FYI: No stock anymore at Apple Store Kurfürstendamm, Berlin (for today at least). Was there 5mins after they opened the doors.

Has there been any word on battery lifespan for these? If they're only good for 500 cycles (like iPhones) you could easily burn through a pair in a year.

I think the Apple Watch can handle about 1000. That would be still really bad for 180€ earphones.

EDIT: Then again, that would be about 3.5 Cents/hour. (180/(5*1000)) Maybe it's not that bad. :)

EDIT: At that point they will probably be dead from all the ear-wax anyhow.

(... naturally, I ordered some.)
500 cycles in a year? *********! 500 cycles are 2500 hours, which are almost 7 hours a day.

Normal users would listen to music occasionally, for example for 2-3 hours a day, because normal users are also working, socializing, watching TV and movies, eating, driving, bathing, resting, ******... I don't know...being normal humans. Except if your work requires to wear and use headphones, there is no scenario where you can burn through 500 cycles in a year (also assuming you are not a music maniac in which case you would probably have professional audio gear and not headphones made by Apple).

Also, who said they only last for 500 cycles? Knowing Apple's battery technology these headphones would last for at least 2 years of every day use (in the worst case scenario of 500 cycles). If they last for 1000 cycles, you would probably loose them or destroy them before facing any battery use.

mine are coming 11.20 - 12.20 with DPD

Got mine via UK Mail. Was scheduled between 8.50 and 9.50, arrived 8.40.

I like them ... Not too heavy in the ear, given my head a good shake with them in, not falling out.

One thing I have noticed. When you take one out music stops. I thought they carried on playing through one AirPod.

When you press Play then the music carries on but I thought they were clever enough to know you'd taken one out and just carried on playing in the AirPod in your ear.

They paired straight away with my iPhone so impressed.

Sound seems better than EarPods and, as someone who has struggled with in-ear headphones in the past (I think I have small ear canals), they fit perfectly, as EarPods do.

Enjoy when they arrive!

I have an iPhone 7 256GB, Apple iWatch Series 1 42mm, Macbook Pro Retina 2015 and despite loving Apple products... I really dont understand why somebody would buy the wireless Apple earpods over the the PowerBeats 3 or Beats X.

Bec we want true wireless airpods..those pb3 or beats x have WIRE

Cue the 'what a ripoff, my gas station earbuds that were free with gas fill up sound better and are wireless to boot' rants.

imho, wow! exactly what i have wanted for years. i listen to a lot of podcasts (and some music) and my biggest problem is having to switch from lg-tone bluetooth headpones to apple earpods just to make a call with decent voice quality.

every time i am speaking to someone who is using bluetooth i cannot hear them properly. this just happened on an important call to a relative in hospital. his bluetooth was crap and i could not hear important medical information due to crappy voice quality. due to limited mobility he could not reach/hold his phone so i had to hang up and call at a later date.

i also do not like in ear headphones with the earbuds that completely seal your ear canal. i think they contribute more to ear wax issues.

Hey Guys,

I did a little write up on my first hands on impressions of the AirPods, check it out here:

Let me know what you think!

There was plenty of stock in the Birmingham UK Store at 9am. Quite a queue too but I think everyone got served

No indication on how many they had though as they were keeping them out the back

Because Beats is a brand of style of substance? Have you heard any pair of Beats headphones? Not worth the cash. Or even a tenth of it.

Do the Apple Stores have any to try before you buy?

Also is there a maximum number of pairings? Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro, iMac, Apple TV, and a Windows laptop?

Another "Half baked" newbie comment. So you asked, does anybody really care so much about The AirPods? Your question really doesn't even make sense. This is a forum for discussion and opinions. Caring about it or not is really irrelevant compared to the fact that everyone on here expresses there appreciations or not for the product.

If you want to conduct a survey, please let us know the results.
I would say yes people care a lot about air pods

There's been like 2k posts talking about them since they were available.

Sadly I don't have a new MPB yet, but surely they could offer two versions so you can choose which cable suits you best? (even if only online)

It's called a transition period, and they're never perfect. There were four choices and after analyzing the market a decision was made so the greatest number of people could charge their AirPods.

Option 1: Include a USB A cable for the billions of people who have a USB A charger of some kind, i.e. a pre 2016 Mac or PC, or any other USB A wall charger (Apple or any other manufacturer). Result on MR: Wah... along with stomping of feet, and tiny whines about Apple not serving their (relatively) small number people that have a 2016 MBP who now have to buy a cable or $4 adapter. Apple is doomed, TC should be canned, buh-blah, buh-blah, buh-blah.

Option 2: Include a USB C cable for the (relatively) small number of lucky people that have a 2016 MBP. Result on MR: Wah... along with stomping of feet, and tiny whines about there being a few billion people who only have devices with USB A charging capability (computers and USB A wall chargers) who now have to buy a cable or $4 adapter. Apple is doomed, TC should be canned, buh-blah, buh-blah, buh-blah.

Option 3: Include both USB A and USB C cables. Well, that's dumb as rocks and a load on the e-waste situation. Still, because of that, on MR there will be: Wah... along with stomping of feet, and tiny whines about Apple being wasteful and not sensitive to the environment. Apple is doomed, TC should be canned, buh-blah, buh-blah, buh-blah.

Option 4: Include no cables; and even reduce the price. Result on MR: Wah... along with stomping of feet, and tiny whines about Apple being cheap and greedy and not caring about their customers because people now have to use the a USB A to lightning cable they probably have laying around, or, buy a cable. Apple is doomed, TC should be canned, buh-blah, buh-blah, buh-blah.

I'm not saying the Airpods are not a product cared about or not (Which I ordered). Point was to that forum member, was the AirPods on Macrumors are for discussion, regardless of what is supported or unsupported.

Yeah was replying to you in agreement with your point :)

So question for those of you who have had hands on time with them...video latency. This will be my first pair of Bluetooth (wireless) headphones. I watch a lot of video on my phone and MacBook. Is there any noticeable audio latency when watching Netflix, YouTube, etc? This is my biggest concern before I buy them...

I hate hate hate the old ear-buds - they fall out at the slightest movement - completely useless design.... These are the same shape, will fall out get lost and cause trauma..... terrible Apple design you'll see...

Either the writer does not know what sound quality is or that phrase needs to be changed.
Sound Quality != Loud

I think the writer summed it up fine. If they had been qualifying the sound quality with the loud association then they would have put a hyphen or colon. The writer used a full stop - therefore 2 different points. Perhaps you need to change your approach to criticism...?

What is it with people on this site, cause trauma?
Way to be over dramatic.
Have an original thought and don't parrot what you read or hear in the media.
Try them yourself.
If you don't like, return.

Question. Why have my AirPods arrived only 24% charged when the case is 80% charged. Thought they auto charged when in the case?

Good question.
I just checked mine which I brought an hour ago and my Airpods are %100 and the case 67%.
I haven't put the case on the charger so this is the percentages my came with.

A cool new feature which makes apple watch better is that you can answer a phone call on the apple watch and continue the conversation via the airpods so that other people nearby can't hear the person on the other end.

Unfortunately before when you answered a call on the apple watch, the call was via the apple watch speaker and so everyone around you could hear the person on the other end. Airpods have solved that problem.

I just tried this out and it works pretty well.

I hesitated between the airpods and the Powerbeats as well. But I decided I wouldn't be running while listening to music, and didn't like all the extra hooks and extensions that come with the Powerbeats.

Airpods it is then.
