I thought the season opener was pretty darn good too with the apocalyptic burning of L.A. in the distance being viewed from off shore.

Who knew zombies could swim? haha

Seeing the city up in flames was outstanding! One of the best panoramic shots of either series.

I forget which "Night of the Living Dead" movie it was, but they had the zombies that would go through the water. Basically walk on the bottom or swim (didn't really show how they did it) but yup they were able to get across the water.

The scene when a walker had on a life preserver in the bullet riddled boat, just peacefully snarling was a nice touch...but would that mean instead of "walkers" they should be called "floaters"? o_O

Also, I'm not scientist, but there were some floaters without life preservers that were afloat...now I'm no expert on drowning, but would this indicate they were recently killed? Does air stay in the lungs/body for a short time after death? How long before they would actually sink?

I must be in the minority here I'm giving this show a chance but I'm finding it really hard to care about any of these characters. Heck I even fell asleep during the season one premier. I found the webisodes to be more interesting. Was the time jump that season two introduced really necessary?

Last time we see the gang at Strand's compound it's a normal sunny L.A. day....minus the dead walking...then season two opens up and there's fires all around..L.A. is being bombed...and there's zombies all on Strand's compound as well as on the beach. I'm sorry but it feels like something missing between the sunny day and the bombings.

Can't be too much of a time jump. Mom is not a rotting corpse, and I'm pretty sure her death was right after they got there.

?!?

The tortured soldier told them that operation Cobalt would start at 9 am the next day. Final evacuation and extermination of anyone left behind.

They went to the hospital and high tailed it out of there to get to Strand's house sometime (early?) the next day. (Presumably the evacuation was ongoing at the same time).

The military operations were having the effect of pushing the walkers to the coast where they ran into our motley crew at the beach.

At the end of that same day the firebombing was taking place as they were making their way to the boat.

Hours at most.

They knew there was an infection, but that's about it, I think.

Time jump? The entire first episode takes place hours after the end of the first season?!?

I liked the jump.

Wipe out all humans in the area... just to be sure, apparently.

Jenner revealed the most important piece of this particular apocalypse.

We are all infected. No matter how we die, we will come back. The bites are just a secondary infection that can accelerate death.

He also showed the group the FMRI studies on TS-19 (his wife) who died and came back and also revealed that trauma to the brain shut it off.

He also mentioned that the French had come the closest to finding a cure, but that communication had been lost.

Cure as in let the dead rest in peace?

What's all this "WE" business?! o_O Haha

Cure as in let the dead rest in peace?

I think a cure to stop anyone living from turning upon death...to keep that virus trait dormant perhaps? Once a walker, there'd be no point in being brought back to life.

That shows how difficult I found it to care about this show...I'm really trying to but I don't think I'll stick around much longer.

Don't feel bad. I'm watching this show (I like it) and I stopped watching the original Walking Dead show for the same reasons that you don't care for this show. Everyone has different opinions.

WAIT-A-MINUTE, what animates dead tissue? How can a dead brain drive the dead tissue to find food? Why would sticking a knife in dead tissue make a difference, even the brain? And zombies don't seem to need food to keep going, yet they crave it so. You'd think someone, like the CDC (featured in TWD) would be studying the animation mechanism.

I think the best (book) series as far as explanations is John Ringo's Black Tide Rising Series. I recommend it.

Yeah it's a personal thing. I stopped watching The Expanse for that reason, but the book is much better from a character stand point, the same characters! For FTWD, as compared to TWD, the collection of characters I find to be weak (as far as appealing). I'm not really vested in any character, but I find Strand, the old man, the situation, and location to be interesting. As time goes by, I've found that some characters will grow on me. I did not care for Carol or the Preacher in TWD, but as their characters have evolved, I grew to like them. It's a combination of the character and the person playing the character which makes them appealing or not.

What is the mechanism there?

A man made combination of viruses that was designed to cause a zombie apocalypse. The first virus was air born (super flu like) to spread everywhere. If that virus didn't kill you, there was a chance that you would catch the follow on virus (from the original) which acted as rabies and did irreversible brain damage (Note - The zombies were not dead but were more like vicious animals). The second virus was a blood pathogen (spread through bites) from the people who were infected.

If you like reading, it's a good action series.

Similar to 28 Days Later. The infected in that movie were FAST not slow shambling things.

Classic bait and switch as far as "Jack" goes, however we probably will still run into this person(s) soon.

Willa moved REALLY fast after reanimation. I don't even recall Sophia moving that fast.

Looks like Strand's motives have been exposed, but that almost also says the exact same about Daniel.

Sounds like Strand has a hot date in Mexico!

Loved that next week's episode will bridge the gap of Flight 462!

At least there are more than 10 episodes (16) which for the likes of cable TV series shortchange the viewer in some cases, IMO.
Yeah, even this (2nd) season there are 15 I believe, compared to only about 6 (IIRC) for the first one (which I almost think was more of a trial to see if the public would be interested in that kind of storyline).

That was a trial to see if the series would go or not.
