I do wonder what’s involved to reduce the bezel size. Does it require new OLED and complex engineering or is it simply less black paint to reveal more of the display below?

It almost seems like it could be something in Apple’s bag of tricks.
They knowingly start with thick bezels in series one, knowing they can shave off a millimetre or two as a ’feature’ in subsequent years.

Plan on aluminum model in some flavor of silver as I will reuse my stainless steel mesh band. I wore the magnetic "catch" out of the first stainless steel band so learned a better way to adjust it so as to not peel of the magnets in the tab even after several years. Will be getting both sizes- large for me and small for my wife. She will be coming from the v5 and I have the v6.

Looking forward to this upgrade coming from a series 4.
I’ve got a series 4 I cracked the top edge of the glass and will probably be upgrading because the price to repair it is close enough to the same as buying new, so why not? However, I’m not so keen as the 4 is still plenty fast and the AOD isn’t a major upgrade for me (wife has a series 6 so I’ve seen it). I would like the O2 sensor but that’s it honestly. Kind of disappointed in the series 7. I’d keep the 4 if it was still waterproof.

Maybe it’s the angle but that doesn’t look great. Screen is too bulbous looking compared to the band. Kinda cartoony.
The photos are crap…. 7 looks exactly like 6, other than being marginally bigger. Check the website.

My wife smashed the glass on 2 AW4's without even knowing it - but it was on Apple Care so it was "cheap" to get fixed. But the very helpful staff at Apple said "it rarely happens with the SS case". So we upgraded to SS AW4 and it has not happened since.

So I think best thing you can do if not going the AW7 route - get another AW with SS case.

Ha, my best friend gave me gender crapolla when I added a wrist strap to my Nomad iPhone 13 Pro Max case. Geez, I just don't want to drop the thing:confused:

IP6X is not an improvement though? That would mean it lost its water resistance rating of 7 and gained dust resistance.

The display looks like its going further where the bevel starts which will create some ugly 'distorted' look. If thats the case than I don't know if I would like that. Will have to see it in person but so far that was my main worry since they announced it

I wouldn’t go so far as saying it’s girly watch. It’s lack of hard edges and round curves is maybe why it may come off as less masculine for some.

My wish for the Apple Watch is to be more ‘textured’ and with greater nuanced details. I would prefer contrasting surfaces with a mixture of smooth, chamfered and/or brushed finishings. Different surfaces to catch the light reflecting on it.

Instead Apple has taken a very minimalist approach. As we have it now, it’s just either all smooth aluminum or stainless steel. The titanium model is the one that comes closest to what I’m suggesting as it has some interesting brushed texture.

Despite rumors, the Series 7 does not feature flat-edges but instead "more rounded and softer corners," which allows the display to curve slightly over the sides.
Why is this phrased like this is a design change? The current Apple Watch also has rounded corners with the display glass curving over the sides. The only visible difference between 6 and 7 is the larger display from smaller borders.

I’m torn. I can’t decide if it’s worth the upgrade. I wanted the always on display for a long time but I also like that my Series 4 can only really be seen by me when I lift my arm.

I think if there was space gray instead of midnight I’d be sold. The blue hue from midnight wouldn’t go with a lot of my straps.
Split the difference and buy a refurbished Series 6 (or new, Walmart has it for $50 off). That's what I did.

The always on display varies in what is shows on certain watch faces. When my wrist is down private info doesn't show. The AoD is a game changer for working out, no more flicking my wrist to track my progress.

I'll bet interested to see if the 7 includes support for Cellular band 71, which is T Mobile's newest band. My phone can access band 71 & I get much better coverage with that than my watch. If the watch includes it, I'll probably upgrade. If not, I'll enjoy my 5 for another year.

Have a series 5 at the moment, and the only thing that I like about the 7 is the full keyboard. I'm tempted but will most likely resist until the series 8 where Im expecting that redesign....
Lol it was ALREADY redesigned. You seriously think it will be twice redesigned within two years?

You can turn off the always on display if you want.

There’s much I like about my aging 4 — Auto sleep, the highly accurate step counter, heart rate monitoring. But God, I hate the battery life. The new one? Meh. No increase. Mine’s 3 years old and barely lasts 10 hours now. Do it again, or switch, that’s my question.
