I just got my iphone 6 delivered about 30 mins ago. I haven't been able to restore from my iCloud backup... just getting an error message that it could not contact the server. I'm sure Apple servers are getting hammered with activations today.

I'm with you. iPhone 6, with more storage.

The only other thing to consider is battery. Significant difference between the two.

Regardless of what others say, screen size/resolution isn't a huge deal to me. I've been rocking the 5 for almost two years and it's still a great picture. It's not like when we went from regular cable tv to HD. Night and day difference. The improvements are significant on paper, but resolutions are so good already that I don't think it's as important anymore.

Really?

Loud vibration? It's either too quiet or too loud. You're not gonna hear it go off when its in your pocket.

To be fair, I haven't heard it on the 6 Plus, on the 6 it's fine.

Louder/stronger vibration on the 6 will be a good thing. Reverted to custom vibe patterns with 5S as it is too feeble and needs to be louder/stronger IMO.

No doubt...but you would think they would actually start preparing for these times. They could throttle the connection enough to allow more people to start backups...

I always leave my phone on vibrate and my 5S was decently loud, definitely not as loud as my 4 was, but damn this actually makes me happy that is really loud and strong too...i can finally be able to hear it all the time

Isn't the point of vibration to feel it and not to *hear* it?...

the vibration noise is a moot point since most people have their iPhones wrapped in some sort of case. unless you just use a rubber bumper, i doubt you'll notice the vibration noise any more than your current iPhone

You *know* it will be moot for case users (because you have one and have found out, for example), or you speculate it will be?

You assume most people will use cases. Hard to argue, at least from a statistics viewpoint, but this is also speculation on your part - isn't it?

Cue new Samsung commercial: 2 guys with jackhammers going at concrete. One guy starts vibrating way too much. He turns off the jackhammer, still vibrating and takes the 6+ out of his pocket!!

Remember you can always customize your vibration. Short pulses should keep it quieter (in theory; I haven't tested it yet).

Whenever Apple changes something about iOS or the hardware that alters apps' looks or sets non updated apps apart from developers' apps who are still very actively working on them there's one benefit:

You see who's really serious about their apps all the time, after all that time you have them already.

The apps that are updated most quickly are often of higher support quality.

For example: When we went from 3.5" to 4.0" I could quickly see which apps I might want to replace with alternatives.

It's funny, because when I went from the 4 to the 5 the companies that took the longest were banks and newspapers. You'd think that they would be in a hurry to improve! I guess the smaller developers who actually make money from their apps are more likely to be on top of it.

Looking at that colour comparison, looks like I'm glad that I went with the Space Grey this time around instead of the gold :)

First of all, this is my first time commenting on here.

Second of all, I woke up at 7 and headed to the verizon store and there were only 30 people in line. Almost everybody was waiting in line at the apple store downstairs in the mall. I managed to get the $200 for my iPhone 4S and used that to get a iPhone 6 64gb :)

Nice...that's going to feel like a moster upgrade from A5 to A8 in terms of performance - congrats..:p

While the official reviews of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were published several days ago, with the devices now making their way into customers' hands we are starting to see broader first impressions of the larger iPhones.

Several posters in our forums have highlighted the high-quality "Retina HD" displays on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, but have observed that apps yet to be optimized for the larger displays appear "quite blurry" or "'big' and disgusting" due to scaling issues.

Another aspect being noticed by users is the much louder vibration on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, something highlighted by John Gruber in his review earlier this week.Customers are also generally praising the overall look of the new iPhones, calling them "sleek and beautifully made" and "glorious". Those opting for the gold model may notice that it is "a bit more yellow golden" than the gold iPhone 5s.

As for size, some customers have been concerned about placing orders for the iPhone 6 Plus without having a good idea of just how big the device really is. Reactions now that users are getting their hands on them seem to be mixed, with some saying they "love every inch" of the 5.5-inch display while others have found it too big for their tastes. Some in-store customers were able to compare the two sizes before purchasing, helping make the decision easier.

For ongoing coverage of photos and first impressions, readers are welcome to follow our consolidated thread stickied in our iPhone forum.

The screen is perfect for me, although the optimizing apps is an absolute must. I am typing on my iPhone 64gb SG now and I can say it feels awesome in hand. Real snappy. The stock apps look awesome although Instagram and other apps look like garbage. I am glad I came back to the iPhone from my S5. Can't wait for more optimized apps.

I realize the topic of this thread is not related to my statement, but I pre-ordered a 6 thru verizon and then canceled the order next day. Want to hold the 2 different size phones and get a sense for each before making decision. How does the 6 plus fit in front pants pockets (mens pants)?

I woke up at 6. Went to Miami ATT store. Only 30 people there and after 2 hours of wait, they announced that there were no 6 plus at all. NOT EVEN ONE!

There was only 3 at a big mall here in Indy. I was first in line. Lucked out

Well certainly a hugely successful day for Apple once again, finally here with larger screens, I find it ironic as it was only a few years back being shouted down and even kicked off of MR for wanting a large screen and arguing the point for one..

I was never going to queue too lazy but the order is in and it's on it's way..:)

whats the amp on the charger for the 6+? im little worried that it will take long to charge since the 5s is half the size and charging takes a little over 2 hours. read most of the reviews and no one mentions the charging. I hope they used the ipad mini chargers.

I am glad for Apple and for us that reactions are so mixed for the 5.5 inch phone vs 4.7 inch. This is a good thing. It just means that it comes down to personal preference, and neither one is "unusable". They both belong and are good for the lineup.

It would have been nice if they sent their stores a few phones each as display models to test out the different sizes a week before launch. Lots of foot traffic for the stores.

I went with the 4.7, but in fear of 5.5 being too big. Though I am not opposed to 5.5 as my next phone. I won't know if I made the right decision til this afternoon.

People will love this bigger screen. Once you have it in hand it is sweet. Really, you'll see. I can't see how anyone would want the smaller one. Well I guess it is preference. But they way it is set up, it's so easy to use. At least try the 5.5 before you make the 4.7 plunge. It's absolutely worth the extra 100.00.
