Haha. Damn. I never thought of the 2020 MBP has having a thick bezel until now. Jeez. What a difference.

Keyboard looks cheaper ?

It really is baffling, why they would make their unibody macbook look like it has a drop-in plastic keyboard like those super cheap laptops. Where the entire keyboard is one part you can take off.

That is a crazy decision to make. Looks way cheaper, for no reason.

Is the lack of Face ID in these models a hardware limitation or might Face ID come to these in a future update? Thanks.
I head someone make an excellent point about why no face ID… on phone you still need to double press a button for a purchase, if it was that what on the macbook one can as well stick with touch ID

I think the keyboard area looks dated, but might look better in person when you see the quality of the materials. Not a fan of the notch and I have my fingers crossed they make a setting for just turning it off all the time for the people who want it (that is make the area to the left and right black all the time and "blocked" off. Neither of them are a deal breaker for me though. I'm more upset of the price increase (which I expected) but paired with that the base came with lower specs 8/14 than I expected. So ends up being $500 or more that what I was hoping to spend.

Not a snarky question: how did Dell get such a thin bezel and fit their camera without a notch? I might be missing something wrt hardware but, it seems like Apple should be able to pull this off too. I don’t follow Dell, so maybe someone on this thread knows the answer.
The sensors on the Dell are tiny. The quality is quite terrible and makes everything look like an oil painting because of the lack of details it captures needs excessive smoothing. While it offers 720p not all 720p webcams are built the same. If you look at the 13inch M1's 720p webcam in comparison it's a stark difference especially in mixed lightning conditions.

Let your joy be in your journey - not in some distant goal.
We're very simple people at Apple. We focus on making the world's best products and enriching people's lives.
For us, the most important thing we can do is raise people up - that is, either by giving the ability to do things they could not otherwise do, allow them to create things they couldn't otherwise create. It's about giving them tools; it is about empowering people.
And that's what everyone at Apple is focused on - pushing forward and creating the future

No but you can max out to a tactile 3.5K OLED on the Dell XPS 13" which is truly one of the best display on the laptop market for non-gaming stuff (60Hz) it's PPI is so high that this kind of upgrade on the screen are more suited for 15" and 17" versions since even FHD 1080p is perfect if colour accurate on a 13" display.

With an OLED white texts on dark mode are razor sharp which is not the case on MiniLED (slight blooming)

OLED is NOT a good idea on a display that mostly contains static content, even after all improvements, and I laugh at touchscreens on Computer screens, simply a bad idea.

oddly....I still think my 2019 16" looks more modern if I didn't know these were the new models.
Agree with that for sure. I already ordered a new 16"one (from the 2019) but that simply because of power and not because of beauty. I actually it think it looks "old computer" rather than something fresh and contemporary (but I guess that fits with the whole narrative of bringing back old-ish ports).

I agree with you on the current state for a computer use case but I truly think that with improved self cleaning algorithms in the display (for instance any modern LG OLED TV has auto clean phase which start after 4hr+usages silently when turned off to extend display lifespan and you can trigger on off/low/medium/high an auto setting to reduce contrasts on statics elements) and good settings built in the OS to reduce contrast and move slighlty statics elements we can accomodate these issue.
For a TV use which is easier to deal with, LG has very few burn-in issues for this use with all these improvements and now they just started to attack the high-end monitor market, so I'm pretty confident despite these issues.
