In the second pic, the band to the below/right of pink…. second gen product red? Quite a bit different than the first gen. And the Inverness Green calls to me….. should've Pulled the pin when I had the chance.

That green is the one I ordered at launch. It was when they had all the sizing issues, and it was too big. When I returned it, the delivery dates were so far out, I didn’t reorder. Regret it.

What has the stretch been like for your bands? You seem to have every single color of the braided loops. I guess that means you don’t wear one of them much more often and the others though.
Somehow the Red2 I got today used and without a box is much shorter than the sealed retail Red1 I can’t have worn more than nine times. I’m guessing it was just longer than the average size 7 out of the box, but it def has always felt a little slidey and now has clearly stretched a little.

For 40mm the size 7 feels much tighter out of the box so I don’t think I’ll notice those feeling too loose for awhile. Granted I think the fact that the 44mm case is so much bigger relative to the band than the 40mm case (this seems correct, right?) must make it slide down my wrist more.

This whole issue is confounding and hard to wrap your head around and hard to square with the price point, which I’ve defended in the past based on the combination of formal and casual and athletic performance you get out of it. And now my bf wants to move down to nine for his next one, which makes me feel guilty for finding him so many yoinks in a ten.

The extreme circularity and obfuscation of the Apple Support message I posted upthread gets at it perfectly haha. Look at it closely and it’s almost meaningless.

I’ll never wear a braid often enough to say “oh it hasn’t stretched” and defend them. But I do put on a silicone every day to workout for an hour and it’s def not stretched, though I do have the luxury of always slipping it off with the running shower water, which I highly recommend to cut down on the friction of the sensor as you get it over your thumb knuckle. Just to wrap up the entire solo loop discussion a year on.

In both pics it’s Pink Punch—Red2—Red 1. I started labeling the spread out one in my usual fashion but my recent issue with switching to a non-XDR display became a showstopper on my 2014 iMac. The image was just not importing in a usable way.

Also was on Pixelmator Pro for the first time, although not using ProRAW because it kills the rich blues. Although I guess I could import the untouched DNG and see what Pixelmator does to the colors…workflow creep is a constant threat haha.

But yes the new red is so much more vibrant and pink than the first one.

What’s your take on Abyss Blue vs Atlantic Blue? I gravitate more towards Abyss.

I never fell in love with Atlantic even though it’s an obviously appealing middle of the road blue but I also don’t have it for my SSS which ended up being a mistake. So yeah Abyss wins. Teals have so much depth.

Do you guys see any significant difference in the Clover solo versus sport band in terms of color? If one of them is slightly brighter than the other, I want to get that one.

It does seem like in some lights/angles the sport band is slightly greener, but if I zoom into the two together they look the same.

Disagree. There is so much black and so little blue in Midnight, it basically goes with everything … if you feel that black (like white) goes with anything, which many people do.
I just believe that Midnight looks way more dark and black and way less blue in real life vs. Apple‘s hero picture. So all I‘ve seen and heard so far makes me believe that Midnight works just as well with black/grey bands as Space Grey did … and better with other colours.
Ok let me throw out the blue issue. I’m just way too self-conscious about black throwing things into too harsh a contrast versus the slight increase in forgiveness of lighter gray. But I will also trust you and have high hopes for seeing Midnight in the flesh.
It ain't as blue as it is in hero pictures but show it some daylight (pictures taken inside on overcast day) and it is definitely more blue than black. Space Gray matched every single band in my collection, now with Midnight I have plenty of bands which clash horribly at least in my picky eyes. Like Plum here. And it definitely isn't as nice with black bands either.

Interesting example how different Solos and SBs of the "same" colour can really look. To my eyes, in these pictures, the SB is much yellower/warmer.

Interesting example how different people's eyes see the same objects/colours differently IRL. I have read tons of user reports that say the Midnight is basically black 99% of the time.

Seems like Apple updated the lineup. As far as I can remember, there’s some new Sport Loop colours and they discontinued some colours across the board. For example there’s only three Modern Buckle colours and some Leather Link colours (at least California Poppy) are gone. May have to check with Bandbreite to confirm.

