i don't understand how people can wear tampon looking strings in their ears. Of course you guys aren't audiophiles. These sit on your ear don't expect anything wonderful.
I love apple products but this is just sad to me. Sorry for people that actually think these are designed well. Worst product I've seen from apple as of late.
Much better options out there for 150$(jaybird freedoms).
The only thing these have going for them in the chip inside. Nothing else

Let me have a go at explaining. Wireless earphones are about freedom and convenience, and horses for courses. When you're listening to music on a crowded noisy bus, you don't need to appreciate the finer nuances. Or in my case, when you're in a busy office, and you can wear headphones if you want, but you move around a lot, then these are the ideal solution for me.

Other ways of listening to music encroach on you to some extent. Over-ear headphones weigh on your head, in-ear earphones encroach into your ears, wires get in your way,... eventually that starts affecting your enjoyment of the music. The attraction of a lightweight no-fuss solution is it allows you to get lost in the music...

Oh yeah, and the other way of listening to music, on a big majestic audiophile system, encroaches on your enjoyment, because you have to stay on a straight line between the speakers. Whereas for the last two hours I've been doing what I like, and the perfect stereo sound has followed me all the way, and most of the time I've completely forgotten that the AirPods were there.

Agreed these are not appealing at all. But being I am a serious weightlifter for fitness (Three hours a day), these are exactly what I was looking for convenience and battery life. The regular EarPods fit perfect for me and these are the next best thing for me. I will be cautious with mositure exposure until Apple can improve this feature.

Just looked at these on their site. The problem with these is they're not wireless. There's a wire between the earphones.
I had Beats headphones that had the exact same issue. You either put the wire behind your head, or in front of it. And it gets caught in hair, clothing, collars, all sorts.
The thing about AirPods is that they're actually wireless

Cannot wait to receive mine. Thought I would do an unboxing on this site, but then again loads will probably do that and i do not want to flood the site with something that has already been seen.

MacRumors reader Jason was impressed with how easy they were to sync and the sound quality.

- "The sound is a lot better than I had anticipated. It can go very loud."

Either the writer does not know what sound quality is or that phrase needs to be changed.
Sound Quality != Loud

Where am I supposed to plug it in????! Apple fail!
A white power wall charger? You probably have multiple of them around your house.

Do I see USB-A only? Com'on Apple, if you play your (very unwise, to put it diplomatically) games with connectors, at least be so polite to your customers that you provide cables compatible with all your bloody products!
Use a white wall charger.

looks like i'll be in line at the ala moana store tomorrow morning. maybe get there an hour early...hopefully they'll have more than a few in stock.

NFC is not designed for ranges beyond 2-3 centimetres.

This is intentional, as it means that even with multiple NFC cards in the area (for example) - communication is only possible with one that is almost physically touching.

Seriously guys. You're completely taking my post out of context. I never said apple is using NF. Not that AirPods is LIKE NFC just their take on it - as in their use for pairing Bluetooth. Apple hates the "bump" as do I. But AirPods are shown in their videos quite close to the iPhone for pairing. Only similarity is that their close ... why am I posting at 3AM EST and trying. Zzzzzz

Has there been any word on battery lifespan for these? If they're only good for 500 cycles (like iPhones) you could easily burn through a pair in a year.

I think the Apple Watch can handle about 1000. That would be still really bad for 180€ earphones.

EDIT: Then again, that would be about 3.5 Cents/hour. (180/(5*1000)) Maybe it's not that bad. :)

EDIT: At that point they will probably be dead from all the ear-wax anyhow.

(... naturally, I ordered some.)

Coming from someone who's got an iPhone, MacBook Pro, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and Apple Time Capsule, This is one product I can't get around to liking. It looks ridiculous to me. If it were black and a bit more discrete, I wouldn't mind it so much.

Spot on! I generally love Apple products, but this has been the least compelling thing I've seen out of Cupertino. It looks like horrible design to me. An 'a little better' doesn't cut it at that price point. When you're competing against options such as the Jaybird Freedom and X3, as well as the Bose SoundSport, which are in that same ball park, they are even less compelling. Then add a bit more cash, and you get into the territory of competitors like the Bragi Dash, which will completely blow this out of the water (literally).

Which is disappointing because there's some pretty cool tech in the AirPods. Apple could have come up with a less horrendous design and better sound quality (skimping on the drivers and DAC in a 'premium' earphone should be a crime against music, from a company that professes to love music).

The best gym earphones have winged tips, which help a great deal to keep them in place, when you're moving.

For audio quality the jaybird ones will blow these out of the water. But they have a wire. For me that's a different product category.

Bragi Dash... from what I've heard they don't work reliably at all.

I feel like there are way too many posts and hype for this half-baked product. Does anybody really care so much about it?

Why would you want to charge your earpods with your macbook

When I'm on the road, I try to take as little stuff with me as I can. Instead of carrying a separate USB charging brick, I use my laptop to charge my iPhone and other gear.

I have a couple of USB-C – Lightning cables for this, and a USB-C – Micro USB cable as well. When I had a laptop with USB-A ports, I carried the same cabled with with a USB-A connector on the other end.

Anyone from the UK on DPD, is yours showing 'Out For Delivery' yet?

Apple stuff is usually UPS who are loads better and come at 9am for me.

Mine are arriving 0919-1019. Weirdly I don't even feel excited because I want Beats X way more than these!
