Too much drama for me. The jailbreak community is falling apart.

too much drama on a day where all jailbreakers should be happy and rejoice. I'll pass on this jailbreak and wait for the 6.1.3 jb for my iphone 4s

Winocm just announced he's done with the JB scene for now. Way to go, evasion ****tards. Hope the money was worth it.

the jailbreak community is filled with a bunch of whiny children. Most of us regular joes don't give a flying crap about a Chinese app; and have been waiting for a jailbreak for months, and now it comes out with some some app and devs want to complain about it. Guess what... if someone wants to pirate your apps they would still find the apps with the Chinese app or without it.

I don't blame evasion they are trying to get paid. Saurik has all the ads though out cydia so he gets paid.

You can also add DHowett and possibly chpwn to that list. At this point, whether this jailbreak was designed to allow a Chinese company to steal user data and distribute pirated apps is kind of irrelevant. By making a deal (whatever it was) and dropping the jailbreak without giving anyone else a heads up, the evad3rs have destroyed much of the trust the community is based on. I don't know what the long term implications for the jailbreaking scene are going to be, but I doubt they will be good. At the very least, I think we will see more than a few talented developers leave and head to android. Not a good day.

Obviously you don't have much in the way of critical thinking skills.

It has widespread implications for developers that you rely on, many of whom are pretty pissed off.

It's not just the jb team getting paid, it's who paid them. A Chinese company = Chinese govt. Wise up.

No, the jailbreak community was filled with decent developers and hackers, who used to a) enjoy what they do, b) earn a little bit of cash through donations (much less than a normal wage) and c) more than anything else, trusted each other. The entire community was built on trust.

Evaders have gone after a quick buck. And in doing so, have killed the trust that held the community together. Launching a jailbreak which, by default (in china), includes a repo full of cracked apps by other jailbreak developers? Surely you can see why that is wrong - and has infuriated not only devs but lots of users too.

Ultimately this will only provide fuel for Apple and the powers that be to say:

'Jailbreaking is enabling piracy, just like mod chips in consoles'. 'Make it illegal as upcoming legislation enables device unlocking and the sole purpose left is piracy'.

There are other reasons. Customisation. Running your own code. Theming. Countless tweaks.

People do like to focus on piracy though.

I really don't give a crap....but I also know that if ppl want their apps they could get them. In this day know one can be trusted especially when money is involved.

They found out Saurik was trying to release before them, didn't want to work with them. They released the one they spent their time developing. Absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Except for the part about screwing over any chance of jailbreaking the final release of 7.1, of course. Not to mention the Chinese app that is apparently an excellent repo for cracked apps, so the jailbreak devs get screwed there too.

Aside from those two minor things though nothing wrong with it.

Everyone relax.

You don't give a crap aye?
I'm sure you would if developers do up and leave. Pissing off the people that create all the software that makes a jailbreak great isn't the way to go.
Don't bite the hand that feeds you. Otherwise you'll have no software to download, let alone pirate.

But! But! Jailbreaking isn't about piracy! I swears! OMG

Jailbreaking is, always has been, and always will be PRIMARILY for piracy. The fact it can do other things is just the cover it needs.

Since you can't jailbreak without also allowing piracy, Apple fights it and rightfully so.

This proves it. Thanks lamevaders! Enjoy the $$$. Hope it was worth setting the scene back decades...

Wow thanks for stretching the page with that.

Uh no most people couldn't care less about free apps. Most of us just want features that are only available via jailbreaking. Don't make sweeping assumptions like that if you can't back them up.

lol for days here. decades??!!

its amazing the trolls day 1 brings out.

Well I think he means the next time this comes up in court, where people may not be as well versed as to what jailbreaking can be commonly used for. By having an app that has pirated software in it on day one, it looks really bad and paints the community in a bad light the next time Apple wants to make jailbreaking illegal.

IMO, I think the evaders team knew all about the malware/piracy and looked the other way. Money changes ethics and they are putting out this remark to try to save face and gain "trust" back.

If it doesn't work out, i think they just form a new team in the future and call it something else. Then everyone will forget and they'll repeat getting paid for another jailbreak.

I'm all for the team making money. The malware is what worries me. I restored and got rid of the jailbreak just in case there is other code in there that will leak/give a back door to my device.
