Does anyone else feel like the silver lug on the braided solo loop sticks out a little more now? Likely the cost of doing business with a watch redesign. Could just be the corner more than anything, as you can see in my second Cherry pic.

Or maybe they realized last years were horrendous and looked awful with how they looked. It’s the band that’ll never sit flush inside the insert. Carpet loops.

Sooo, I ordered some new sport band colors (English Lavender, Dark Cherry and Clover), plus the Saddle Brown leather link in case it's discontinued. I adore Clover, and it's one of the few sport bands I might actually wear regularly. I also love the Saddle Brown leather link for every day. I've been wearing Chalk since it came out, and it's time to change it up. So far I'm pretty meh about English Lavender and Dark Cherry.

I guess with starlight replacing silver and midnight replacing space gray, the sport band pins no longer match the cases (with the exception of the silver SS and Hermès SBSS)?

Sorry to quote from a few pages back, but just wanted to wade into the whole Starlight/Midnight vs Silver/SpaceGrey debate,

Personally, in my opinion, I’ve never really understood the appeal of the special-coloured aluminium trend that was started last year with Blue and Product Red with the Series 6 - sure, nice enough to look at, but in the Apple Watch world with band collection, there are very few bands you can match them with. So I imagine they’d appeal more to people that just get one band and stick with them for the entire lifespan (so like, not people on this thread). This year, with the Series 7, Silver and Space Grey are out, replaced with Starlight and Midnight, which are more beige/dark blue, respectively, while the other colours are red, blue and a new green that very pleasantly reminds me of 11 Pro Midnight Green - but the thing is, with the blue, red and green, you’re quite limited with matching bands to them. Silver and Black meanwhile are only available if you upgrade to Stainless Steel or Titanium - or buy an older Apple Watch in aluminium, interesting!

I mean so far, do people here prefer the new Starlight/Midnight watches or the classic Space Grey and Silver?

I actually had similar thoughts to you when the apple watch was revealed. When there was no real space grey in the aluminium range, I thought Apple wants people to upgrade to stainless steel to get a more mainstream look to match with bands/jewellery etc. I personally am not upgrading this year because I have an S6 which I'm happy with, but I wondered if any of these would match my rings! Because I have a space grey watch and it matches well right now.

That being said, I do still think starlight could match a lot with bands still. I'm unsure about the other colours though. I don't think midnight will match as much. I would actually happily go for starlight if I was upgrading this year.

Obviously we haven’t seen them IRL yet and Apple renders can and will be misleading but in some thread here I saw a picture of Black and Midnight leather cases next to each other and the difference in color saturation was very much noticeable. It sure seems Apple wants Midnight to be a dark dark blue, not black with a hint of blue tone.

I might change my mind but at the moment I feel like I won’t get a new Watch until they bring back neutral colors (I only buy Nike so higher end models which still have neutral colors aren’t an option).

Starlight seems every bit as „neutral“ as Silver, as it is silver, just a different, slightly warmer shade. For Midnight we‘ll just have to wait for real-life pictures and videos to see how “blue“ this very dark material actually looks. FWIW, to me both look nicer than their predecessors.

I don't see any silver on my Dark Cherry braided sport loop and I have a SB SS so it would show. :)

WatchOS8 - I don't really remember when my various bands were released, and with no names in the new list to select colours from, I'm a bit lost. Is there a list of watch colour sorted by release date, with names, anywhere, so I can look up while selecting for watch faces? The Bandbreite one isn't too manouverable.

It’s a scandal how poorly thought through this interface is. There’s no real solution but sorting BBreite chronologically. But of course the color list isn’t 1:1 with the band releases.

If it makes you feel any better, by the time I got to my fourth watch, it did get easier. 🤦🏻

So these are the names for the "Spring 2015" colours, but I can't find any that match BBreite after White/Green/Blue for that season.
Final edit: subject to error. Hopefully BBreite will come up with something less hideous. I'd love, and certainly pay for, a function in the app where my band collection appears checked in a layout like this new selector in the WatchOS.

Edit: more seasons.
I was planning to do this…and then I got my watches setup and lost all motivation because the screen with the circles is so triggering. There’s also this behavior, maybe intentional, where when you go back to the main face screen in Watch.app, the color is still there!

wow, that looks awful! who thought this was a good idea??
Charitably I’m hoping it’s someone who was given very little time to do it before being whisked away to some other task.

I will say my s3 feels way better on OS8, obviously it was given some attention because of the redesign of the face editor.

Excuse the triple post but I realized the sport loops can settle my question about lug shape. Looks like 45mm lugs are ever slightly bigger/rounded out for the s7. Extremely subtle to the point of why even inquire, but there you have it.

It appears a colour is kept in the selector, if it's checked via any watchface.
But isn’t there only one master color list? I do think the color disappears with time. It’s just maddening to try to confirm you zapped the right one and then not really know what you went back and pressed. But hey now we have a cheat list!

The bigger issue is now navigating to the color when wearing the band. I’m pretty good with knowing when bands came out chronologically, but what about colors that you use for bands not named in the list? I guess easier to just use the new generic color list for those.

And wait now I’m going through my watch.app and none of my chosen colors are listed anymore, but they’re still on the watch. What!?

I wonder why Apple doesn't offer a golden aluminum AW 7 and no more sand pink or at least a normal sports band in chalk pink 🤔 It feels like 70% of the watches here are worn by women with this combination 🤷🏼‍♂️ And I can almost see the solo loop here never what I understand because I don't like it either 😅
