That seems like a serious upgrade. That said, the cameras have been really good for a long time now. Will this be a huge upgrade over the cameras in the XS?
Absolutely, I’m still on my XS Max with dying battery, and the 13 Pro Max should be a big jump for me, although after reading the specs am still considering 12 Pro instead, because the differences are really tiny.

It is funny to see how unknown low-profile Product Managers from Apple are presenting the new Apple products.
Yep, that was telling how no one well known seemed to want to associate his face with this weak event, where the only exciting parts were the landscapes and oversized empty theaters.

Next up... Wait for the October event.

I’m not going to lie. I really missed Craig Federighi and Phil Schiller. I’m pretty sure they were being missed by many others.
Totally agree, delivery of each product update was just too perfect, where was the fun? Miss Craig/Phil very much, their delivery was fun and interesting. Along with pitch perfect delivery last nights ‘showcase’ was very disappointing, small mods to existing kit, IMO spending too much time on the ‘car’ and not enough on the innovation that we can afford and use day to day.

The ‘Apple negativity’ we see yearly is typical on discussion forums like this.

For those who were wanting to upgrade one of the previous Apple Watch models, probably isn’t a target demographic for the Series 7. But for those who own an Apple Watch Series 3 or older, definitely would appreciate the upgrade.

My point is, It really depends on where you are with what you own that you would appreciate an upgrade to the iPhone or Apple Watch, but not every year has to appeal to everybody in terms of what Apple offers.

These Products will still be wildly popular, aside from a very vocal minority on Macrumors that says otherwise.
Basically - you're right. But did somebody asked you "hey bro is this the NEW iPhone" recently? And - I don't know - are people still queueing up in front of the stores?

Even lots prominent people gave Apple the finger about their butterfly keyboards #1 #2 #3.

But the majority like my mother, who owns a MacBook on my recommendation, doesn't complain on any forum. She doesn't know anything about CSAM. She has an opinion when told and explained but shed doesn't know what she could do about it.

The iPhone #13 - ok, you can record ProRes videos what is really cool. But it does not have a removable storage like an sd card and it doesn't have USB-C for high speed/volume data transfer while the iPad Pro (that you should use for editing) has ..?
So when a friend of mine who is filmer/photographer asks me why, my default answer is "because it is Apple".

Apple is reading those forums, and sometimes it makes more sense to write a comment in comparison to writing a feature request. The mighty marketing department controls Apple ...

P.S: I don't know if the iPhone #144 will still be wildly popular. Maybe the amount of environmental waste produced will be.

It’s amazing that anyone could downvote this. It’s basic common sense. Some people act like Apple is disrespecting their entire bloodline if a new product doesn’t make them want to upgrade there and then. No one at Apple tells people to upgrade every year. That is just some consumers’ self imposed expectation because they want the latest shiny thing to bring meaning to their life.

Does the Apple Store count? Have a 12 mini and already getting pop ups to compare it to the 13 😂

They offer you the choice to upgrade. They even want you to upgrade. They don’t tell you to upgrade. If every new iPhone was totally amazing they’d be making our coffee and buttering our toast by now.

I remember when each new iPhone would bring new features like Siri or the App Store to the table. Now, the upgrades are so subtle that only people like us can decipher them.
This is sooo true.

But to be honest… This was an “S” year. I think Apple STILL has a ton of things to come. Redesigned iPhone will probably be next year unless they keep this design 3 years in a row. Redesigned Watch, redesigned Macs etc. Lot of stuff coming.

Not trying to be negative but I miss the Steve jobs era apple events and being blown away when Steve trialed a new product live on stage, now we have a 'tick box' virtue signalling self congratulatory circle jerk Hollywood production from the flying saucer with lackluster +1 'meh' incremental upgrades.

I can't think that there is a bigger Apple fan than I am. I've been a customer since my very first Apple II in the late 70's and Apple stock comprises the majority of my investment portfolio. Even I have to say that this keynote was underwhelming and disappointing. The Apple Watch in particular seemed to be the slightest iteration forward. Maybe you're too young to remember the true excitement of a Steve Jobs keynote? I miss Apple announcements that surprise and delight... that really push these products categories forward. Never has Tim Cook seemed so gray.

You’d be gray too if you had to wander that huge building in a circle alone for two years.

I think we have long past the point where any normal humans NEED or UNDERSTAND most of the new features in Apple devices. The functionality of the new iPhone is so far advanced it’s like hearing Mr. Lamborghini explain why you should upgrade to the next Aventador model because they’ve changed the pistons from blue nanotubes to orange ones to smooth the G-forces on turns when you are driving underground with Ryan Reynolds stuffed in the trunk. I mean, how many of us are gonna need that?

Oh, and Fitness+…now with new improved cult vibes.

I didn't get to watch the announcement yesterday, remembered in the middle of the night and rushed to get the overview - well I didn't miss anything big, the new iPhones look nice as always but it's an incremental update I see no need to go nuts over, the iPads are nice (what's up with the Mini that's more of a Mini Pro than a normal Mini and costs more than the entry-level iPad now tho?) - it's surprising we go overboard for such small updates nowadays.

Frankly, the only thing I'm genuinely surprised by is the notch - seriously, in 2021, it's still there?

Maybe I‘m jaded after a few decades of Apple gear because I only watched about 10-minutes of the event. The presenters were stiff as a board. Not sure if they drank a gallon of starch the night before or what. Plus, it’s not very convincing when Tim Cook stands there with his iconic stone face and says, “We are so excited about …xyz”. More on point, until Apple fixes some of the systemic bugs in iOS, I’m just not interested this time around.
lol. I was thinking that too. Not the best presenters this time around. Where was the passion? Just read a script off a board.

Tim is a ball buster no doubt. Or maybe he’s just boring.

that all aside, some very talented people at apple making these guys look good.

I wish Apple would go back to just releasing one or two products in each category every year. There are too many iPad's. Too many iPhone's. The problem now is that even iOS/iPadOS is being hindered because devices that are 5 or 6 years old are still being supported, so the software is only going to be as good as what the oldest device can handle.

I wonder how many people, like me, would be keen on an iPhone Mini Pro? I watched it all but but my SE 2016 looked at me and simply said 'fingerprint ID' and 'discrete'. Looks like our relationship will carry on for another year. The mix never seems to be quite right for me - I want the pro phone with 120Hz screen in a small form factor. It's not a lot to ask. ...... oh and fingerprint recognition.

Internet forums: ”Apple users are filthy casuals that only care about how devices look and not important things like specifications”

Same internet forums after this apple event: ”Booo! The apple watch and iphone looks the same as last year, the specification improvements don’t matter”

So, the iPad mini has Touch ID functionality and the iPhone mini still does not? The lineup still looks weird and please.. no more notch at all.
It makes no sense to me. I know this isn’t the case everywhere, but where I am legally we must wear a mask when out of the house. They will stop and fine you.

No idea how Apple can be so tone deaf… Just give us the choice of Touch ID in the power button on the phone — I just want a usable phone that I’m not constantly fumbling with the password because Face ID is useless here.

Hi, please anyone knows the name of the Weather/Flights app shown on the iPad screen at 0:55 please ???

My wife and I have iPhone X Pro Max phones and Series 6 watches. Looking forward to upgrading the iPhone after 3 years but truth is, I couldn't sell it to my wife that features X, Y and Z would really improve our lives, so it looks like I'm probably going to wait another year to upgrade. That's sad.

Makes me reflect on myself when the only thing I'm excited about when it comes to Apple is when they release a Mini phone with fingerprint sensor and a USBC port. I'm just not excited about this current lineup of announcements.
