I updated the instructions and went more in detail on steps to take. So 5 people are still working flawlessly. That just includes people that came back to this thread. From my experience when someone does something in a forum thread and it works they go along their jolly way and enjoy what they learned. On the other hand when someone can't get it to work they post replies saying it doesn't work blah blah blah. 5 people confirmed it working but I would bet MANY more people got it to work just never replied. iphone.aggie if you don't beleive in trying to get MMS to work let it go and stop reading this thread let other people do it. Your like a little kids crying on Christmas cause your neighbor got a bike and you didn't.

BTW I talked to my 5 friends and family I did it for and still working like a charm

I decided to go ahead and give it a shot... AT&T just would NOT recognize the Razr v3xx I was using. I gave it about an hour and tried 10+ five-minute calls to various numbers, but nothing seemed to update it on their system. Oh, well... back to my SMSing ways...

FYI, I never have tried to do it, since I refuse to keep changing my messaging plan for something that from what I've seen doesn't work, or not for long. I just think it's funny how you lead these people on this goose chase. However, that being said, I'm glad you've been able to get it to work. So, don't take it so personally.

then change it manually... just click "not my device" and then use your razr.

One other thing, OP. I have to disagree about people going on their jolly way and not reporting back. If many people were getting this to work, there'd be loads of posts about what "they" found. Just look at the latest tethering thread. It's hilarious. So, again, nothing personal, but I feel people should be hearing both sides of the story. If people want to do what you're saying, all power to them.

I'm not even going into how tethering violates the TOS, or any of the other problems.

Still mmsing. But some people don't get my video messages. So I'm just reporting that it still works. But my next post in this thread will only be if it stops working.

a lot of phones can't read video mms for example the blackberry

So my personal laptop has been tethered to my phone just fine. Last night on the way back from Chicago, my fiance paired her laptop up with the phone and attempted to tether, but got an error message saying unauthorized - phone has used up all it's data connections.

I unpaired my laptop and her laptop, repaired only hers, and tried again. Failed. Repaired mine, and it worked.

Am I missing something here? What if I ever replace my laptop?

I did that, too. The interesting thing is that while it went ahead and changed the name/picture of my device, it didn't change anything else -- including all the offers/rate plans/options/etc. for iPhone. The medianet site didn't update either. It's alright, I'm quite over it.

Thanks for the VVM fix. I've been using MMS on my iPhone 3GS for about a week now. been driving me crazy dialing in to get my VMs

I did this stuff, and it works.
This is the same fix that has been around, just retyped
and the Voicemail fix edited back into the first post

only catch is, you have to decide between VVM+MMS or Tethering, i've done this, gone back, to tethering, then redone it...

OP, you have been awfully pretentious throughout this thread, when someone complains it doesn't work, you take it personally and insist they "missed a step", it's okay to calm down sometimes...

I've read all these threads and involved myself into trying to get this working. I have tethering working now with VVM. No MMS. I will wait until ATT delivers me MMS. I think my issue is I rebooted phone when I put sim back in. The OP said not to.

Guilty!

+1 sir

I had tried a number of methods but ultimately something even more simplified worked for me (and thank God I never had to call AT&T!):

1) Updated my iPhone 3G OS3.0 with a version of the ATT 5.0 carrier file and enter aforementioned MMSC/Proxy/etc. in Cellular Data settings.**
2) Put sim in different MMS capable phone.
3) Made some calls/SMS/MMS with said phone.
4) KEY STEP-->on AT&T my wireless site, I then selected a non-iphone "messaging" option that now appeared above all iphone texting features.
5) Put sim back in iPhone. REBOOT. I haz success.

**NOTE: I recently restored to 3.0 as a new phone, updated to 5.0 carrier file, and didn't have to enter ANY settings. MMS worked first try. Maybe another sign that MMS will be "official" come public OS 3.1 update.

Just to prove your point, garciarios...I achieved this soon after 3.0 Final dropped and am just now reporting my details. Soooo sorry to everyone still gone crazy for MMS! Once you have it, it's not that big a deal. If you're like me you just get fixated on making something work and lose sight of the big picture. End the insanity! Go for a walk! Pay your woman some attention! Spend time with your kids!

I'm starting to agree with my girl now when she dismisses my time on here as "NERD sh*t". To think of the time wasted. ::ashamed::
I'll be back tomorrow...

...Smoke 'em if you got 'em! ;)

Well, i Had it working, was sending and receiving both pictures and videos...but then it stopped working :(
why must they take it away from me!? *cry*
