same here... i made an in-store reservation just to be safe but will keep trying to have it shipped.
I got through about 10 minutes ago I'm now "Preordered". I noticed that the $18.00 fee was not on the bill, so unless it will be charged separately by ATT it looks like they have dropped it.
I also kept my unlimited data plan.
I've noticed the questions about reserving a phone at an Apple Store. I kept getting that and ignored it, however one reason for me is that it would entail about a 2 hour drive.

I get the "Please wait while we access your AT&T account information." page, with the spinning wheel. Afterwards I am forwarded to a page that says, "We are unable to connect at this time.

After I got my order placed, I took a screenshot and printed my receipt. I still have the window open! haha
Having some major struggles pre-ordering despite everyone else seeming to be successful. I am creating a new AT&T account going through Apple's website, and I am able to enter my information and choose my plan until.. the "Processing Information" screen of doom. It hangs for a while and then takes me to a page where I can reserve it for pick-up. The only problem is, I NEED to have it delivered... Can't pick it up. I've tried repeatedly on different browsers. Advice?
Was anyone able to pre order 2 phones as new customer? How do you do it? It onlylets me to select one phone? Before going to SSN part?
I did the exact same thing.
It took me over an hour to get my order in, but I finally did and am having it shipped. Now I have to try to get it for my wife's line too.
Keep trying. Mine was doing that all morning and I thought I might have a credit issue or something since its a new account and im young (att tried and said i would have no deposit, so there shouldn't be an issue) but after awhile of getting only an in store pick up option, it finally worked and let me order for delivery. Don't give up.
Just got my 2 pre-orders in at Apple Store. Feel slightly guilty opening multiple windows to get them to go through.
It worked.
I am still mad at the process... probably will be screaming mad on activation day

Did u place two orders for a single phone or you were able to add 2 phones to the cart? How did you order 2 phones?
I got to that about 20 times today and then randomly it worked and let me order for delivery, so I would take the reservation just in case and then keep trying for delivery. it will work eventually. Then cancel the reservation after its all set for delivery. Thats what I did.

In store pick up for Iphone 4 not guaranteed??
I tried pre order for home delivery on the 24th through apple.com and they said there was an error, so I was able to pre order for in store pick up. I received the email confirming it but the small writing on the bottom made it seem that it is first come first serve even with the confirmation and that I wouldn't be guaranteed a phone. Also I heard a rumor that this was true earlier today. So does anyone have any idea if I definitely ordered one or not????

Wow, I can't believe how long it took everybody! It only took me about 2 minutes; But it did take about an hour to get a confirmation e-mail.
I've tried since 5AM and I haven't got through yet!
Keep at it! I've been trying since about 6 this morning off and on and just finally got mine ordered. I was thinking with the talk of AT&T being sold out on their site that it might help things a bit.
confirmation email or not, I'm going to get mine! I took a screen shot, no way there getting this one out of my hands. They'll have to pry it from my cold dead hands that are hand cuffed to a c4 explosive, so even if they do get it, they'll be destroyed with the phone! MUWHAHAHAHA!! Sorry, I'm just excited because it's my first iPhone.

After trying since 7 am this morning, I finally got a confirmed order for delivery!! I was able to "reserve" one through the iPhone app that many talked about, but I didn't trust that since no money changes hand.

Finally successful...Used Opera, Firefox, Crome, and Safari on two computers, Opera gave me the most success and the final sell as well.
I finally got an order through a few minutes ago.
BUT, why am I being charged 24% sales tax? The phone was $299, but the final order was $368. WTF? I live in California, but even we don't pay sales tax that high.
