Because they’re not made out of aluminum with an Apple logo, I’d guess.
And, based on every apple flat panel until now - they should be as adjustable as a ham sandwich. Tilt is probably even too much.

I miss a single cable solution and brightness controls but basic things like height adjustment and rotation really make it easy to like Dell displays.

I have owned several Dell displays in my time and the P2415Q I own now and the P2715Qs I used at my previous job are not crap. Neither is the BenQ SW271 I own. Apple uses an LG 4K and 5K panels in the iMacs and iMac Pros and if they were to make a standalone display it would most likely be an LG panel, so you’re really speaking from a place of considerable ignorance RE: Out of your ass.

Dell P series are crap. We have them at work too, starting with the 2015 series. First, they're 6-bit + FRC on the 1080s, 8+FRC on the 4Ks. There's an obvious panel lottery: some are LG, and some are AU Optronics. It's obvious with the color and even polarization sitting next to each other.

We got a bunch of the 2017 models too, they have a crap overdrive algorithm that leads to very obvious color fringing on moving objects, such as scrolling. Loud complaints online, Dell's response is too bad. The 2017s have had multiple DisplayPort issues as well, when the computer is asleep, it gets into a state where it goes in and out of sleep mode every few seconds.

While LG could be assumed 5 years ago, the patents on IPS have expired, so AUO and Innolux are pushing in on the market.

I can’t help but wonder why there aren’t any single cable aluminum solutions. It seems like a ripe market! Of course, it could be that monitor companies have already run the numbers and have determined that the Mac-user-that-wants-a-monitor market is far too tiny to make a specialized product for.

Apple can make a few hundred million phones a year, but under your novel theory can't keep up with demand for a computer with an averaging selling price of over $10,000.

Allrighty

It's not theory. If Apple had unlimited supply, they would use it to fill orders immediately. They can't, the supply is limited. It is no surprise that initial production might not satisfy pent-up demand but it is silly to claim supply has nothing to do with availability. This should not be any more controversial than profit depending on both costs and revenue.

No, where did I give that impression? I'm just thinking that because it is so expensive, after the initial rush of people who really want one and need one, the demand will be much lower.

I am not sure why anyone is even expecting the Mac Pro to have a ton of sales. It’s a niche of a niche. The high initial sales is likely due to there being a lot of pent up demand for said product, but afterwards, of course sales is going to taper off.

Likewise, as with any profit maximising company, the Mac Pro is likely priced to generate as much profit as possible. I dare say Apple knows exactly how many Mac Pros they are going to sell at the prices they charge and it’s all according to plan.

Two things: What do the wheels look like and how exclusive is the XDR cleaning cloth?
P.S. I'll hold off and pick up a Refurb MacPro some time next year.

No idea what users apple was listening to, certainly not the folks who work for a living using these things. They are out of their minds on the pricing. We wanted a $2500 i9 box - a basic update of the old tower with new tech like USB3.1 and TB3... we got this monstrosity instead.
Critics: Apple doesn't make anything for actual Pros anymore! They put Pro on anything and everything. It’s disgraceful.
Apple: 2019 Mac Pro
Critics: That’s too Pro!

This is just 1000 Euros more than an iMac Pro, so I don’t think it’s too much. Except for the wheels.

"Just a thousand Euros more, so I don't think it's too much."

Only in an Apple forum do you get to hear that combination of words.

Also, the money is only part of the issue. It's what this machine is and isn't, or who it is or isn't for that is at the heart of the debate.

This is both funny and accurate.

But the part that's not funny is that Apple is not really listening. Or listening but not understanding. Or the worst case scenario: they're ignoring. Since 2013.

This machine will make Apple lots of money, because for those that want a real PRO Mac, this is the ONLY game in town.

It is clear that this was the driver, instead of making the most appealing (and scalable) product to the widest audience.

People bought and defended the Trash Can for YEARS, when it was obvious that it did not replace the old Mac Pro. Neither does this machine.

Same with the MBP keyboard. Just. Not. Listening. And when they FINALLY do, they put it on the most expensive machine ONLY.

Come to think of it, it's freakin' hilarious to watch all this unfold.

I didn’t make a point. The poster I replied to did. I questioned whether that poster had any idea what they were opining about (they don’t).

Then you're counter-arguing your own point. Saying they don't have adequate supply then saying we have no idea what the supply is contradicts your own point. Thanks. :)

got a spare 65K? I could use it and get wealthy. Oh but wait.... in one year we will surpass this model's performance for under 10k. Still I could use it for that year. then sell it and put a nice downpayment on a house.

This is not a product the masses will run out and buy like an iPhone and after the initial rush things will slow down. . Corporations are ordering this product and will perhaps continue to do so as other corporations will need this product to run their business and most likely will be ordering many.

Ordered my 16-core Mac Pro on Dec. 10, 2019 within two hours of when they became available to order.

You’re probably overstating by saying “many.“ Even in studios/facilities where they can take advantage of it and have the monetary resources, only a few actual artists/designers/editors/etc. will actually get them. They’ll likely outfit the rest of the team with iMacs(Pros), assuming they‘re Apple only.

This machine is impressive but it’s honestly overkill and/or cost inefficient for most users in even high end operations. I’m just speaking for film/vfx industry. Can’t vouch for the others.

I've been saving for four years. Needless to say, this depleted my savings and then a lot more.

I hope you get your money‘s worth.

Price is always going to be brought up regarding this product, and it's to be expected, and its justified.
Why? Because it is the only user upgradable mac that Apple sells, and its way out of reach from almost all people who want a product like this.

As I have said before - it’s fascinating watching the Apple community come to terms with the fact that Apple, by finally meeting nearly every one of their demands for a Mac Pro, has made a computer that is 100% not for them.
