I thought the season opener was pretty darn good too with the apocalyptic burning of L.A. in the distance being viewed from off shore.
Who knew zombies could swim? haha
Land of the DeadI forget which "Night of the Living Dead" movie it was, but they had the zombies that would go through the water. Basically walk on the bottom or swim (didn't really show how they did it) but yup they were able to get across the water.
Time jump? The entire first episode takes place hours after the end of the first season?!?

?!?
The tortured soldier told them that operation Cobalt would start at 9 am the next day. Final evacuation and extermination of anyone left behind.
They went to the hospital and high tailed it out of there to get to Strand's house sometime (early?) the next day. (Presumably the evacuation was ongoing at the same time).
The military operations were having the effect of pushing the walkers to the coast where they ran into our motley crew at the beach.
At the end of that same day the firebombing was taking place as they were making their way to the boat.
Hours at most.

They knew there was an infection, but that's about it, I think.
Jenner revealed the most important piece of this particular apocalypse.
We are all infected. No matter how we die, we will come back. The bites are just a secondary infection that can accelerate death.
He also showed the group the FMRI studies on TS-19 (his wife) who died and came back and also revealed that trauma to the brain shut it off.
He also mentioned that the French had come the closest to finding a cure, but that communication had been lost.

Cure as in let the dead rest in peace?
That shows how difficult I found it to care about this show...I'm really trying to but I don't think I'll stick around much longer.
WAIT-A-MINUTE, what animates dead tissue? How can a dead brain drive the dead tissue to find food? Why would sticking a knife in dead tissue make a difference, even the brain? And zombies don't seem to need food to keep going, yet they crave it so. You'd think someone, like the CDC (featured in TWD) would be studying the animation mechanism.

Don't feel bad. I'm watching this show (I like it) and I stopped watching the original Walking Dead show for the same reason that you don't care for this show. Everyone has different opinions.

I think the best (book) series as far as explanations is John Ringo's Black Tide Rising Series. I recommend it.
What is the mechanism there?
A man made combination of viruses that was designed to cause a zombie apocalypse. The first virus was air born (super flu like) to spread everywhere. If that virus didn't kill you, there was a chance that you would catch the follow on virus (from the original) which acted as rabies and did irreversible brain damage (Note - The zombies were not dead but were more like vicious animals). The second virus was a blood pathogen (spread through bites) from the people who were infected.
If you like reading, it's a good action series.
Similar to 28 Days Later. The infected in that movie were FAST not slow shambling things.
Looks like season 3 is already a "go": http://deadline.com/2016/04/fear-th...d-third-season-robert-kirkman-amc-1201738374/
Yeah, even this (2nd) season there are 15 I believe, compared to only about 6 (IIRC) for the first one (which I almost think was more of a trial to see if the public would be interested in that kind of storyline). At least there are more than 10 episodes (16) which for the likes of cable TV series shortchange the viewer in some cases, IMO.
