Am I the only person thinks this is Apple's distraction tactics hoping to salvage the iPhone 15 disaster?

Overheating, wireless charging malfunction, shutting down overnight... none of that is ever fixed by iOS 17.1 updates.... But suddenly no one is talking about it, so new buyers may think it doesnt exist..... I mean the 15 inch M2 just came out 3 freaking month ago... now they throw at you a 14inch M3 for the same price....

felt like the government giving you 5 bucks subsidy to tackle the declining birthrate.... do you think I'm that stupid....?
Silly trolls claiming "iPhone 15 disaster."

That said (post #69 above, where I like the M3), am I the only one that is perplexed by the memory configuration with the M3 Pro? Only a 4GB increase in maximum memory capacity?

Then, there is the odd memory specs for the M3 Pro where they have reduced the memory speeds from 200GB/s to just 150GB/s.

I wonder, is it possible that they have a glitch in the current M3 Pro that is forcing these odd choices? I guess the change in memory speed could be a cost-cutting effort, but why just 4GB of additional memory?

I was kind of hoping that we'd have 64GB on the M3 Pro so that I could get a new, M3 Pro Mac mini next year as my main desktop system. But, with only 36GB (apparently) I think I'll have to change my plans. But, that might not be a bad idea since a high-end Mac mini is about the same price as an entry-level Mac Studio and the Studio is a much more capable system.

$300 more expensive MacBook Pro max.
SO BUMMER
This means the M3 Max Mac Studio will also be $300 more expensive.

all for a lousy 15 percent performance boost.

Every year Apple gets worse.
I have been here since the beginning and IMO every year Apple gets better. But y'all are welcome to go back to something you prefer, even saving some money. Or just hop on over to Windoze...

Apple's "Scary Fast" 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time event was over in the blink of an eye, but if you missed it because of the unusual time, we have a quick overview of everything that Apple announced. If you want to watch the video in full, it only lasted a half an hour, because all Apple introduced was the new M3-series chips in MacBook Pro machines and iMacs.

We've recapped everything that you need to know in this super quick video you can watch before bed or catch in the morning, and we've also rounded up our coverage of the event.

MacBook Pro

iMac

Everything Else

The M3 iMac and MacBook Pro models can be ordered now, with the first orders set to ship out to customers next week. The M3 and M3 Pro machines will be available immediately, while M3 Max machines will ship out later in November.

Thank you Mac Rumors and Gurman. For the last five purchases on a Mac I have saved money. Yesterday bought a 15 M2 Air for $1600 new and 13 M2 Air for $899 as Best buy. Now the price is back to $1900 and $1299 as of tonight. Saved quite a bit. 😁

Boring year next year.

another lousy 15 percent performance boost out of M3 vs M2 Chips.

Software upgrades probably going to be just as boring moving forward.

I think the M3 is a good upgrade and it really needs to be compared to the M1 since the M2 could have been considered something of a stop gap until the M3 was ready. I couldn't see upgrading from an M1 to an M2, but I can see reasons to upgrade from an M1 to an M3 (the improved graphics being a major factor).

Plus, the people who are posting about sticking with their Intel Macs because they see no reason to upgrade to the M3 probably have no good reason to even be using a desktop or laptop computer. They'd probably be just as well off with a $40 desktop calculator and something like an iPad or even a calculator and an Apple TV. That's a bit harsh but probably no worse than inferring that the M3 isn't a worthwhile upgrade from an Intel Mac.

I guess the only reason to stick with Intel would be if you absolutely need 64GB or more of DRAM or something like one additional USB port (although for the latter USB-C hubs are cheap and can add a lot of functionality).
Is M3 Macs can boot in Windows natively? If I like macOS interface better, I have an iPhone and iPad, BUT I'm still a gamer, is the M3 macs enough? Sorry but my 2020 i7 iMac is still very fast for everyday tasks, and I still can play the most recent PC releases. So yeah, intel macs are obsolete, right? Personally, I just think intel Macs re better overall computer and it is in fact the real definition of a desktop computer : A machine that could do almost all stuff relatively good.

The trash about M3 iMacs is that Apple won't even let you chose between M3 or the M3 Pro/Max versions. Its clear now that Apple treats iMac like their new budget low end computers when int he past, the 27' iMac were in between the low end models and the pro ones. And I won't talk about missing connectivity ports as well...

Wait. If you want the 14” you can’t have Space Black, and if you want the 16” you can’t have Space Gray. Come again? Wow.

Ten dollars says this changes just as soon as Cook has sold all the 14” Space Gray chassis that he has hidden in a box under his bed.
