Last nights episode was way too much of " hey we love the patriots and tom brady, lets write a script so we can drag him in here for a week doing a voiceover and hang out with him because we love him so much"

Yeah, that's a good way to put it. ;) It just seemed a bit more artificial and "forced" than previous episodes, like they were almost trying too hard.

Nonetheless, still funny in general, (after all, not every epsiode is going to be a 10!) and one of my favorite shows of all time.

Anyone else notice that Simpsons did a really long sequence with Flanders singing? Family Guy influence maybe? Pretty funny considering just a few weeks ago they were making fun of Peter being so similar to Homer and American Dad being like a rip off of FG. Just thought it was funny.

The Simpsons/Family Guy plagiarism issue has been well-debated. The Family Guy Wikipedia page has more on it.

Last night's episode was worth it just for "Diego, sweaty."

my favorite part was when the whole stadium broke into a stunning rendition of Shipoopi from the music man, sheer brilliance. Most people probably didn't even know it was a real song...Shipoopi  . <3 Silly Nannies :)

Well it IS supposed to be in Rhode Island, and you're not allowed to be a Rhodylanduh if you don't like the Pats. They'll kick your ass out into Cunn-neck-ti-cut.

I know I know, seth macfarlane is from the area ... I guarantee he's a pats fan ... as I was saying ... he took his opportunity to hang out with his favorite sports star ( I don't blame him ... I'd figure out how to incorporate urlacher into one of my episodes or perhaps Mark Prior) ... the episode was alright (better than your average show anywhere else) and I highlighted what I liked ... but it wasn't as well rounded as we've seen them.

shipoopi

I laughed so hard at two parts:

1) Peters tv commercial:

At Wilkins Hyundai and Subaru, We have Hyundais and Subarus

2) Brians "revenge" on Stewie - he slammed him into a bus! HAAHA!!!

Hey hey hey, spell it right!
"Ro' dylin'duh"

You need one of these

I loved how well they drew (Call Me) Gillette (instead) Stadium, the last scene, both Madden and the guys at the trough dancing. And Peter's bathroom scene reminded me of this.

Wow...tonight might have been the most unfunny episode of Family Guy I've ever seen. WTF happened??
i didnt think it was that bad, but i was underwhelmed to say the least. WTF was the deal with that space coaster thing, i didn't get taht reference at all...

Haven't watched it yet, but will be d/ling it soon. ;) I'll set my expectations low based on this feedback and let you know what I think afterwards. I guess they can't all be stupendously funny - perhaps we're just a little spoiled since the show is so damn good. ;)

As usual Stewie has the best one liners, I found that new show Free Ride to be amusing.

Probably to young (or too old) to remember. The Great Space Coaster. I can't believe I actually remember this show. I love that shows like these have references to stuff like that. Robot Chicken (created by Seth Green) does that too. Missed the last part of the show because my Sister called. She was Tivo'ing it, so she forgot it was on. S'alright, apparently I didn't miss much and I'll just catch it in reruns. I can't believe they referenced such and obscure show.

No g-news is good g-news unless its gary gnu's. Classic.

the Malcolm in the middle bit was pretty damn funny

other than that.... meh

ohhhhhhh the and disney cartoon spinoff with the magic carpet being shoot at in Baghdad made me laugh

Anyone get the "Better Off Dead" reference when they were "Maid Racing"?? That whole scene with the Asian announcers was a parody of a scene in that movie where the main character played by John Cusack was constantly being challenged to a race by two Asian brothers that learned to speak English by watching the late Howard Cosell. A very, very funny scene in the movie, which by the way is extremely funny and contains a great claymation video for the Van Halen classic "Everybody Wants Some!!".

Yeah, I remember that show as well. It took my a few years to get that damn song out of my head in 1987 and now it's stuck in there again.

Sure did. There were a lot of little things like that in this episode. A lot more references to my generation (teen of the 80s) than those a younger audience might get. I laughed my ass off at this episode.

I want my 2 dollars!

Cool. Glad I'm not the only one on this thread that was a teenager in 1985. For those of you who haven't seen it, "Better Off Dead" is one of the best movies of the era and some hysterical quotes....

"Sorry your Mom blew up, Ricky".

That was a funny episode, kinda out of nowhere though - I didn't know there would be a new episode, little to no advertising. Hmm.

Newer podcast will be up soon....

Itunes link

Our new Family Guy podcast for the recent I TAKE THEE QUAGMIRE goes up by Thurs. If you enjoy additional COMMENTARY on the show (tidbits and a little more insight), please give it a listen. BTW, I think it helps if one grew up with the space coaster and better of dead references...They were really funny, although if you didn't grow up exposed to it I could see why the show seemed flat.....
