reminds me of when another group of people got a clue a about how the new world worked, enforced by none other than the.....n.W.o:eek:

Pretty good episode this week. Maddy was pretty wise and effective to use Reed as a weapon to secure Travis. Plus that was an awesome headbutt by Travis too in that fight. Chris whacking Reed was probably partly his way for redeeming himself for letting them on the boat and partly because his emotional state isn't the best and Reed's constant trolling probably got to him.

Even in the midst of the mid season finale approaching, I must say, in my opinion that was the best episode so far. For once it felt like they weren't dragging along the plot or forcing things in the episode and the flow was cohesive. Mix that with Strand's plan coming to fruition and getting off of the Abigial, introduction of poisonous new characters (see what I did there), and dysfunction within the core group, this episode was a great recipe to lead up to the mid season finale next week.

Uggh, I hate these mid-season breaks. Networks never used to do that back in the day.

Anyhow, I'm wondering if Chris is going to be a long term character if his freezing, or ulterior motives don't change.

Maddy needs to realize her kids aren't little kids anymore. I think she's trying to hold on too tight to them, though she does have a good instinct for what's in their best interest.

I think Strand may know what Celia is up to and that's why he shot his friend in the head - something that she doesn't like considering how she knows that Luis, her other son, didn't get, assuming that he's still alive.

This episode is the first one to really get me to think "I can't wait for next week." I always found Chris' character kind of annoying/boring. Now things are getting interesting! I want to see how Travis responds to the news.
[doublepost=1463436098][/doublepost]And I was afraid that Strand was going to die. His character is one of my favorites.

I noticed Celia told Daniel when he said "sorry for your loss" something about "as long as he was not shot in the head". Hmm... They are not dead, they are what comes next. What I don't get is why would she poison everyone in her church? To spare them, transistion them, as they are what comes next. Sicko.

I enjoyed their time on the boat. I'm not sure if I'm happy they are back on land or not.

I got the impression that she believes this is the next stage of life.

At first I understood because I thought she was hoping for some kind of cure (as they don't know about the brain affect we learned in TWD), but when I realized that she was intentionally poisoning people I assumed she must think this is more than a sickness.

Not sure I quite got (or maybe somehow missed) the whole part about the patrol that was checking them and was getting paid off to let them through, which was then shooting at them as they were trying to run through them, and then basically let them go supposedly because things are even worse on the land...if they are worse on the land, then what are they patrolling and getting paid off for as far as letting people through?

but goodness that makes you wonder if there is a cure...but with parts of the world cut off from one another even from state to state, how would it even be available...as we look at TWD, those characters are trying to survive rather than find a cure. Of course the scientist/doctor they came into contact with was working on analyzing the virus...but it seems like everyone is a lost cause as far as those that are walkers...so is it even beneficial to hoard them for hope of a cure...granted this is the beginning and I can kind of understand that logic , but in addition to what we know from TWD, it seems kind of pointless.

Which even brings up a greater question...is there even an ending in sight for either TWD or FTWD?? Don't get me wrong, I enjoy them...but are they working towards something or it just an endless narrative?

Please clarify more than a sickness? I just don't get how Celia can look at all her former friends and relatives snarling at her through some bars and think this is the next stage of human development. She seems to be the one who is mentally sick. I understand the hope that a cure will be found, but once you realize these people die and then some unknown mechanism takes over, I don't see there being a chance of reverting back to a normal person.

This is all speculation, but there could be an area perceived to be a safe zone on land, and this is what they were paying to get access to. I'm not real clear about what went wrong top side when the group was hiding in the engine room. It's as if the military guys were corrupt and decided they wanted the boat for themselves after being paid. That statement about things being worse on land and that is why the military stopped chasing them, I took that to just be Strand's speculation. It was not real clear.

It takes it's cue from the comic. It will either go until the situation is resolved, a way where civilization can be restablished, and maybe the virus controlled, or interest dies in the story. :)

The key to understanding this part of the story is the scene where Abigail shows up at the church and tries to stop them. The townspeople at the church found out that Celia was keeping the walkers caged like pets and they were going to end it by killing all of them. She obviously knew of their plan and poisoned them all to keep her operation going. Abigail was trying to stop them because he didn't want the innocent townspeople to get killed by Celia. To his horror, he found out that he was too late.

To be honest, I don't really know.

I'm just taking the facts: (1) Just like she said "this is what comes next," so she must believe that this is the next stage of life for a human since she said "they're not dead," and (2) she's intentionally "pushing" them into this next stage.

Maybe she really hates it, but knows it is enviable so she wants to turn them all now so she doesn't have to live with the inevitable dread (just get it over with), or maybe she thinks once she joins them they'll all rejoice in some purgatory with their bodies wandering around, but if the person is shot in the head they have truly died and left purgatory?

Also, they don't really know about the "unknown mechanism" taking over yet. Jenner hasn't told them so they don't really know what's happening to the brain or body. For all they know, it could be some warped trance.

My point is, she may be desperate that there is something that can pull them out of it. Although, if you have someone with a mortal wound walking around, she should realize they're already dead. But, like you said, she appears to be mentally sick.

Thanks for clearing this up! :) She's still kinda sick if Celia thinks this is an evolutionary step for humans that she can approve of. :)

If you remember Celia said something about how the dead walked among us before, but we could not see them. Now we can, Oh Joy! :p

Daaaaaamn Daniel!!

I still think last week's episode was probably best of the first half of the season. It seemed the show reverted right back to the slow moving pace...not what I expected for a mid-season finale. Traditional Walking Dead group separation at the halfway point of the season.

However, I did like the closure Daniel received to be at peace. Was that symbolic for he's going to rot in hell?

I guess there was another wine cellar full of walkers because the ones approaching the group weren't on fire.

Watching Daniel pour the petrol all over the place gave me flashbacks to when Walter and Jesse torched the lab under the Laundromat.

Interesting to see Nick run off among the walkers there at the end. I wonder what his mindset is going to be going forward. He seems destitute towards the living right now.

I really don't understand his and Celia's affinity for the walkers, especially her: they are the next step in evolution, or something like that. And I was surprised that the group broke up so badly. Although Nick has the knack for survival he's a little messed up, and Chris does not seem acclimated well to the new reality at all, probably feeling guilt for letting the other group get the upper hand on them on the boat. Why did he stand there and watch Madison almost get killed, and then was in her bedroom with a knife? Maybe he's pissed, she's alive and his Mom is dead, but that could not really be helped, and it was his Dad, Travis who did the honors. Anyway, I did not see Celia get attacked or turned, (anyone see her?) and I assume Daniel perished in the blaze.

Added: Maybe for Nick this new found freedom and perception that he can walk among them unscathed is a form of liberation and source of purpose from the burden of life as an addict.

Fear The Walking Dead Season 2 Premier Aug 21, 2016. I really like that this show has a distinctly different setting and pacing than the original.
Isn't it season 2 part 2?

FWIW not really the right thread but I went to a TWD con yesterday (damn Groupon discount) and had a nice chat/photo with David Morrisey at his booth as we were last in line before he had to go elsewhere.

The only representative for FTWD cast there was Lorenzo James Henrie (Chris) whom I didn't actually get to see at all.

Abraham's group was fully represented and folks had brought Michael Cudlitz many boxes of Bisquick and pre-made pancakes. :D Not enough time to spend in line to meet Stephen Yeun, Lennie James, John Carroll Lynch or Tovah Feldshuh whose work I have truly enjoyed.

Not just TWD there, I almost crashed into Giancarlo Esposito coming off an escalator and I always enjoy seeing Elvira/Cassandra Peterson out of character. She's just so different.
