All this Apple credit card talk really should scare everyone.
They weren't happy with just scamming you our of your money with over-inflated Apple-Taxed products.
Now they want to handle your money directly.
This is the stuff of 1970's dystopian stuff right here.

Oh..
In case you were going to make the "Apple cares about yer privacy n'stuff!" argument,
here you go.

Great video, good points.

I'm moving away from the idea having all my eggs in one basket. I won't be signing up for any of it. We all go on about Google getting our data, but then we give Apple everything knowingly. Lol.

why even make the keynote when almost nothing was ready yet. and very few countries get anything worthwile

Thanks MR for the 6 minute round up, so much better than watching the drawn out keynotes.

Nothing of interest though, apart from the Apple card, but it looks like that is USA only.

Look into a revolut card, basically the same thing but works for any currency and uses actual exchange rates. It's debit not credit though. Plus instant phone notifications for any transactions.

Everything in six minutes ?

I could do it in under one minute :).

A very underwhelming keynote.

If you leave out services that aren't available and don't have prices yet the entire keynote could have been sent out as a single tweet.

I think TV+ will be $9.99 though it should be cheaper considering there’s only new shows, no old ones are rolled in like with Netflix. Fairly it should be like $4.99, because it requires being supplemented by something like Hulu, or whatever other TV subscription service the customer uses and Apple will let them bring. At $9.99, it’s like saying BYOB, but we’re still charging you the same as the rest do. Which Apple might do.

I think Apple Arcade being $19.99 is fair, and accessible. $29.99 is also fair but pushing it, $19.99 is a good number. Gamers are more willing to pay for quality and the library will be large. So that’s a better figure to divide among developers, and enough residual cash incentive to evolve their games. I think $9.99 is too small of a pie to slice up, but would welcome it / be impressed if they did it. I wouldn’t be get it either way, I’m not a gamer. I don’t even have games on my phone, lol.

I don’t care what people say, that was one of the most fun and feature packed Apple events that I can recall in recent memory.

Hardware is important... and so is software... and so is content and services. It’s not just about what hardware you can buy but what you can do with it. Apple announced a ton of new ways to use your Apple devices.

The presentations were well done, they moved through everything at a good pace and that intro video alone got me giddy about Apple like I haven’t been since the Steve Jobs era.

Let's agree to disagree.

My guess is Apple is trying to diversify the portfolio of products - since unlike Microsoft, Apple is still "The iPhone" company. Problem is they are a few years late to the game.

Apple's Slogan for 2019 "Lets just do everything"
Their lineup is so confusing, no focus on core products, just doing anything to increase revenue and please investors. You can tell Apple is run by an accountant....

I wonder how many people will get the apple credit card to look good even if the rates are less competitive with others....

My feeling is that Apple is trying to juggle too many balls at the same time.
I always think of Steve when he returned to Apple, simplified the hardware line and focused on software big time. While I get we live in different times, I wish Apple could focus on what matters most and stop trying to jump all over the place.

Agreed, plus he had separate teams that would focus on their vertical product line. Can't believe Tim Cook merged the iOS and Mac OS teams together.

Apple are concerned about people going into debt that they struggle to pay. Their solution?

A credit card.
[doublepost=1553590435][/doublepost]Apple keynote addresses become ever more avoidable. The paid lackeys whooping whenever any announcement is made, the compulsory 'excitement', the assumed superiority of all Apple products (regardless of facts) and the shifting of priority to follow which ever market seems most profitable.

Steve Jobs inspired great products, Tim Cook inspires mediocre philosophy.

Apple used to promote creativity eg iWork, iWeb, iMovie, Garageband, etc. They mostly have these but its pushed aside in favour of focussing their energy on promoting passive consumption eg TV shows, movies, magazines, mainstream news sources, games, and an Apple Card to help pay for all them. I guess this brings in alot more money.

A **** day for Apple Fans in the U.K.

...totally agree.

Apple News Service: Its 2019 for gawds sake - nobody reads magazines anymore.....

Apple Streaming TV: Can't see how this would be any better/cheaper/have better content than all the hundreds of other existing streaming TV services we already have.

Apple Arcade: Come on, the current games in the iOS App Store are average at best - Apple will never cut in in the gaming market.....

Apple Credit Card: REALLY????! Millions of people are already in debt all around the world so lets entice everybody with a new credit card to further increase the world's debt problems.....

WORST. KEYNOTE. EVER.

Hmmmmm, I can see why people have been largely underwhelmed by this.

The streaming service is going to need to be something special to replace Netflix for me as I have no interest in paying for both, especially considering I have about 8 series I am currently in the middle of.

I like the credit card idea but being in the UK, it might never come here or could take years.

The magazines idea is an interesting concept but another subscription is something I just don't want.

£10 for Netflix
£15 for Spotify
£10 for Magazines
£10 for Apple TV Steaming.

If Apple could replace all this with a single cost including Apple Music, I would consider it. Its getting to the point where people pay more for subscriptions to content than they do for their food....I jest obviously but you see my point.

I don't want any more subscriptions. I use Spotify and Netflix daily and they are definitely worth the money for me, but I don't want 1000 subscriptions to different things. And yes, I know I don't have to get any of the ones Apple offers, but it just made the whole presentation very lackluster for me.

Stop it. Now!

You'll never earn any forum cred expressing views like that here.

Rather, you need to muster up an eye-roll worthy of a petulant San Fernando Valley teenage girl, and let everyone know how bored you are. And out-whine the post before yours on how you were soooo underwhelmed with this being the worst Apple keynote ever.

Also...don't forget the available bonus points for expressing how desperate and pathetic Apple is forcing yet another service subscription down the throats of their customers.
Incredible! Amazing! *Applause* *Applause* Wohoo!

I am an Apple fan big time
Still I could not see so much of interest for me in this keynote. As many other keynotes for from Apple last years.

But one thing I have to give Apple.

For me I am geting paranoid how much Google and Facebook track us and profile us. Even from third pard apps.
I find this scary as ****, I am getting paranoid in how Google, Facebook China are taking over the world.

So I need to honour Apple for making money on hardware and software and services.

Google created Android to track people and poke into peoples lives. Perhaps Google was an honest search engine in the beginning, then they found out if we profile people we can rule the world. Democracy is at high risk.

I am not happy how Apple has let us down the Mac side to favour IOS.

But I rather pay 30% extra for hardware than being sold out.

China is taking over the world - by starting to be a cheap factory for the rest go the world. Now they are buying foreign companies, they hack into other organisations to still research and such. They face-recognise people in china and if you have low scores you are in deep ****. Why should I buy a Huawei with Andriod even if the hardware and software seems great when it would be tor contribute the downfall of our world?

Thats why I stick to Apple. And will stick to Apple even if I am not happy how things are going.

Ps. I deleted facebook on my mobile and use DuckDuckGo. Even if it might be too late.

Tim Cook is crying about meeting Oprah and having her on board... he should be crying about the poorly design MacBook Pro and the lack of a true pro lineup for the Mac, or the iPhone roadmap... or confusing product matrix grid on the Mac or iPad... but I get it... Tech folks want to hang with celebs (it's a current disease with the elite tech circles)

Not really. Most of us are not looking for more ways to add subscriptions to our growing list. I'm looking to cut back, not add more!

For entertainment I have Sky, Netflix, Prime & Apple Music. I have about a dozen software related subscriptions & the last thing I need is yet another streaming service.

Apple would be wise to offer Apple Music & TV+ as a joint subscription - not separate.
