using it for over a week now.
Enter the passcode when it doesn’t recognise you, it will get smarter.

My issue with the notch is that it blocks full screen content. Fortunately for video, you can not stretch it and see 100% of the video, but full screen photos and such have a chunk of view taken out. Might not be a big deal for the casual photo, but sometimes you want the perfect image, and you may have things pop in frame that you don't want, yet can't see. But back to video, what's the point of edge-to-edge if when watching video in full screen doesn't even show all of the video? Then you end up with "bezels" anyway.

If the notch simply acted as a notification bar area, and not an area where content overflows into, it'd be great, but content goes into it, and it's not optimized. Plus, we got a bigger screen and lost landscape modes for all the apps. No tabs in Safari, not multi-pane views for Messages, Mail, etc. It's like a slightly better and slightly worse Plus model. Just feels like a non-fully thought out approach to what the "next-gen" iPhone should have been.

Listen...it's still a great phone--probably best one on the market. But...I don't you deniers out there. This is so in your face anti-Apple, it's just amazing. They went with a god awful ugly design choice in order to push the face ID. That's not what Apple got big doing--that's silly stuff Samsung pulls all the time. How can you not understand this as Apple fans? What exactly were you fans of before if not the beauty and simplicity and NOT doing stupid crap like the notch?

Patience grasshopper. It'll all make sense in iOS 12.

Non issue. I seldom even notice it as many have said. Instead I am focusing on my large screen, and for me it fades away. I love my OLED screen. The notch does not bother me in least And I find I like Face ID better than Touch ID personally so the tech in the notch is doing the job I like.

I have to say that I love it, it looks so unique now, when they made it official back in september in the keynote, I really hated it, but now, I can see why they did that, otherwise it would look just like every other android phone out there.

If you like The Notch™ then you'll love the Fergus Hall Tarot deck...

Have you tried Battlestar Galactica paper?

I keep seeing everyone say they get used to the notch, or it’s not that bad. But I don’t see anyone saying they LOVE the notch. Tim will say it for them though, “People absolutely love our new notch feature. The response has been fabulous!”

There’s a notch? :)

Seriously I completely forget its there.

Since the only thing that goes up there are status icons anyway, you could argue the space in the middle was wasted all this time.

Now, if there was one that was the screen size of the plus...

The notch is a non-issue if you actually own the phone and apparently a huge issue for those who don’t or the media that needs to generate clicks.

This. I hate the notch, but I'm not buying the phone because of the pricetag.

Don't mind the notch. Just wish more apps had been updated for the iPhone X screen, especially games, some of which are unplayable presently, due to some of the content, controls been cut off. Hate using apps that have black bars top and bottom

I actually think the notch is all-right. To me its more like a design feature of the X. It adds character to the future of the iPhone. Before the X, we had the home button as the character. People see the home button at the bottom center of the iPhone and they know thats the iPhone, now I think people will recognize the iPhone X by the notch.

The 'notch' is so overblown it's ridiculous. Imagine if the notch went all the way across the top, it would be a bezel. Think of the notch like a full bezel with more room. Jeez, this is the dumbest discussion so far about any iphone.
Should just be a bezel tbqh..
