Is this screen a 1000nits miniLED?
No but you can max out to a tactile 3.5K OLED on the Dell XPS 13" which is truly one of the best display on the laptop market for non-gaming stuff (60Hz) it's PPI is so high that this kind of upgrade on the screen are more suited for 15" and 17" versions since even FHD 1080p is perfect if colour accurate on a 13" display.

With an OLED white texts on dark mode are razor sharp which is not the case on MiniLED (slight blooming)

How

How does this work though when you use split screen and the close, minimize, maximize buttons are inside the notch for the right most window?
They won't be? Fullscreen mode has the notch hidden by default, unless the app specifically supports the notch in fullscreen. When you split FS and move your mouse to the top, the menubar appears and the close buttons are below the menubar.

Not a snarky question: how did Dell get such a thin bezel and fit their camera without a notch? I might be missing something wrt hardware but, it seems like Apple should be able to pull this off too. I don’t follow Dell, so maybe someone on this thread knows the answer.
I’ve answered this here and elsewhere. The thin bezels and a camera come from Dell using camera with tiny sensors. This drastically reduces quality. I cannot use my webcam on my XPS without looking like I’m using a digital camera from the 1990s. Granted, many laptops have poor cameras (including most of Apple’s before the Apple M1 laptops), but thin bezels come at a cost of component quality (not necessarily the screen) and possibly durability.

Dell’s small bezels are impressive (most of the advancement in reducing bezel sizes came from their work with Sharp).

It looks so nice, reminds me of the older unibody MacBooks for some reason. I am so glad that Apple seems to be done with the whole thin over function.

It's another topic but I would be very curious how Dell will answer to this MBP line-up with their XPS ?
I have the feeling that even 2022 XPS will be outdated vs these ARM based MBP.

I would love to see a very optimized ARM based fanless laptop (XPS or Thinkpad like) on W11, maybe in 3 years ? ?

What if their reaction is to make it a "normal mustache", so just increasing the notch width a bit.

I have an xps. Webcam that low is a big compromise. I personally would rather have a notch. Both are compromises, i prefer the compromise that maximizes performance

As an M1 MBA owner, I'd rather have the notch than yet another crappy webcam. What's funny is, I work with a guy who is traditionally anti-Apple. Has his Windows laptops and his Android phone.... and is enamored by the new MBP, notch and all. He and I are both OK with the fact that full screen simply puts a black bar with the notch.

For once, I think I'm hearing people complain about function over form. :p

Question: any Logic users here currently using a 13“ MB Pro who can‘t decide wheter to get the 14“ or 16“?
