The issue of price is going to pollute every thread regarding this machine.

This thing is not too expensive. It is just not what the name says it replaces.

This thing is like Ford stopping sales of the F-150 Super-Duty, then giving us a giant dumpster truck with 8-foot wheels and calling that the NEW F-150!

Of COURSE people are losing their minds, particularly because the truck they needed/wanted was NEVER replaced.

Like Ford saying: "go use this El Camino instead, if this an F-150 is too much for you."

Old Mac Pro fans: Apple WILL NOT build an equivalent machine again. That ship sailed into the sunset with Steve Jobs.

This is just 1000 Euros more than an iMac Pro, so I don’t think it’s too much. Except for the wheels.

Finally! Can't wait to start bragging about it and just use it to surf the web. Hopefully those wheels are SMOOTH, so I can post some sweet YT videos.

Yeah, no.

Big ups to those who can afford it, I'm jealous.

I wish I could justify one for work, but all my heavy lifting isn't really done locally.

So those of us who want one for home will have to wait and pick up a used one in a couple years, they'll especially be cheaper in 3 years when the longer used ones phase out of Applecare :)

Lol it does make me think, what's the point in a 12 core. My trash can is 12 core, and the base GPU - and on top of it adding 96gb of ram from apple. Someone doesn't know what their ordering.
LOL

Maybe go and listen to the many podcasts from professionals making comments about it, and the cost. Also I was speaking to a friend in a post house, afterburner is SUPER but how does it work when the Mac in on a shared network?!
And you know what they are going to two with that computer, right?

All I can say good luck for those people who are buying Mac Pro. I'm still very happy with my old Mac Pro (Tower).

I wish Apple would release Mac Mini Pro - that's missing from the list - something I could afford one thing at a time to stack up together for the raw power.

I wish I needed a Mac Pro.

Bur Honestly, what I really long for is an Apple display for the masses. Doesn’t have to be cheap, Just make it great. It is so lame to attach a beautiful MacBook Pro to a crappy Dell or LG.
Out of curiosity, why do you define the l LG display as crap ? 🤔

I can’t think of a better computer to surf the web on. If you buy it, but don’t need it, no judgements from me.

You laugh, but go try using Chrome on a 64 core workstation with 128 GB of RAM. You can keep tabs open for days. At one point I saw Chrome eating 18 GB of memory, and everything worked just fine.

One of the many reasons I never use that browser...what a memory pig. So much for the original vision of the "lightweight" browser.

I have owned several Dell displays in my time and the P2415Q I own now and the P2715Qs I used at my previous job are not crap. Neither is the BenQ SW271 I own. Apple uses an LG 4K and 5K panels in the iMacs and iMac Pros and if they were to make a standalone display it would most likely be an LG panel, so you’re really speaking from a place of considerable ignorance RE: Out of your ass.

Because they’re not made out of aluminum with an Apple logo, I’d guess. I HOPE that vendors are reading these threads and realizing how much MONEY they’re leaving on the table by NOT copying Apple’s design wrapped around their current solutions. I mean, that Dune Pro case needs a matching monitor, yeah?
