The Apple logo is obviously black from Apple's website and the videos. Also, the ear pods do come with a case.

I have not received my shipping notice, but I am not worried. Last year, my fiance ordered hers about 5 hours after mine. She got her shipping notice on Saturday or Sunday. I got nothing. Finally, on Wednrsday, I checked UPS and found mine had shipped--but according to Apple it was still "preparing to ship." on Friday, both phones arrived on the same truck. On Saturday, I received my shipping notice. On Tuesday, they charged my credit card. In that order.

The air bubbles around both the "iPhone" and Apple logo give it away as a fake immediately.

A clear plastic foil does not create a bubble around/over a smooth font! And there is NO WAY that the font and Apple logo are raised slightly.

Think of all the hands on reviews/previews at the launch last week, that would have been one of the standout changes peoples would have noted when discussing form factor...

Come on people!....

Welcome to MacRumors!

Enjoy your very first iPhone launch week!

Actually, I was in the 4s preorder group. I have to admit that I did check my order status and tracking info several thousand times before the first wave delivery date :D I'm still not excited about pictures of the box though.

must....resist....looking...at...purchase....page...for...the...14394357830572nd time....today.

I am so there with you. I keep telling myself:

- My iPhone 4S works fine
- I don't need to upgrade early
- I can get by for 12 more months
- Don't give in to your impulse to own the latest and greatest
- The video adapter accessories you need are not even available yet
- The new adapter won't work with the car mount you bought this year

I think they did such a great job with this iPhone 5 that I am so tempted to break my 2-year upgrade cycle and just go out and buy one. I'm afraid that once I bite on this early upgrade that I will start doing it every year and then I won't get my money's worth out of each iPhone. I can easily justify spending $250 ($400 minus $150 resale of two-year-old iPhone) every two years to get the 64GB version on contract, but spending $250 each year ($650 minus $400 resale of one-year-old iPhone) is a bit harder. I'm already doing the annual iPad upgrade with resale of my old one because each iPad has been such a great upgrade. I know if I pull the trigger this year that I need to start budgeting for it every year.

You guys are ****ing retarded. That's the clear plastic that comes with all Apple products.

It's obviously a real phone. The level is idiocy in this thread is remarkable.

"OMG A BLACK BOX, I'M SO EXCITED"...

Still waiting

I stayed up until 12pm in California on launch day to pre-order my phone. I pre-ordered and was lucky enough to have delivery on the 21st. On the 15th I received an e-mail from Apple saying that they encountered a problem while processing my order, according to AT&T my line had recently been upgraded and that because of this my order had been cancelled. I contacted AT&T per Apple's instructions and they confirmed that my line had NOT been upgraded and I was eligible for discounted upgrade so i contacted Apple support and all they could say was well your order was cancelled so now you have to place another order. Of course by that time delivery is not expected until Oct 10-16th!!! I placed the 2nd order on Saturday and it's still showing processing!:mad:

Apple really screwed me over this time, I really think they could have gone about the fixing the issue they supposedly ran into without cancelling my order! Now that release day inches closer i'm getting more and more pissed off about this!

If that's legit, the back is fairly janky looking. Glad I got the white

Don't think it's legit tho.... rear looks very unfinished (Even with the film)

To me, this quad vs dual are today very similar to what used to be Intel Vs AMD in which Intel claimed they where faster because of their higher clock frequency. It proved them wrong that AMD where making processors that where faster with less frequency.

Today, they boast that they have quad cores and this and that... and it could even be that the A6 is faster with duals instead of the four cores.

We dont even know if that is a fact. Apple didn't even made such a fuzz out of it. They didnt bring all this technical glitz. They barely said their A6 where two times as fast as the A5 and moved on... And I like that approach. It doesnt matter if they have quads or not for them. In the end, their choosing has so far brought products that perform very good and barely lag (at least to me).

There's an even bigger factor you're missing. Due to it's nature as interpreted code (Dalvik, a derivative of Java) it will NEVER (though it's getting better) perform at native speeds. Thus, Android needs MORE CPU to do the SAME

shouldn't happen, apple didnt use chemicals or glue to hold the screen down.

They used The Force.

"The force is an energy field created by all living things, it surrounds us, it penetrates us, it binds the galaxy together"

Come on guys.. The plastic is still on the back.. Just look closely.. You can see the flap you're supposed to pull in when getting it off:

However, I don't get why the FCC text etc. is missing. It shouldn't be hidden by the plastic! So I'm still sceptical whether it's fake or not.

First off, remember that it looks like this genius took the pictures with an iPhome 2G with his blinds closed to Apple's snipers couldnt take him out. So it's gonna look bad.

Second everything is legit. A simple visit to Apple iPhone features page (scroll down to the image next to the percentages) would show you that the logo and the word iPhone are polished into the metal like the chamfer edges, and the regulatory symbols and other text is laser engraved and are very dark. An obvious design choice to hide something mandatory and ugly.

So yes, they are shiney black "Apple" and "iPhone" logos on the back. It would be dumb if literally everything else was black and the logos were silver.

Lastly, if one were to visit Apple iPhone tech specs page, one would find that since Sep. 12, it has not only shown a pic of the box, but also states that one of the box's contents is "EarPods with remote and mic, and storage and travel case."

Al Gore gave us the gift of the Internet. Let's use it, people.

Do specified demo units have the legalese on them normally as well? Just wondering as that may explain everything about this photo:

It's shown up this early because of course the stores are readying displays, and if this is a demo unit only it may not have all the legal junk.

Same boat as you. Then the thought of LTE, the much better processor, and 12 months of missing out on 4" optimized apps was too much. I sold my 4S on eBay, and used that moeny to pay for most of a new phone. At least I am finally off the S cycle. I had the 3GS, then the 4S.
I like to think that I can skip the 5S when it comes, but I will take that on when it comes. We will see. In the meanwhile, I'll know I will enjoy this phone. It's always with me and I use it more than anything else I own, so I may as well invest in it.
