I can't I forgot about Rogue Dead Guy. Great stuff. I also like their Shakespeare Stout and Mocha Porter. I also forgot about the Old Rasputin. I just had my first sample of that recently. I'm having some Sierra Nevada Porter right now, and I have one Old Rasputin left in the fridge.

My "go too" beer, although usually on tap:

Ahhh. Arogant Bastard. You need to sit down when you drink that baby.

Oh good - Thanks yg17 for the Boulevard pic, gotta love the hometown (KC) beer :D

Boulevard Pale Ale
Boulevard Stout (only on tap)
New Belgium 1554

And Youngs Double Chocolate Stout in a good beer float. ;)

PS - Excellent post to put me over the newbie post count, I need a beer now that I am a "macrumors member"

I like this thread. :) Getting very jealous (and thirsty) over the beers that are available to some of you.

I'd love to get my hands on a bottle of Dogfish Head IPA or Arrogant B@stard Ale. If anyone's willing to send me a bottle of either, I'm sure I can return the favour with something local... :)

Why not? PM me and I'm sure we could work something out. We have a store called BEVmo out here and I can get whatever I want.

You can say that again.

Anybody know a good online outlet to import beers?

Hey,

Any hefe lovers see that Pyramid strayed from their standard "Pyramid Hefe" and now seems to only be selling "Haywire Hef"?

It seems just as good either way.

Arrogant Bastard... One of my favorite all time beers. I love that beer and I love that brewery.

I also really like their Pale Ale... Mmmm tasty.

Old Rasputian.. Great Stout. You might want to try Dark Lord Imperial Stout also. Oh man is it good!

Can't forget the Dragons Milk Stout.....

My go-to cheap beers that I usually have on hand are LaBatt or Killian's, but if it's a special occasion I go for Boddington's, Black & Tan, Blue Moon, Leinenkugel's, or any number of local brews, depending on where I am.

I hope to discover some new beers on my adventure to Germany. At this time I am a big fan of the following:

Heineken
Shiner Bock
Fat Tire
Shiner Hefeweizen
Shiner Bohemian Black Lager

Being in Texas Shiner is about the only craft beer that is readily available. Heineken is a really smooth beer and great for any occasion. I have only at Fat Tire twice and that was my last two times in Colorado. Umm, wonder what the laws are about getting a friend in Colorado to send Fat Tire to Texas.

As long as it's shipped by ground it's fine. TSA doesn't get too stoked about liquids being shipped by air. There are ways around that though :D

I've been thinking about it......and I've decided....... that this beer thread is my favorite beer thread.

Oh, and I'm sitting on my balcony sipping an Erdinger. It's a warm night here!

Shiner Bock
Spaten Optimator
Hoegaarden
Pipeline Coffee Porter
Real Ale Coffee Porter
Guinness Extra Stout
Rogue Old Crustacean Barleywine
Deschutes Black Butte Porter
Strongbow
Rochefort 10
Westvleteren 12
Maredsous
Chimay
Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse
Lindeman's Framboise
Gulden Draak

This is only some of the beer that I can remember. Usually, I like to try different Belgian and German beers, most of which have been very good. So, there's plenty of other beers that I've tried that I haven't listed.
Which beer I drink depends on the situation and sometimes the time of year. Right now, I'm more likely to drink hefeweizens than porters (even though I like darker beers more).
Also, the coffee porters are seasonal, so I only get to drink that during the winter. :(
When it comes to my staple, standby beer, that's Shiner Bock. Texas is one of the crappiest states in the Union, but it (somewhat) redeems itself with Shiner. :)

There are a couple of others in Texas. There is a brewery called Rahr in Ft. Worth that has a couple of decent brews. There was another that I had while visiting my brother in Arlington, but I can't remember the name. What part of Texas are you in? I was able to get Fat Tire in several places in the DFW area, as well as San Antonio when I was out there a couple of months ago.

Anyway, you (along with other beer fans) may want to check out the Beer of the Month club. I would, but it's illegal to ship alcohol into this #@#$#@#!! state.

Too many to make a good list, but some that come to mind:

Stone Ruination IPA
Stone Smoked Porter
Paulaner Salvator
Bear Republic Red Rocket Ale
Weihenstephaner Korbinian
Anchor Porter
Firestone Walker Double Barrel Ale
Marin IPA
Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout

Just poured myself my own brew - based off Hoegaarden. Brewed it about 2 months ago - I call it Cirrus.

Almost every little town in Germany will have its own beer. It will be an adventure for your taste buds.
Also, try the native Heineken. Much different and better than here.

Awesome thread.

Can't forget the Dragons Milk Stout.....

I love New Holland brewery. Michigan makes some outstanding beers. I only had this one once, but it's one of the most memorable beers that I ever tasted:

Unfortunately, it's not for sale on the east coast. In the DC area, I find that there's nothing that tops Dogfish Head. My go-to is the 90minute IPA, but the Indian Brown Ale and Raison D'etre are also really outstanding, drinkable beers that are not quite like anything else out there:

DFH also has some really esoteric, high-ABV beers. I think I've tried almost all of them, but there's a new one called Sahtea that is brewed with some tea leaves. Still haven't found that one anywhere, yet.

My favorite beer as of now, but it might have something to do with the situation. I had just flown about six hours from Perth, it was too damn hot (January) and that beer just tasted so damn good then and there.

Heineken is Dutch. I think EU Heineken is all the same.

But yeah, maestro's going to Bavaria. If he hasn't had at least 10-15 different GOOD local beers by the time he's left, he really wasn't trying hard enough. :)
