Do you mean the Bier Markt (or however you spell it) at the Esplanade, as mentioned by Surely? I've been there, but it was just an expensive bar with bad food. The beer selection was great, and they know it, which is why they can overcharge and yet people still flock there. Very nice beer selection though. :)

If you're referring to the Distillery District east of Yonge St. (and a bit east of St. Lawrence Market), I've been there as well. It's where the Mill St. brewery is. It's also the artsy, and VERY nice part of town. :) There are other places that brew their own beer in that area, but they are smaller scale than Mill St.

Steamwhistle is near the CN Tower, and of course, I've been there too. :p

yes that be the one! Yeah- i don't remember what i ate or if was any good but i had this elephant beer in a little snifter which was just amazing. Distillery District always makes for a sloppy night.

I won't spam everyone with pics, so here goes:

I'm a big fan of stouts and porters. Guinness will always be a good standby, but I only like it on draft. I don't care for the draught bottles/cans. It sounds like blasphemy, but I actually like a couple of other brands better. I really like Murphy's Irish Stout. North Coast Brewing has one called old no. 38 Stout that I like. There is also a local brewery called Lazy Magnolia that has a great stout called Jefferson Stout.

Let's see..others I like: Most stuff I have tried from New Belgium, especially Fat Tire. It's a good all around beer. It really sucks that I can't get it in this state. I also like Newcastle, but I hate those clear bottles, since it causes too much skunking. Harp and Bass are two good all-around brews. I have also liked most stuff from Sam Adams, except for the fruit beers.

Manlaw: DON'T FRUIT THE BEER! :)

New Belgium 2 below:)

I went to a "Taste Of ..." type of street fair a few years ago where all the restaurants let you try their food and drinks and all and in the beer garden there was New Belgium, I used to drink Fat Tire and thought I'd stop by and they had a few "unreleased" beers and they gave me a case mixed with a bunch of either soon to be released or "concept" beers and they are quite the innovators. I hope a couple of the other ones I tried them come out eventually.

Newcastle
Shiner Bock
Breckenridge Avalanche
Dos Equis Amber
Dos Equis Lager
Live Oak Hefe
Smithwicks

DOH! How can I forget Shiner? I like the Bock, and the Black Lager. The Shiner 100 is also damn good. I hope they make it a permanent addition. I liked the Breckenridge Oatmeal Stout and Vanilla Porter.

I also have to give a shout out to my (only) homestate brewery, Lazy Magnolia. The Southern Pecan and Jefferson Stout are my favorites. Check 'em out: http://www.lazymagnolia.com/index.php

I like most of the shiner beers too...maybe cause they're Texas beers and also come at a reasonable price.

There are a ton of other great Texas beers too.

Manlaw: DON'T FRUIT THE BEER! :)

Oh man, in that case I gladly break that manlaw every time I have a hefe.

My favorites:

Labatt Blue
Molson Canadian
Samuel Adams (Boston Lager, Summer Ale, Honey Porter)

Although, recently I've been enjoying single-malt scotch more than anything.

Always drank this when I was in Germany.

This is only worth buying over in there as in the States it doesn't taste that good.
And then the real Heineken in The Netherlands. The real stuff has a hollow star and not red.

Finally, good ole:

At Christmas -

Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout and a piece of lightly burnt Christmas cake.

Used to get the Christmas offering from Anchor, haven't seen it for a while - is it still available in the UK?

Cheers,
OW

I hardly ever drink, maybe like 2-3 times a year. Beer generally isn't my drink of choice either; that being said if "in the mood" I'm pretty partial to Leinenkugel's. Little surprised that not many people have heard of it, it's pretty good stuff! :)

I like this thread. :) Getting very jealous (and thirsty) over the beers that are available to some of you.

My favourites are Fullers ESB, Sierra Nevada IPA (Nicer than the Pale Ale, although much harder to get here), Rogue 'Dead Guy' Ale, Anchor Steam and Gordon Biersch (no idea if I've spelled that right) Blonde Bock.

I'm not a Guinness drinker, so if I have to throw an Irish one on here I'll say either Brain Blasta (Nice strong Pale Ale from the Porterhouse) or O'Hara's Red.

I'd love to get my hands on a bottle of Dogfish Head IPA or Arrogant B@stard Ale. If anyone's willing to send me a bottle of either, I'm sure I can return the favour with something local... :)
