Ooooh...wonder if they threw a brick in. I'd be home to check the package if possible or pick it up at will call.

I wouldn't be surprised. I live on Long Island and my phone was routed through Newark, NJ and when I saw it was there I made a joke to my folks about it most likely getting stolen.

I'm at work, but the people home are going to open the package before they sign for it just to be sure it's a phone.

What was the shipping weight on the shipping label? if it was crazy light it just didn't get put in the box at the shipping center. Happened to people on the 4S launch.

Okay - just got the update. The baby was delivered successfully, it's a healthy, normal sized, 16gb black iPhone.

Crisis averted. :D

Now I need to wait to get home from work to activate it. :(

These people are idiots.

Apple has a record of the IMEI, so it's as good as useless and blacklisted.

It happens, once i ordered a macbook and received box with a couple of potatoes in it.

Or it will be sold abroad where the iPhone 5 in not available yet for a ridiculous amount.

That's why I don't pre-order online. Too risky imo, people at UPS know millions of iPhones are coming thru today, a few frustrated workers are bound to snatch one. Then again, I'm not ordering one until January though.

Picking it up at a brick and mortar is no guarantee either. I remember a few years ago when people buying iPods at BestBuy would get home and find they had purchased a box of rocks.

You couldn't tell it was empty? Do you have pics? I find this suspect.

I've had an iPhone 4S from ATT delivered a month ago. The receptionist for our company signed for the box and dropped it off at my desk. The moment I picked it up I knew it was missing the phone - but we already signed for it. Took us 2 weeks to get a replacement from ATT as we had to haggle with FedEx to get a claim number to take to ATT.

It can happen - but I imagine it is extremely rare.

Definitely feel the box before you sign!

Just got email from apple. iPhone is preparing for shipment!!!!! Hopefully get it in a few days!!!

i will be video taping my un boxing from when i take of the clear plastic till the phone is visible just in case! least that will hold up in court haha

How can you prove it was the factory plastic and not plastic reapplied when you remove the phone?

Except Apple does not blacklist anything. Its up to the individual network carriers to do that.

ATT finally just started doing it.

And Apple is quick to offer you another one right away free of charge? I'm just curious do they track the stolen phone? brick it or what?

All major carriers block esn and imei numbers in the USA now.

Apple/AT&T/sprint/Verizon have a serial number and imei number of phone when they shipped it out.

The stolen phone cannot be used in the USA. Although they could ship to internationally to use (especially if it were a Verizon iPhone since they have unlocked gsm sim)

No way it was the driver. Drivers are like saints compared to some of the other people handling these boxes. It's tempting for these low lifes, and before the proliferation of cams, UPS and other lost a lot of money more money than they do now.

It's not UPS's driver stole. Because the warehouse didn't put on your box.
When you call Apple, I think they checked with warehouse and found out something , that why you can get a new one from them easily :cool:

You can use it on a pre paid carrier.... cricket, etc....

Probably at a hub. As for the drivers being Saints, I had one of those Saints steal the cash COD amount that I sent a package for.....
