Are you talking about SMS/MMS or mobile e-mail? The SMS/MMS system in Japan is horrendous. It's not even compatible among carriers, which makes me wonder who would use it instead of their own mobile e-mail?We don't pay per-message here in Japan; unlimited SMS/MMS costs $3/month and we just pay for data transfer (but unlimited data is $45/month so it doesn't actaully amount to anything) ... The flipside is that our calling plans are HORRIBLE and we end up paying $0.40/minute - yes, per MINUTE - for most of our outgoing calls.![]()
As for the calling plans, don't they (i.e. DoCoMo, Softbank, and au) offer package plans like the U.S. carriers do, like $30/mo. and up to 300 anytime minutes?
