If these are all true. Doesn’t that mean iPhone 14 is exactly the same as iPhone 13 down to CPU?

Apple probably wouldn't do that. Some people (e.g. Max Tech) have predicted that Apple will bring the 5-core GPU A15 from the 13 Pro to the 14. (The regular 13 only has a 4-core GPU.)

This "hand-me-down" approach makes sense considering that the iPhone 13 got the same camera system as the iPhone 12 Pro, minus the telephoto camera of course.

Disappointing, but not surprising. I could see a little thicker phone resulting in a slightly thinner camera bump, but not enough to completely hide the bump. It would also add even more weight to what I feel is an uncomfortably heavy phone. I haven’t heard many more rumors about titanium lately, but hopefully that’s still in the works to get the weight down on the pro line.

When I compare my iPhone 13 Max to the iPhone 13, I'm definitely jealous of the weight. It has gotten a little out of control. I don't want to give up the camera system, but I'm definitely considering at least downgrading to the Pro next time.

Apple became insanely popular with releasing one phone each year and I’m only speaking of in the fall… Apple always drops prices of last year models as well. And then theres the SE at the beginning of the year.
And things have drastically changed since those days, I think Apple has a pretty nice lineup that people can choose from at different price points and features.

Expecting to see round volume buttons. This CAD image looks very much like iPhone 13 Pro with only change being the notch
There is also a report of the Pro models being taller. It's possible this isn't a real CAD render. It's also possible the other rumors are wrong and this is the real thing.

I totally agree that things have changed. But correct me if I’m wrong… it seems Apple is releasing two iPhones with updated chips and two iPhones without them. The iPhones with updated chips will have a pill shape camera cut out while the iPhones without updated chips will keep the notch.

If I had an iPhone 13 and was looking to upgrade this year… would I be interested in buying an iPhone 14 that will have the same chip and look relatively the same as my iPhone 13? Or will I be more interested in buying the iPhone 14 Pro or Pro Max?

My point is… Apple appears to really be focused on two iPhones this fall and if that’s the case just release those two iPhones. And I tell you this much… they will heavily promote 14 Pro models not the regular 14.

Aw, now I understand what you are saying.

It won't change cause Apple will release a full screen device in 2023 or 2024. The only significant change this year will be the pill thing. But the back design is still an iPhone 12.

Weight is largely due to battery. Ti is denser, generally going to be heavier than Al.

every year you have a new phone. I don't understand this hesitation. if u want it just buy. we all maybe dead next year anyway.

Always funny to see locked in, and blindly loyal customers trying to act like they care what any device looks like from their dear manufacturer. You and everybody else knows, you will buy everything and anything your dear manufacturer puts out. You don't need to act like you have standards in what you find acceptable in design. It's your money, but whatever you want, for whatever reason you want.

It's the "i-Notch". Every time I see it, I just think of the letter "i", and think of Apple's marketing. Or its a complete joke from Apple.

I rather just have a reverse black background bar display at the top.

ffs.. Bring that right 'shutdown' button back to the top please! I hated it from day one when they moved it.. I press this stupid button nonstop when trying to take pictures. annoying.

buttons overall seem to be lower ?

IMHO, the notch looks better, cleaner, and gets in the way of nothing.

If this true, I am sure we'll get used to it quickly, but not sure why there was a need to get rid of something that is already widely accepted, expected, and part of a design language.
Agreed, I just don't understand what problem this solves. It doesn't appear to add any additional usable screen real estate, but does get rid of an instantly recognizable design feature on an extremely high profile product that increasingly resembles much the competitor's products.

They also kinda reused the chip when they did the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s. 5s was in a way the pro of the time, and 5c the consumer product.
