The new MacBook Pro bezel looks pretty nice but it not a bezel less like some high end laptops in the marketplace! Notch does not bother me!

You need a certain amount of space for the hinge and the cabling that connects the screen to the video card. That connection needs space to flex and you don’t want it to crimp. Also, it’s not an ergonomic benefit to have the screen any lower than it needs to be. Tilting your head down more is not better. It’s not a big difference but any amount of extra tilt is a negative.

That’s why the magic keyboard is so nice, holds the display up and towards you.

Apple should replicate that design for the new MacBook Air. All the tech in the screen like the iPad with a permanent magic keyboard and macOS rather than iPadOS. Only problem is balance so the screen needs to be as light as possible.

Not a snarky question: how did Dell get such a thin bezel and fit their camera without a notch? I might be missing something wrt hardware but, it seems like Apple should be able to pull this off too. I don’t follow Dell, so maybe someone on this thread knows the answer.
I had the same thought. Maybe because they are using pretty low quality cameras (720p 30fps) from what I've seen? The OLED display on those XPS laptops is something else though.

Personally I'm in the camp of the notch is only occupying unused space and doesn't impact the 16:10 ratio, so I don't care, I'd rather have a really good quality camera. But the Dell XPS line does look great. Swings and roundabouts really, what do you value most, camera quality or lack of notch?

Just take a look at these gaps. I really hope this is just a defective unit.

Tim Cook interview:

"Our philosophy here at Apple... is that no one person and not one thing in this world is perfect. But that's what makes us unique and beautiful! Just like our products!"
