I agree - I guess 3D Touch knows how hard and where you're pressing, and force touch just knows how hard your pressing on the watch or trackpad.

They'd have to reserve at the Apple store, which the 3 stores in Oregon had all of their slots filled. Not sure about Delaware or the others' reservations, but those who wanted to scalp are now stuck making the drive up to Seattle, or wait.

It mentions how since these 4 states don't have a state sales tax (there are actually 5 states without a state sales tax), it made it more profitable for people (scalpers) to buy multiple unlocked phones and resell them. As in tax on a $900 phone at 9-10% saves the scalper $90-100. So if the "market mark up is $1200, they make $300 plus what they saved in tax.

That's definitely part of it, but had that colour been available previous to this, I think you'd find the amount of men ordering it this time would be much smaller IMO... it's the only colour that shows you've got the new iPhone along with the fact that it's fun to own something new-new.

Thing is, they'll have to make the drive to get to it. In Oregon's example, the next closest store is in the Tacoma area. That's a 3 - 4 hour drive from Portland. Going south, Sacramento would be the next closest. 9 hour drive. They'd lose whatever profit they'd make in the gas and time to drive to get the phone, let alone lose the advantage of no sales tax.

But now, they'd have to pay the sales tax. Which in Washington's case, I want to say is 7.25% or 7.75%. This on top of still having to get to the store. By apple doing this, those in the Portland area lost all advantage.
