Not a snarky question: how did Dell get such a thin bezel and fit their camera without a notch? I might be missing something wrt hardware but, it seems like Apple should be able to pull this off too. I don’t follow Dell, so maybe someone on this thread knows the answer.

If Dell XPS laptops can make it, Apple could do it too.
It a shame since Dell XPS are flawed by bad thermals and Intel, Apple could make it sexier easily with no notch and less besels.
Don't get me wrong it's one of the biggest upgrade ever in the laptop industry but I'm convinced Apple opted to make an "iconic" look for brand recognition (huge notch "iPhone like", bottom bezel still here) rather than make the best one.

Me too! My first mac laptop was a TiBook. To be honest, that design was what finally converted me to the Mac.

When I buy the 14 inch hopefully they will have new cases for it on amazon I always end up getting a pink case(purple) which covers up the space grey anyway

Apple unveiled new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models earlier this week, and the first real-world photos of the notebooks have surfaced.

YouTube creator Luke Miani tweeted the above photo of the 14-inch MacBook Pro next to the previous-generation 13-inch MacBook Pro, providing a real-world look at the notch at the top of the display, all-black keyboard design, and more. As noted by Miani, the photo was shared by a Reddit user in the MacBook Pro subreddit.

In addition, there is a press photo of Apple CEO Tim Cook next to what appears to be the new 16-inch MacBook Pro, revealing its slightly thicker chassis.

The new MacBook Pro models have been available to order since Monday and will begin arriving to customers and launch in stores on Tuesday, October 26. Pricing starts at $1,999 for the 14-inch model and at $2,499 for the 16-inch model.

That's not why there's a notch. The notch exists currently because the function light and ambient light sensor are packaged with the camera module in the current MacBook Pro. It's just obscured by the bezel. For the 2021 model, the bezel has been shrunk on either side of the camera exposing it like something on the beach when in the tide goes out. The "notch" was always there. Now we can see it because the surrounding bezel has given way to more screen.

Would anyone tell me if the keyboard chassis is just plastic like the keys or is that something else? Until now, the gaps between the keys was the metal top frame. What is it now?

It's still aluminum just like before...except that it's anodized a darker color.

I dunno, the design looks chunky and dated to me….optimistic it looks better in person, will see Tuesday.

Edit: with specs seem the same as the previous model. Are we now seeing a thicker base and thinner display than previous?

Why do people keep worrying about that. The 16” MBP is 0.6mm thicker. That’s about 5 sheets of paper. Unless you have micrometers for hands, you likely won’t notice.

It's not the thickness. It's the fact that it's not tapered anymore to appear thinner.

...what were you hoping for a lenovo keyboard? The keyboard on my 2019 16" is amazing again. As good as my old 2012 Retina
