You're the one who inferred that he just spent 2k on a machine when quite clearly he didn't - the $30 upgrade tells you this. Fact is his financial situation might not be as liquid today as prior and is quite entitled to feel angry if he believes he never got value-for-money. But I guess you've never complained over a good or service before, eh?

if it is valid and a educated reason.

i certainly do not complain over something that has been all that it was suppose to be.

This thread is crazy ... yes, waste of time to read for sure.

If you're really questioning your purchase and wonder 'what it is you bought' then GO TO THE APPLE WEBSITE and read the features and improvements inside and out ... there now you'll see where your $30 went.

If you're still not happy with your purchase, why whine about it here? No one can help, email or phone Apple ....

Why do people make posts like this?

People complain when they're angry and feel ripped off. Get used to it it's a fact of life.

Ask yourself how often you blow $30. Then tell me you wasted your money. I can tell you $30 for an OS feels like nothing.

$10

I like it so far. Definitely like Quicktime X. I like some of the small stuff too like the way the stacks are organized in large stacks.

I love it for the fact that when I press expose, it shows minimized windows :). This alone is good enough on top of everything else haha

oh. my. god. 2 seconds?!?!?!? that is HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE! all that money was for nothing. 2 seconds? unacceptable. truly unacceptable.

I'm sure that there are some really big improvements under the hood but it still really does feel like a service pack.

I.e. they have simply taken leopard and improved its performance rather than building on it and taking a leap forward in terms of features / usage.

Therefore this really does have the feel of a service pack which should have been free to leopard users in my opinion.

Snow Leopard feels a lot smoother for me. To OP, 45/47 is an awfully long time for bootup. Mine boots up in 15 seconds, sometimes less.

Did you all install Snow Leopard from fresh or upgrade from Leopard?

Just did a quick vid of boot times:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACzTZ6lnPAU

And you're also booting up from a 128GB SSD according to your profile:

"13" Macbook Pro, 2.26Ghz, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD"

Nice try. ;)

Most of us are still using mechanical disks and 30-45 second boot times are completely normal, especially with 5400 RPM drives.

doesn't snowleopard open a lot of room on your laptop anyway?
i don't know if memory means anything to you but that's a plus.

to get snow leopard for 9.95 or whatever it is, you have to have bought your laptop within the last 30 days right?

Snow Leopard Boosted my Macbook Speeds

I dont know about you guys, but since snow leopard my macbooks startup and shutdown times have been tremendously increased and My macbook has become generally smoother, however, the temperatures on my airport card get hot relatively quickly... Anyone else experienced this problem?

Snow Leopard represents almost two years of OS development. I'm sure we should all work two years for free. ;)

In any case, IMO Snow Leopard has a substantial number of new features, both large and not-so-large, several of which I'm looking forward to and wish I could have on my PPC systems.

Hey, boot up times are pretty inane. Many applications will now run
in 64 rather than 32 bit. Some of the early specs show 25-35% faster
performance.

It's worth it.

wow lots of replys

i dont really need the money but i was saying i felt like i wasted money

i did not spend 2gs on a laptop i got the 2.8 alu macbook for 1200 off clist :)

Worth it.

i just ordered snow yesterday. after spending over 2,000 for my MBP i will be doing everything i can to keep it running like it should be. even if that is spending 30 dollars. wow big deal. and i am a college student saving everything i have. guess i wont eat for a week. ;) my vote: worth it.

If you're complaining about the general speed of the OS, it's not that much snappier. But if you're really annoyed because you wish SL saved you an extra 1 or 2 seconds once a week...you're welcome to go back to Leopard.

You will eventually pay for SL, what the problem with having it in your hands now?

I agree that SL starup times are slower, but like that post ^ ur gonna get it eventually.

Idk, I think it's well worth the $30, I installed it on my white macbook, rev a 1.83 CD (haven't gotten around to it on my uMBP yet) and boot up times are MUCH faster, it restarts in around 30 seconds. Freeing up a few gigs on a 60gb hard drive was nice too, gave me back around 9gb and I love the new dock expose and minimize to dock icon.

Installed the SL and been using it from 1 day. I have not seen any difference in boot time.. but the shutdown is insanely fast. Another thing i have observed is that when my MBP goes to sleep .. it won't wake up using trackpad. it used to wake up by swiping or clicking the trackpad in leopard.. but not so in SL.. not sure if this a bug or a feature :)....
