Soooooo, winter band drop any day right?
In real world it probably works better than the pics on Apples site. Do you think the grey looked better than midnight with black/grey bands?Disagree. There is so much black and so little blue in Midnight, it basically goes with everything … if you feel that black (like white) goes with anything, which many people do.
For me personally, Space Grey was always the most meh Watch of them all and doesn‘t go particularly well with any band/colour except blacks and dark greys.
As for Starlight, I really have to see it IRL some time. If the finish is actually less dull than the Silver always was, S8 might be my first Aluminium Watch since S0.

If you hadn’t said it was midnight I would have thought it was SBTi…
I feel that the starlight is still a “dull” finish, but I assume that’s just the nature of anodized aluminum. I wish it was a little shinier, but at least the warmer color gives the impression of some pearliness. And I think the ambient lighting really affects how it looks. The overhead lights at my Apple store are bright cool white, so the starlight watches on display look very silver. My lighting at home is all 2700 Kelvin, so under them the starlight’s warmth comes out. In bright outdoor sunlight, it’s more silver. Right now I’m sitting at my kitchen table on a mostly overcast day and in the natural light coming through the windows, the starlight looks warm again. It’s just lovely and I am so happy with it. I take back the bad things I said about starlight right after the Apple event.Disagree. I don't know... I wear a size 4 and I just don't feel like I have noticed stretching at all. Maybe it depends on how tight you wear it to begin with? Mine are not very tight on me.Well, all this talk about the bands stretching and not really lasting has me second-guessing my order of 3 more solo loops. I absolutely love the way the size 5 fits, but I don't wear my bands tight. I am certainly concerned now that if the 5 stretches, it'll be too big, and it seems like stretching is a certainty.
Guess I definitely need to try a 4.
Yeah, they are pretty much the same from afarIf you hadn’t said it was midnight I would have thought it was SBTi…

Yup. I don't really have an option because it is closer to being too big than too small, and I have a 45mm watch, so there is nothing smaller. That's why I was thinking maybe they only stretch if you wear them tighter than I do-- because I don't notice any stretching. Of course, as others have said, if you have a big collection, you're also not going to wear any given band all that much. You wear a size 4 solo? Same size in braided?
I'd say (and hope) that it's still possible.Soooooo, winter band drop any day right?
Ok let me throw out the blue issue. I’m just way too self-conscious about black throwing things into too harsh a contrast versus the slight increase in forgiveness of lighter gray. But I will also trust you and have high hopes for seeing Midnight in the flesh.I just believe that Midnight looks way more dark and black and way less blue in real life vs. Apple‘s hero picture. So all I‘ve seen and heard so far makes me believe that Midnight works just as well with black/grey bands as Space Grey did … and better with other colours.
(band check November 2020) = deep navy, ginger, red4, cyprus, pink cit, kumquat, norf blue, plumI'd say (and hope) that it's still possible.
Given that the Series 7 was literally 1 full month later than every prior release, I think it's fair to allow a similar delay to the winter bands. They need to let the fluoroelastomer simmer a little bit, right?
Recent winter release dates:
2020-11-10 & 2021-11-13
So.. perhaps this week? That would be only ~2 weeks later than usual.
i have SBTi and did have to look closely. Of course it’s the sapphire crystal that I’d miss most! ;-)View attachment 1920185
I hear you. I would have a hard time returning to aluminum for that reason Alone. I’ve often tried to reason it out in my mind….. go aluminum, cheaper price on the Watch, cheaper Apple Care, if the screen scratches you have 2 claims per year…. It would be cheaper in the end even with 2 claims in a year…. But I know if my screen got one scratch it would drive me nuts looking at it every day so I’d have to get the screen replaced. Just seams as though it would all be such a pain in the ass though. Easier to just go SS or Ti. 🤷🏼♂️i have SBTi and did have to look closely. Suggesting that we already have enough, so a winter batch is unnecessary? I disagree. We have a lot, yes -- but that's because they need to do a wide range of spectrum in order to complement the (absurd, imo) number of watch body colors. That's what is skewing things.Ok let me throw out the blue issue. The rubenesque individual has sung.
But are marigold/english/cherry not perfect winter analogues to last year’s drop? What aluminum colors do they match?Suggesting that we already have enough, so a winter batch is unnecessary? In the second pic, the band to the below/right of pink…. second gen product red? Quite a bit different than the first gen. And the Inverness Green calls to me….. should've Pulled the pin when I had the chance.
