So, I got a 6900, TPF of about 55 mins. Does this sound right for an i7 920 oc'ed to 4GHz? Seems a little slow to me...(but I'm a noob at this so I don't really know..) CPU is at 100%/800% Also, it is only using about a gig of ram. This just seems odd to me cause I have always read that you need 0.5 gigs of ram per core...

well i'm not doing bigadv units at the moment, but that does sound slow to me.

congrats to SciFrog for 11 million points for our team!

One of these days I'll build myself a nice tower. Will probably be another year before I get to 6 digits at the rate I'm going  lol. But it's still better than nothing.

Congrats to everyone!

Yes it's taking way too long. 6900 units take the Macross 32 minutes tops and 27 minimum per step. At least, that was last I checked.

hey, just build it when you can. and stick with it! you'll get there! ;)

Yeah I will :D Just have to get rid of some of the old tech for new. I only game on a console so any rig I build would be basically strictly for folding/encoding.

I just have it running on my MBP while I'm away/idling. What's the best solution I have to run? I only average 417 in 24 hours.

oh ok. well the next time you decide to buy/build a computer, just get a real powerful desktop, and use that as your main computer, and fold on it as well. that's one way to go about it.

there really is no best solution. you can only work with what you have, and how much you are willing to spend

Are you OC'ed at all? I'm assuming you are...
Well, I'm back at stock speeds. Maybe there was something funky with my OC (either way, I was having stability issues)? I doubt I'll be able to make the deadlines for bigadv, and if not, I'll go back to Advmethods until I get this figured out.

why not make a new thread about your overclock? i would like to try and help you out! you may not get back up to 4 ghz, but even at 3.7 - 3.9, you can fold bigadv units.

we really need the bigadv points

thanks. i just got a better case and cpu cooler for one of my machines, so it runs at 4.0 ghz on air with the case closed and everything
impressive! if you want air flow, get an Antec TWELVE Hundred - i just put my PC into it. IT COMES WITH 6 FANS! one on the top is 20cm! its massive lol. :)
