I personally would opt to buy a dedicated webcam than having a notch on my laptop as it's not a device I only use for video calls.I have an xps. Webcam that low is a big compromise. I personally would rather have a notch. Both are compromises, i prefer the compromise that maximizes performance
You need a certain amount of space for the hinge and the cabling that connects the screen to the video card. That connection needs space to flex and you don’t want it to crimp. Also, it’s not an ergonomic benefit to have the screen any lower than it needs to be. Tilting your head down more is not better. It’s not a big difference but any amount of extra tilt is a negative.
Could be a limitation of the Mini-LED panel. Does PCs with Mini LED panels have small bezels? The new MacBook Pro bezel looks pretty nice but it not a bezel less like some high end laptops in the marketplace! Notch does not bother me!
Didn’t realize it’s suppose to be on his head lol that just looked weird.I think that notch is about 4" too high.
Yeah I saw that too. Doesn't look so good.Just take a look at these gaps. I really hope this is just a defective unit.
You know the 14" model is actually 0.1 mm thinner than the old 13" MBP.Really starting to worry about how thick these beasts are going to be.
How so?All black keyboard is the cheapest way to do a key board
And the 14" is actually 0.1mm thinner. Why do people keep worrying about that. The 16” MBP is 0.6mm thicker. That’s about 5 sheets of paper. Unless you have micrometers for hands, you likely won’t notice.
And with a potato quality 720p webcam that looks hardly better than a upscaled 480p. I think I'll take the notch over that.
I wish the whole MacBook was that dark of a finish and not just the keyboard area. The Space Grey has always been too light in my opinion.Double anodised with a darker finish. I don’t really like, but this is what we’ve got for the next cycle so ?♂️
Why is this the case? It's not like it's a separate piece, just doubled anodized for color in the keyboard well. If anything, it should be more expensive to make. All black keyboard is the cheapest way to do a key board
Percentage-wise it's closer to the 13".Is the 14” closer to the old 13” or the 15”?
I currently have a 15” 2013 mbp Which is the perfect size for me and Im not sure if I should go for the new 14 or 16”?
I had the same thought. Maybe because they are using pretty low quality cameras (720p 30fps) from what I've seen? The OLED display on those XPS laptops is something else though. Not a snarky question: how did Dell get such a thin bezel and fit their camera without a notch? I might be missing something wrt hardware but, it seems like Apple should be able to pull this off too. I don’t follow Dell, so maybe someone on this thread knows the answer.
Super cool Sysmet. calm downJust take a look at these gaps. I really hope this is just a defective unit.
its not a defect! its a feature!! (silicon valley speak)Just take a look at these gaps. I really hope this is just a defective unit.
The keyboard does but bet you HP doesn’t have a notch. How much you want to bet now every laptop maker out there will be introducing with a notch :/The keyboard makes it look like an HP
Wait! What am I seeing? What’s so defective about it?Just take a look at these gaps. I really hope this is just a defective unit.
