Still "Preparing for Shipment" ...

Yet, when I called over 24hrs ago to complain about the store shipping to my billing address rather than my *default shipping address* I was told it was too late to do anything..

grumble..

If it ships UPS, at least I know the UPS guy, and he'll bring it where I'll be that day... with a customer.

grumble..

This is definitely some sort of fake, display model, or somethibg else.

No FCC text, different box= not legit

There have been about 5-6 posts in this thread before you stating that if you go to ups.com and TRACK BY REFERENCE (as opposed to track by number), and use your ten digit phone number as the reference number, plus your country and zip code, you will see your tracking info.
If that doesn't work, do the same at fed ex.
It's shipped.

I call fake! (again)

Image

EDIT: also note the "shiny effect" of the Apple logo on the fake

its not a fake. theres no shiny effect...youre looking at two things: 1) the plastic back, creating an adhesive "halo" around the apple and "iPhone". 2) the color difference is because the logo & label are reflective...depending on the shot angle they can appear black or silver.

one got out. its not a conspiracy at this point. thats the new iphone.

Props to the person that noticed this earlier:

Look at the picture of the phone on the box... The reflection on the top of the phone is different.

sorry for the tiny pic, its from Apple's website

I really don't get how people are surprised the iPhone comes with an EarPod travel case, given that Apple actually states so on its website (iPhone 5 Tech Specs).

Or maybe I have way to much spare time and read every single thing about it. :p

Apple says my iPhone is "preparing for shipment." UPS says it left China on Sunday, and is in Louisville now.

Damn. UPS delivers around 7pm around here, whereas Fed Ex delivers around 1:00. It's gonna be a long day.

For the millionth time, the protective film is still on it. You can see the tab at the bottom of the iPhone. MacRumors should update the original post/article saying this because 90% of the replies are people thinking it is fake or coated in fingerprints.

Yes, and I tried that before posting.. ;-)

Turns out that Apple, for some reason, not only shipped to the billing address, rather than the default shipping address, but also used the billing phone number from my *iTunes acct*, rather than the card I used for the phone purchase.. found it on ups on 5th try when I decided to try the other number for shiggles and gits.

At least it has shipped, and is on UPS, so I can tell the UPS driver to catch me where I'll be, rather than the billing address.

A friend of mine (works for Fedex) has told me that there are agreements in place between UPS and Fedex - UPS delivers to the states, Fedex then delivers door to door. Same with UPS and USPS in some cases.

Bottom line, I'm pretty damn sure it'll be Fedex.

so the protective plastic can change the font?
And it seems this will be one of the first Apple products without fcc and legal stuff on the back....

It's there. You just have to look closely. You can see it in the shadow part that looks like a thumb.

The "change in font" you are referring to is the plastic bubbling up in that particular area.
