I’ve had a number of bands that I’ve felt lukewarm about when paired with the silver al case, but now like a lot more with the gold ss, including grapefruit which I’m wearing today. Glad I didn’t sell them. I’m now slightly obsessed with getting cactus but trying to rein in my spending.
One other thing - before I got the ss, I had some concerns about the watch feeling too heavy compared to the aluminum but I’ve been wearing it a week now and can’t say I’ve really noticed a difference.

Purple Pulse Nike Sport Loop.
Something of a return to the monochrome winter18 look. Basically if you lightened the Indigo Sport Loop and replaced the red and gold threads with silver and the reflective thread.
Also has the diagonal moire of the HC/NG sport loop, as we’ve discussed.

Oooh, exciting. As non-loop collector I can sit back with my virtual popcorn knowing my wallet is safe, and watch these come on stream and then inevitably disappear as they find their way into collections.
Very cool. Would be interested to see the loops for countries with more complicated flags. Apple never showed a willingness to do stripes in the sport loops (and judging by the 3rd party examples out there, with good reason). I wonder if we might have seen the 2-tone edge style that we now have with the Fall 2020 sport loops had the Olympics gone forward this year. I also wonder if we will see these bands if the Olympics are held next year as currently planned.
I wonder how they choose the countries? A funky little band app I’ve got tells me there was no Denmark last time.

Well, I guess we could still see them... it’s definitely a unique situation. It’s just that I don’t think an unreleased band that still set to release would leak like this. It hasn’t happened before, and the only other band we saw before hearing about from Apple release was the unreleased Chinese New Year.
I suppose with Apple’s top-class JIT supply chain, you’d never normally get stuff rolling off the production line a year before release. Must be a warehouse full of them somewhere...
14 last time - if Denmark is an indication of them upping the numbers, this is going to be a real wallet-burner for some of us.
206 competing countries. Denmark has 120 competitors, so if they made a band for every country with over 100 competitors, that’s a more reasonable 34 bands..
Mmmmm... £/$1,666... Sounds devilishly expensive.
How about they release each country’s band in it’s own country, as well as in Tokyo, so you could at least support your ‘team’.
Could also lead to a fiendishly complicated group-buy...

Assuming they make a band for every one of these countries, that’s 34 bands. I have a feeling there’s a simplified number, though. We had 14 countries turned into bands in 2016, but Apple likes to outdo themselves, so I’ll guess somewhere around 20 countries made the cut. No way to know the real numbers though, not until Apple says something themselves.
