I got mine ordered this morning @8:01 EST. The simple reason was that I was on Verizon's annual upgrade program. This has eliminated all my headaches of Craigslist, eBay, etc.

I look forward to all the screen improvements, faster processor, camera. This time I went gold to match my Apple Watch 4. If it wasn't as easy as just tossing this old in the return box, I probably would have skipped it.

I don't mind the dollar/day fee of always having the latest model, covered by warranty.

well, you're basically losing the residual value as a percentage of what you've already paid that the item would have after 2 years if you trade in early. so if you've paid 50% on the device and the residual value after 2 years is 500 bucks, then you're losing out on $250... but never having to deal with bad batteries, private market resale or crappy trade in values and always have the new shiny. the trade off is worth it for many.

You most certainly do not own it. The loan is for 2 years. It is a choice to trade after a year. Either way we're paying for another year to 'own' it.

I pay $60.33/month for an XS Max (crazy, I know). That's $723.66 after 12 months. I do not 'own' it this year.

"Own" as in, loosely, "have." I agree, the IUP is more like the subsidized rental arrangements that Detroit used to offer car buyers, which turned out to be about as beneficial for financial health as crack is for physical health.

And worse again for the planet's health.

Pretty sure IUP'ers and SUP'ers are all climate change deniers.

And you know this how, and that knowledge entitles you to make rude and insulting comments? Or do you walk to work, grow your own food and exhale less than strictly necessary?

No the entitlement works the other way. People who upgrade phones yearly in the knowledge of the ridiculous carbon footprint they're causing feel they're entitled to do so.

You can see it in the threads. 'I'm upgrading because I can'.

In other words, 'I got credit, haha I'm going to screw the planet with it'.

So only three worthwhile conclusions can be drawn. Either they deny climate change, don't care about climate change, or they're actually ignorant about what's happening around them. So yes you're right I was rude - it was rude of me not to point out that IUP'ers and SUP'ers might also be ignorant or entitled children.

Thanks for the correction.

I am a gadget geek, always have been. I don't think I have ever had a phone more than a year. Had they not increased that battery life as dramatically as they did, I would had stayed with my XsMax, but 5 more hours was a big deal. It also gave me incentive to finally enter the upgrade program.

I noticed on comparing the XS Max and Pro Max, for audio, the XS Max shows "wider stereo playback". The Pro Max has "spatial audio playback, and supports dolby atmos". So the audio should be improved.

I am very curious as to what they mean by the phones having dolby vision and atmos capabilities . The only thing I can think of is that the software supports play back on devices that support those features if being streamed from the new iPhone. I don't see how the small speakers on the device could use those features or even simulate them .

Cameras
Battery life
Audio
Charger
Screen
I pay the same amount under IUP with only a 6% sales tax charge
So new for less than $60, I’m in.

The battery life. I use my iPhone for business and I sometimes forget to charge it at night, haha, so hopefully the battery is as great as they noted. Also, I've always dreamed of a viridescent-to-black finish of an (not those awful pastel-colours) iPhone.

Man 5h more on the Max is quite a game changer from me coming over from the XS.. Where battery life simply ain't good enough.

So if you already own a iPhone XsMax why are you getting a or why do you want a 11 Pro Max ?
Are the cameras on the XsMax just horrible and unacceptable?
Or why please share your thoughts I genuinely want to know.

I have the XS Max and ordered a 11 Pro Max.
I have the option to upgrade every year so why not.

There is nothing on the 11 Pro Max that I feel I need to have but it’s always nice to have a new device.

My XS Max is still good to go got it at launch last year no complaints at all.

Do you ever fly? Have you ever bought a new car? Do you live in a single-family detached home? Do you ever eat meat? If you answered yes to any of the above, congratulations, you’re probably in the higher percentile of carbon producers and thus a hypocrite.

But blaming individual consumers (who are just cogs in the giant capitalist machine) is dumb anyway. The vast majority of carbon output comes from industry and corporations. Don’t ask people to make their already difficult lives harder by guilt tripping them for things they can’t stop. Individual consumers can’t stop climate change. Governments need to intervene with carbon taxes and industry regulation. That’s the only (and I mean only) way.

Agree, it's much better to wait for gift card promo, like Sam's club $200 gift card promo deal. I pay off the phone immediately after the return period expires and am eligible for another phone right away.

Better battery...better camera...plus on IUP.
