Zombies= Nature's course correction.
Kids on the beach scared me.
If they (who?) were following the Abigal, I assume with radar, I don't see why by pulling up to an island, that they would lose their pursuers.

I wondered that too. However, just because the pursuers disappeared from Strand's radar, doesn't mean they left the area altogether. They might have gone further out into open sea to await their presumed shoving off again.

We could also look at it, that the followers may not have radar at all and could be pursuing by sight. That might explain why they could have hid in the area they did.

Or they could have a radar system that doesn't have a very long range and they could have lost them. But I have a feeling we are going to see them in the up coming episodes so we will know soon enough!!!!

They should have pulled out their binocular and looked behind them. :) Further puzzling is that Strand stated the other boat was faster. I guess it's time to just let it go and move on. ;)

Kind of a boring episode this week. At the end where they have to tow them in their raft because Strand won't them aboard, was kind of messed up and even more messed up when he cuts their tow line!

I had and still do a feeling that Charlie (girl form the plane) that she'll be a major part of the show. Of course, I'm just getting started on The Talking Dead and will see what Michelle Ang has to say about it.

I thought it was a great episode. The false sense of security/normalcy is what led to the relative slow pace.

That seems to change dramatically in next week's episode. The title says it all "Blood in the Streeets". From the preview Nick is missing and in the extended preview we see him swimming to land and encountering helicopters and lots of activity. Someone has Chris at gunpoint too.

Watching/listening to Chris Jericho on Talking Dead was awesome! So funny!

When he was first on after "The Walking Dead" he was one of the most requested people they wanted to see back on the show. I haven't watched this weeks but from the sound of it, it sounds like he was really good again!

I actually liked this weeks episode. That is pretty messed up with they did the lady in the raft. I too have a feeling she is going to play a "larger" part in this show. I am beginning to have serious questions about our boat captain.

Since you mention it, I have a feeling Strand won't be long for the show unless he learns to compromise just a little bit. Even Rick compromises on occasion when pressured enough. The group may not tolerate Strand's hard line stance for too much longer and either eliminate him, or part ways.

I have a feeling that Strand's position of power will be threatened once Abigail ceases to be viable.

Right. It will be interesting to see what transpires between him and the group when they arrive at Strands mysterious rendezvous.

They would theoretically look like a part of the island to the radar (i.e. the island would mask them).

They were out of visual range.

The other boat was only 6 MPH (5 kts) faster then their boat. It looks like the typical (non military) range (depending on target composition, the height of the radar, the power of the radar, and the height/size of the target) of a boat mounted radar could be pretty far. It would have been hours before the other boat could be within visual range.

The general range formula.

Gah! I didn't get a notification about this thread as I normally would.

I must say I've enjoyed Stand's hard line stance with regards to letting others on the Abigail or even helping. It's the beginning of the Zombie apocalypse and there's too much unknown unlike in TWD, where things have settled down and people are recolonizing. Still, you have to believe the concept of reaping what you sow or everything going full circle will probably come back to haunt Strand sooner or later...

Really hope Strand cutting the rope for the raft isn't the end of those two...seemed too easy to cut that story arc so swiftly.

Fear is shaping up to be very interesting. I enjoyed the episode with the exception of Chris walking off on his own and potentially getting himself into trouble. I get it that he's the impulsive angry teenager of the show, but I just find that kind of stuff unrealistic at times. Like others have said I hope we haven't seen the last of our airplane survivors.

Yea, but they just drove up to the island and parked or it looked that way. If the boat following them, did not find them, instead I guess it choose to head in another direction instead of going to the island.

The show is really exploring survival morality. Chris and the wounded passenger, the two in the raft. In the book Lucifer's Hammer, a town surrounded itself with a wall and you were only invited in if you had something to offer. A hungery mouth by itself was a disqualifier. In a survival situation, charity when it threatens your own survival will be dependent upon personal standards.

Are you willing to put yourself out on a limb to help someone in need? Strand agreed to help the initial group who helped him, but he has reached his limit n numbers. I'd argue that to truly help the couple in the raft, , it would have involved towing them to land and if the military is killing everyone they find, this could easily be considered an unacceptable risk. But I also understand the kids view, that the moral thing would be to take them (the 2 in the raft) on the boat.

They had the choice of a few islands that were near each other. Looking at the radar, the other ship went past them while they were hiding at the island. That's why they had to leave when the other ship was off their radar because, the other ship would most likely double back when it realized that it had lost them.

Strand always has a plan. Looks like there really has been reason for no extra persons aboard. Glad there was light shed on Strand's backstory and Thomas Abigail. Maybe everyone will trust him now..

Finally Jack and company under the direction of Conner show up. Alicia (due to Jack's admiration) and Travis (electrician) seem to be of high value. I wish the action unfolded a little earlier than the last 5min.

Good episode overall.

Thank You FTWD for showing us why you trust no strangers in a post apocalyptic world. :D

It has taken them a while but hopefully this one sinks in! Was kinda shocked at our Captains back story and then listening to him on Talking Dead. He is a very interesting person both his character and him in general.
It's interesting/sad how quickly the civilized world turns to that.

For the sake of argument, this is who the human species is just under the surface when survival is at stake, much of being civilized is just a thin veneer a luxury, that will be discared if it can no longer be perceived to be afforded.

Right, unfortunately that's the case. And unfortunately it likely wouldn't even take something as bad as a zombie epidemic to get to that level, as likely a fairly prolonged loss of electricity and/or water would lead to noticeable instances of something along that path.
