What this week?

Maybe we'll see 10.5.2 this week.

Maybe next week MBP.

Maybe the week after, the iPod/iPhone SDK and some other media-related stuff at a special media launch (Feb 26).

(Methinks Apple might like to use the Media Event as a stage to point to a major release of something significant every other week since the start of 2008 and try and break the record at being the first to do it.)

Maybe I'll get a 100% raise today...maybe.

You know, my tax refund is coming on Friday and I have an appointment at the Apple store with a concierge.

I don't know whether to cancel and wait or get what I want on Friday. I'll still be able to edit video on the MBP even with a 2.6 processor..

Do I need a magnetic latch? A mac air style keyboard or a multi touch touchpad? All and more that are rumored to be updated?

The MBP that is out now will still be a viable computer, correct?

sure..but you'll kick yourself in a few weeks. A possible penryn upgrade is significant...no?

Sarcasm, when properly applied and intelligently done is not childish, and can be classified at times as genius.

Agreed. Perhaps not being able to enjoy sarcasm is directly related to not having the ability to come up with sarcastic comments, which in turn creates a feeling of inadequacy, which in turn can spawn a Napoleon complex, that can cause someone to logicise that sarcasm is the humor of the stupid. Though, in a forum where we are called to be respectful, sarcasm's place is quite limited. In this case, sarcasm could make each of us appear unbecoming, and in a forum of many knowledgeable individuals, there is no good reason to appear that way..

Now back to the legendary Macbook Pros!:D

Yeah, I guess I would but I might not have the money left to get the MBP then. I guess we'll just have to wait until tomorrow to see what will be announced.

Maybe the "snobbish" way to say these statements would be to call it satire instead of sarcasm. Satire is definitely NOT childish.

Got caught up in the wait game...then quit

I waited for MWSF and there was no news on the new MBP so I pulled the trigger and got a 2.6 mhz 17 inch MBP. Not sure what the new ones will have besides a bit faster cpu and a new touch pad...which i rarely use...I'm a 2 buttoned mouse kind of guy. I have no regrets. The anxiety being expressed about the new MBPs in this forum is weird by any measure. If you need the extra horsepower, wait, otherwise, I'd be more excited about improvements in the OS. Relax, everyone. Take a deep breath and remember its a computer, not an extension of your Johnson (if you are male) and I'm willing to be that a 2.6 mhz is plenty 'Big" for 95% of you.

Calm......

Agreed. But for that 5%, of which I am a part of, we need that dual 2.8GHz processor and that 512 MB gfx card, and as many new features and ports as we can get with our cash for the rendering of high definition video and applying filters to 22MP Canon images in Photoshop extended.

We will wait, the current MBP just isn't a smart buy for us right now.

Just can't justify laying down the £££ on a machine that came out 8 months ago and is on the knife-edge of being updated.

While I'm sure it's a great machine I'd much rather hold out and plump for something that reflects the pricetag (which also has the potential to fall) a little better. I certainly wouldn't buy anything but a refurb this late in the 'cycle'... ymmv

No sarcasm here. Telling the truth. I would love to have a real desktop replacement to go along with my desktop for video editing. I don't shoot Canon, but I am sure there are some photogs out there that want to be able to edit through their shoot on the move, and not be bogged down by anything at all.

I'm hoping to buy the next bottom end model. It will probably have the specs of the current mid range model which is a $500 savings jsut to wait. its worth it to get the better graphics and bigger hard drive!
