I don't care if it looks like a white plastic MacBook with a Hello Kitty sticker. It's a keyboard, some electronics, and a screen. (I actually wanted a Hello Kitty sticker for my white MacBook. I used to take it on client calls and the analytics guys would ask "how did you run that algorithm on that laptop?!")

When I got my white 12" iBook, all of a sudden pretty young women came out of the woodwork to ask me about it. I'd be out and about like in a cafe or something and randomly they'd come up to me and strike up a conversation. Being a straight guy, I was quite pleased with all the attention, even if it was really just for my iBook.

But then I upgraded to a 15" PowerBook Titanium, and all of that attention just stopped.

Really starting to worry about how thick these beasts are going to be.

Why do people keep worrying about that. The 16” MBP is 0.6mm thicker. That’s about 5 sheets of paper. Unless you have micrometers for hands, you likely won’t notice.

The notch isn’t an “iconic” design. I don’t understand why people say this. Every single MacBook and Mac in history never had a notch and were already iconic with just the Apple logo on the back.

It's an iconic design to iPhone. Thus, Apple is transitioning the notch to the Mac.

People complaining about the notch need to look at this photo. The screen is bigger even if you subtract the notch, and the notch only cuts into the central menubar area which is normally not used.

I dunno, not a fan of the notch on any apple device but I feel like it looks even worse the larger the screen but hey it's subjective.

Not even having used it yet it looks kind of distracting. Hopefully having a wallpaper that is at least black at the top and dark mode offset it enough.

This will be the greatest Macbook Pro of all time since 2015's model. I truly regret selling that model.

I stuck with a 2015 in hopes of waiting out dongle hell and the Touch Bar. This 2021 was an immediate purchase for me.

Apple is preparing ourself to introduce the FaceID on a Mac. They will also slimmer down the notch

Tim Cook: We have reduced the the camera layout and added the Face ID. This is the best MacBook Pro in the world we have worked on. We think you are going to love it.

I bet these won’t be updated again for another 2 years (MX chips in even years (2020, 2022, 2024, etc.), MX Pro/Max chips in odd years (2021, 2023, 2025, etc.), so if you’re going to wait for FaceID, I hope you’re willing to wait 2 years.

That bothers me a lot less than the notch on my iPhone, at least when the iPhone is used in landscape mode. After a year I still find that side notch quite annoying.

In contrast, on the MacBook Pro, there is no side notch in its landscape orientation. In fact, if the safe area is used, there is no top notch either.

Didn't even realize it's not on top consoles yet. Thought consoles had exclusivity over PC which had it for ages now.

Good computers, these. The notch will take a little getting used to, for everyone. But other than that, the computers are great and people should be mostly happy with it.

Yes..Yes...though, there's one thing about these MBP's that makes lots of people unhappy, it's pricy.