Looks like they took away all the series 6 band choices on the “add to bag” page, most of which have been out of stock since September anyway.

A nice clean break after series 5 colors stuck around forever last year.

Hmm...so last year when the sport bands were “dry,” the solo loops were richer, but now that the sport bands are wet/gooey again, some combination of the silicone and the UV sparkle has rendered them more frosty than their sport band counterparts.

I see a little bit of difference. The right the warmer, has a little bit of yellow. Same color difference with silicon iPhone cases and the sport bands. Close, but not the same.:)

Is anyone else less than impressed with the Sport Loops this season? I don't want any of them and that is a first for me. I just thank god for Clover and English Lavender. I bought them both and they are gorgeous!
I don’t know if you go for the “default/neutral” that comes in XL but Tornado/Gray is surprisingly nice irl. I’ve slowly come around on just about all of them as I’ve grabbed them at various levels of yoink, lots of contrast and pop to the stripe style, plus very off-kilter shades, they suffer more than usual in the flattened hero images.

But, for instance, if Cherry/Forest didn’t call out to you when revealed, and you don’t have a gold or green watch, then seeing that one in person isn’t gonna change your mind.

I'm right there with you. I find this Fall's Sport Loop selection to be completely underwhelming. None of them interest me. At all.

I hear you. I would have a hard time returning to aluminum for that reason Alone. I’ve often tried to reason it out in my mind….. go aluminum, cheaper price on the Watch, cheaper Apple Care, if the screen scratches you have 2 claims per year…. It would be cheaper in the end even with 2 claims in a year…. But I know if my screen got one scratch it would drive me nuts looking at it every day so I’d have to get the screen replaced. Just seams as though it would all be such a pain in the ass though. Easier to just go SS or Ti. 🤷🏼‍♂️
This is actually what I'm struggling with now! I have a SS S4 and love the sapphire screen. I'm debating between stainless and aluminum for my next watch. Same back and forth in my head as you, plus the thought that after a certain number of watches I'll have paid as much as I did for the mechanical watch I plan to wear for life. But I also know scratches will drive me crazy! My family all has aluminum watches and I never notice scratches on their's but I'm also not looking up close whereas I'll be looking at this thing all the time on my own wrist!

I guess resale value comes into play as well… my Ti’s and SS’s screens have always looked like new after a year which I believe helps them hold their value. I never keep a watch more than a year. I normally have a watch spoken for to sell to a buddy the next year…. Before it has been delivered to me! Lol.
I always cave and go the expensive route as that’s what my friends seem to want as well….. let us know what you decide when time comes.

Will do! I'll probably end up going SS in the end. lol. I don't upgrade annually (obviously since I'm using a S4) so it means I'd be looking at scratches for a long time, lol. And since AC+ doesn't cover cosmetic damage I'd basically have to break the screen to have it replaced for scratches 😂

On topic band-related question: in your experience, is the sport loop ideal for running? How strong is the velcro? I usually work out in a sport band (wear it one notch tighter when working out) but am considering that tornado/grey sport loop!

Generally speaking, I don’t like the look of the sport loops on my wrist, but I do have a couple of them specifically for running. I‘d say they are ideal, breathable, adjustable, the Velcro does become looser over time, but not to the point of being afraid that suddenly it won’t hold the watch. You mostly notice it when trying on a brand new sport loop, and you can feel a little bit of a difference in the Velcro. Only downside is that it gets wet and sweaty, so you need to wash it more frequently and longer than the sport bands, but if you want to use it just for running, like me, it won’t be a problem.

Thank you! That's really helpful. I'll only really be using it when running or maybe around my place when I want that infinite adjustment. I tend to like the sport loop on others but feel like it looks weird on my own wrist!

So far I have never been sure which watch to take with this band. But Desert Sand / Black goes really well with Starlight. Unfortunately, you can't see it very well in the photo. The light, warm color of the case and strap go together as well as the classic silver and pure platinum / black.
