oh you mean magic, as in the magically unergonomic magic mouse ?

If this OLED thing is indead a real thing, what would be good is if the dock could actually be displayed in it instead of having it either using permanent screen estate or having to auto-hide it...

I guess Apple should just give up on the "surprise and delight our customers" mantra.

They should just stick with "delight", since Tim's "double-down" on "security" is an abject failure. :p

Magic Inc. releases the new MagicBook Pro on October 27. Comes with Magic Toolbar and magicOS preinstalled. MagicPhone 8 is coming in 2017. MagicCar failed. MagicPod discontinued. MagicWatch will get a new set of magic Magic Bands including the magic Magic Band Magic Edition. After the presentation some clowns will perform on stage and show you some magic. Thanks for attending!

All with a new and

MAGIC PRICE POINT

As for the name , somebody in Taiwan or that area will have that name patented without ever using it , say in 2002 and they are already celebrating to get paid!

Next will be a class action suit, because constantly rubbing ones finger over that bar causes skin to flake off and thin the epidermis.
May also possibly erase/impact the fingerprint, so one can no longer open anything with touch id.

PS: Who actually needs a magic toolbar when we could do this all by asking SIRI, or maybe her twin sister Magic Siri?

"Siri, turn down the volume"

Siri: Switching to iTunes store, so you can download "Pump up the volume"

When Apple use the word 'magic', I feel like I'm 5 years old again. I know it's all marketing and buzzwords, but I can't help being super excited.

This new MacBook Pro is going to be insanely good.

I have been a Mac owner since 1991. I'm chomping at the bit to replace my Late 2013 15" MacBook Pro ASAP. Part of me hopes that Apple will release a new MBP that blows my model completely out of the water, but the other part knows the families of chips available currently. The machine WILL be faster and I hope I can run it with large monitors and NOT have the fans constantly running at full tilt to keep it cool. I also hope it may have at least 1 traditional USB 3.0 port.

What part of the Mac Pro isn't upgradable?

RAM? Check. CPU? Check. GPU? Check, albeit a proprietary interface.

How do I upgrade the GPU on my Mac Pro ??? It's not upgradable . There are no parts outside he D300, D500 and D700

An upgradeable desktop needs PCI slots. The key is PCI slots. The other major one is storage, 2013 Mac Pro has one slot...that not upgradable , that's one slot you max out, 2-4TB is nothing in a desktop

I own one, it's not upgradable :( .

Did you mean "slight" or "sleight"? ;)
Even though you're responding to someone else's post, I want to chime in and say kudos for pointing this out. I'm *never* offended when someone corrects my grammar. If I make a mistake, it is better for someone to point it out in a constructive manner than for me to perpetuate that mistake for the rest of my life.

Alright, I'm done.

I'm surprised they're not just using an iPad pro as the magic touchbar. Seeing how they like tying the ecosystem together.
Nice idea! Let's take it a bit further: Use the iPad Pro with 3d touch as a new keyboard. :) Well 3d touch has a long way to go to emulate the haptic feedback of a keyboard. :)

My first thought when I hear the word Magic, is usually of Disney, and not Apple. Am I the only one?

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
- Clarke's Third Law
I have always liked this quote. Alas, an OLED touch bar debuting in the year 2016 CE does not constitute a 'sufficiently advanced technology.' There are many Android smartphones with OLED touch screens, yet in my humble opinion, they aren't 'magical.'

No physical Esc key? Will make using 'vi' editor extremely unpleasant. I think I'll pass.
That was the first thing I noticed about the mock-up, but as far as I know, it is only a mock-up.
I'm already in the "why am I supposed to look at my keyboard" camp, and this makes me even less excited.

Lessee... an iPad Pro costs what, $600 to $1130, depending on model/memory. A MacBook Pro runs from $1300 to $3200, depending. So someone who might want to use the Apple Pencil wouldn't buy an iPad Pro because the MacBook Pro trackpad also supports the Pencil.

This makes about as much sense as the (Apple marketing team) argument that Apple// hardware emulation built into the Apple/// absolutely had to be crippled or it would kill Apple// sales. When the Apple// cost about $1200, and the Apple/// started around $3000 (about $8,800.00 equivalent today). It was stupid on stilts back then, it's not much better now.

And that's ignoring the difference in working surface area between an iPad Pro and the trackpad on a MacBook Pro.

A person wanting to use the Pencil is 'forced' to buy an iPad. It's a simple as that. Apple wants you to buy both.

And, if you're bringing up relics like the Apple //, you should be aware of Apple's design ethos. Letting each product do what it does best. You alluded to it yourself pointing the working surface advantage of an iPad.

I use the top/function row by touch. I wonder how losing that tactile button will affect that...I'll keep an open mind, but I have a feeling I'll lose some precision and productivity. :(

just wonder how long after release before we get complaints of magic toolbar image retention/yellow tints/uneven colors and "I'm on my fifth one, should I keep it" threads

give it 6 months and it'll be old hat when they update it to a retina MagicToolbar anyway..
