S6 with Purple Pulse sport loop. Definitely looks more blue to me, but still a nice band! (Picture taken in bathroom; it’s the only room that doesn’t have a very warm cast to the light).
I had the same impression when I opened mine. I would call it "blue" not "purple" but it still looks good.

Left Hyper Grape out to dry only to come back and find the sunset light was hitting it dead on. I think my Hyper Grape is possessed.

Most likely Fog. It was pretty common back in the day - the default band of silver Alu pre-studio, for NZ at least, I think on the S3 when I bought it.

Liking that white CB more than I would have expected, especially on white ceramic
It def feels like pure cardboard as always but I like the look. Matches the ivory California face too, despite what my iPhone white balance would have you believe.

Can’t wait to see the 44mm double tour on wrists

I am currently bidding on a CYR Apple band on eBay. Lots of competition on this, but I'm committed to winning and will pay up. I WILL HAVE THIS BAND. Currently my high bid at $208, but I'm not nearly done. When the snipers come in at the last second they're in for a surprise. I have a crazy reserve. The way I see it, this is the only band I want now. I'll bid up to the cost of 4 or 5 bands since this is my grail. Maybe I'll go even higher. Who knows...

Jesus Christ dude, I’ll sell you mine for a flat $250

The heart(?) wants what the heart wants!
Or whatever organ is involved in band collecting.

Whatcha gonna do?
Hey, if he has the funds, I’m all for it.

Then again, you could always try to be patient. I struggle to think of a band I overpaid for. I usually just wait until they pop up for a good price.

So as @mikedop, @athousandbands, @toxtrepla and @Martinpa know I've been away from the forums for a bit as I've been recovering from a slew of new injuries after being hit by a 14 year on a moped about two weeks ago on September 5th. This is just not my year. But for my fellow MOTs, Shana tovah! Hopefully 5781 brings us only good things!

I thought from your pics that you are always sitting by the pool? What was a moped doing driving through your pool area???

Thanks @kcmo @twanj @Cotypubby @FenC @MostlyARMless @jamieinoc @PurBle @Nancy&co for the well wishes! I greatly appreciate it! It's been a hard year but the support is heart-warming.

I hope you’re well on the mend @Pitch.

Does the gap bother you? I can’t unsee it - it’s like silver lugs on a black watch to me.
Looks worse than silver lugs on a black watch to me. They are charging $100 for recycled yarn and it doesn't even go to the end of the case? This is inexcusable to me...
I've got to agree - that looks a bit shoddy...

Also, get well soon @Pitch!
That gap on the sides is just terrible quality control by Apple. Unacceptable for such an expensive band.
Poor quality control would mean that many bands produced turn out worse than intended. This is not the case as all Braided Solo Loops are this way. So you could call it a poor design, but it has nothing to do with quality control.

Btw I was briefly in an Apple store today and to me, the gap is not a big issue as it is (as usual) less visible/pronounced IRL vs. blown-up pictures. Also, the regular Solo Loops are insanely comfortable if you find the right size.
...as others have posted, what on earth is going on with those gaps????

...the band/watch looks defective (I certainly would not purchase either if that's how its gonna look) ?!

It is bad quality control as according to Apple's product images, by design, it should look like this:

So yes, the band should fill the gap perfectly by design. If it was a €15 knock off I could live with it, but the gaps on the sides are unacceptable at €100. Bad quality. It's best to wait a little till these bands are how they are supposed to be, especially as you mentioned all of them are this way. While every other band in the past always filled the hole perfectly in line with the case (even cheap knock offs).
This is false advertising, then.

I still would say quality control is the wrong term as it implies that a certain percentage of a production batch is unfit for sale while the rest is fine. In this case it would be a 100% failure rate, which renders the term absurd. Hence I would rather call it a poor design.

You can wait, of course, but I don‘t think they will ever look like they do in the marketing pictures. If it is considered unacceptable, vote with your wallet and don‘t buy them. I‘m on the fence myself as I like the look and feel of them, but the price and the gap are certainly hard to swallow.
I gotta agree with @the future here. I really think the braided loops were designed this way. I agree that it's not the most precise attention to detail that we expect from Apple, but I consider myself a bit of a perfectionist and I can honestly say it doesn't bother me much. The braided solo loops are, in my opinion, both really attractive and super comfortable and they also bridge the gap (better than the bands themselves 😂) between casual and formal, so to me this is a minor flaw and not a dealbreaker. In fact, I've picked up the other three braided solo loops that are currently on sale and if you look at the bands head on as one would usually you don't notice the gap, it is only from the side at a certain angle that it is noticeable.

Not only braided loop but the solo band also shows the lug gap?!

That looks like a 40 mm band on a 44 mm Watch.

FWIW we‘ve seen many pictures/videos with perfectly aligned Solo Loops and not one picture/video with a perfectly aligned Braided Solo Loop.
That is correct. I’ve seen the gap in several solo loop videos. Yet more proof that these new bands are a disaster. Apple needs to dispense with them forthwith and go back full time to sport bands.
@the future is again correct. This is 40mm band on my 44mm. Apple Stores have limited demos and only had the Pink Citrus solo loop in size 4 in a 40mm size. My other picture in my previous post wearing the Dark Navy shows no gap as far as I can tell.

Dude, I think you need to stay inside until 2020 exits the planet.... Hit by a kid on a moped? WOW....

I mean, how can you buy watch bands if you're in the hospital? Welllllllll..... I guess you could purchase with an iPhone while you are laid up..... 🤕
Thankfully it was only one night in the emergency room and a dozen subsequent doctor visits to three endodontists (an emergency splint and one of possibly four root canals so far), a periodontist (will need gum surgery), a general dentist (got my teeth bonded and will need laminates), a dermatologist (will need plastic surgery) and an ENT (my smell lost from COVID is coming back, the good news of the last two weeks) and coming up a plastic surgeon, orthodontist (will need braces again to correct my teeth that were knocked back) and orthopedist (not sure if I fractured my arm and ankle again or if they're just aggravated). I can't imagine what two weeks in the hospital would look like beyond all the expenses from this.

I thought from your pics that you are always sitting by the pool? What was a moped doing driving through your pool area???
I was riding a bike going straight and a 14 year old who had no business riding a moped at all made a left turn without looking and hit me. Back in NYC so no more pools anyway but my last week in Florida was also spent out of the sun in order to not worsen the scarring on my lip, face, leg and arms. But would've been funny if it were a Ferris Bueller scenario!

That really sucks. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. 2020 is telling you to stay by the pool. I think you should listen.
