You can't be serious. Someone asks for Dating advice,
and you go and tell him being gay is so much easier.
What does sexual orientation have to do with this?
I'll never understand you merrymen.

I agree. Kinda ridiculous that "go gay" is like 80% of the solutions I received. I guess the Mac stereotype pulls through... :p

so how did the 2nd date go..
no updates because it went too well? = )

Naturally. Actually I've been busy cleaning up the apartment because my parents are coming up this weekend. And buying food. (And MR didn't remind me via email that someone posted in this thread)

But yeah the date went well. Had my arm around her the whole night - though I think I fidgeted too much. But I woke up with an IM from her saying -
"hey- just wanted to let you know i had a great time at jazzfest, thanks :)"

I take that as a good thing. I replied with -

"I had a great time too - and what's with the 1:30 IM? I thought you needed to get in bed @ 10:30? haha. Well if you ever wanted to do something else sometime just let me know - finding things to do in kirksville is quite a feat to perform. But I am turning 21 tomorrow so that like opens up around 80% of the Kirksville establishments for me ;)"

"and now I gotta get my apartment straightened up for the folks - you have a fun weekend"

Then I came back from my laundry and see -
"haha, so maybe i don't go to sleep at exactly 10:30...have a great time with your parents!"

I think it went well.

Her taking the time to IM you to tell you that she enjoyed the date is a very good sign that she really did enjoy it. So just have fun and as others have said things will fall into place.

I just have to say that asking a bunch of computer geeks about dating is the worst idea in the history of the universe. Worse than clear pepsi.

don't worry I have another thread over at a relationship forum. This was more of a "HEY LOOK! I GOTS ME A GRRRL!!! OMGLOLFTW" post than looking for advise. I wasn't expecting too much help - though I was surprised with some of the helpful hints. Like the holding door post.

Question: What about clapping when you have your arm around her? I took my arm off a couple of times to clap but eventually just gave up. I eventually turned it into a type of game. What will Jon do next kind of thing. Once I reached around with my arm still on her shoulder and clapped like that. It was all in good sport.

Computer geeks helping computer geeks works out better than computer geeks getting advice from others who don't think along the same lines as the computer geek does.

What?

If I asked one of my non-computer-loving friends for date advice, it would be very different from the advice that I would get here on MR from people who love computers.

Maestro means that it's better to get advice from those in similar situations than from people who don't know what it's like to be you.

Oh darn, now I've got a Fall Out Boy song in my head...

So people who use a computer and enjoy it have different relationships to those who don't? Using a computer defines my personality?

I think the common acronym is: WTF?

Well, being a computer geek is far more than just using the computer and enjoying it.

From www.aot.state.vt.us/CaddHelp/Cadd/Glossary/gloss_c.htm a computer geek is: "A person who is fanatically interested in computers. In the positive sense, the word can mean someone who is very knowledgeable about computers. In the negative sense, it implies someone who has few social skills, and is only comfortable communicating with computers."

I guess I'm not a computer geek.

Take her to a comedy club. That is always a hit. that way the tension is broken with some laughter that can carry on for the rest of the night. Afterwards go somewhere to eat where the atmosphere is also fun and light. A tapas bar is always a lot of fun and you may have her eating out of your hand (lierally).
