I know. I just hate returning stuff, but I did order a starlight solo loop in a size 4 to try. If it fits pretty comfortably, knowing it will stretch I'll go ahead and return all my 5s after my other 3 arrive, and maybe just order one more since y'all have me scared of buying so many solo loops now.

I guess I am curious though - if you had several and the same one wasn't getting worn daily, wouldn't they stretch less quickly and last longer?
If it was worn daily, like some people do, I would think any issues would become evident much quicker. Most people in this forum likely only wear the same watch band once or twice a month. Lol.

Do we have reports of silicone solo loop stretching?
I personally dont own the solo sport…. Tried it but couldn’t stand the feeling on my skin. Just felt like a thick rubber band on my arm with moisture build up under it. 😖
I do however remember this article from 9to5 saying some were snapping or getting micro tears.

Reports say that Braided Loops stretch, Solo Loops...snap 🥲🥲

The first can be avoided/mitigated by putting them on differently or the wash/tumble dry method, the second only happened very, very few times (in relation to the huge number of bands sold). This whole thread is turning into much ado about nothing.

That wasn‘t the question, though. The question was weather the regular Solos stretch, and I believe the answer is no.
Yep, you’re right, I realize that wasn’t the question. Leave it to me to go off on a tangent…. I was merely referring to other documented pitfalls that have been reported. Obviously how the band is treated/used must play into these cases.
As for stretching…. reported or not, when Apples own site says “*band may increase in length over time.”…. it must have occurred in their testing at some point, otherwise why would they state it?.
When they said the MagSafe cases might get a big ol’ ring embedded on the back they weren't kidding about that! The leather case I had for 12pro had a huge ring on it after a months use. Now if I had 30 cases and only used one each day a month it would take much longer for the use to become apparent. I suspect the people reporting issues with the solo sports are likely wearing the same band daily for extended periods and it likely really won’t affect those who rotate though large collections. This doesn’t negate the fact the issue may exist. Perhaps it does, perhaps not.
End of the day, apple has warned customers. If the bands do stretch “over time”…. we shouldn’t be shocked. We were warned.

Did they state that for the regular Solos, though? I thought that disclaimer was only in the description of the Braided ones?

At the risk of more equine abuse, here’s the Store support copypasta:

“The bands themselves are made to stretch over time but not in an exaggerated way, instead they accommodate to the user's wrist becoming standard and not too tight/loose, so overtime it doesn't even feel like it's there, this is for both varieties.

The silicone one has the note added as silicone as a material can stretch but sometimes it can be quite harder, it depends overall on the way it was manufactured, whereas the braided naturally stretches with no complications.”

It sounds as though they are saying that if the bands are over stretched or abused, the braided has more chance to return to its initial length than the silicone?
Is that what you take away from it as well? 🤷🏻‍♂️

My apologies to everyone here…. I didn’t mean for this to turn into a doom and gloom topic…. My take away is that as long as one is care-full and doesn’t purposefully stretch them out for poops and giggles, they will likely not have issues. 🤞🏻

I especially like yellows against the starlight...they really bring out the warmth.
They definitely put all of the Apple magic into this new finish, which I guess makes sense because it’s going to be around throughout the product lines for awhile. Warm when you want it to be, but also has that cool pink/purple tone in the right bright light.

It took a second for it to sink in that there’s a “gold” Nike now. 🙌🌟✨

When they anounced Midnight and Starlight and removed silver and grey, my initial thought was that Apple was dropping the ball. But I have to agree with you. Both Starlight and Midnight are proving to be really interesting finishes. The Midnight can look completely black, then surprise you with that subtle blue sheen, but the Starlight seams to really steal the show and take on numerous different tones!
If I hadn't had my heart set on a ceramic or Natural Ti finish for series 7… I may have chosen one of these two instead. One thing is for sure….. it spruced up the options for those who perhaps felt the space gray and silver colour ways were becoming stagnant.
Keep on pumping out those classic bands on Starlight pics…. they’re great!

I was all for the switch up and avoiding stagnancy and was even mocking up black aluminum, but I think by definition Midnight matches fewer bands than Space Gray, right?

In the sense that black creates a harder contrast and blue can create more color mismatches. The former being my subjective issue with SBSS and to some degree SBTi

Yep…. Agreed. I had SBTi last year….. finding the NaturalTi matches up to damn near anything I throw at…. That wasn’t the case last year. Starlight likely matches up better to most bands than Midnight. I do still like Midnight though….

Yep…. Agreed.

Disagree. There is so much black and so little blue in Midnight, it basically goes with everything … if you feel that black (like white) goes with anything, which many people do.

For me personally, Space Grey was always the most meh Watch of them all and doesn‘t go particularly well with any band/colour except blacks and dark greys.

As for Starlight, I really have to see it IRL some time. If the finish is actually less dull than the Silver always was, S8 might be my first Aluminium Watch since S0.

I've been a pretty die-hard silver and stainless user because I wear white gold, and just like things to match. I held off ordering my S7 because I wasn't sure what I'd think of starlight on, even though I thought it was a really great color. I almost went back SS because I was worried about color, even though with SS, I don't love the weight.

In the end, I am very happy with my Starlight, and glad I went that route, although I definitely prefer the bands with no lugs since none of mine match. I think that's what has really drawn me to the leather link, and solo bands - they look so nice without any exposed hardware.

I loved the original gold of the watches, before it went pink. Starlight reminds me of a nice blend of silver and the original gold. I'm super happy with it.
